As a tech sales headhunter myself, this is a great take on why many folks coming from insurance, D2D, F2F, logistics, retail sales etc. generally need to start as an SDR to get into tech sales. Going to use this as a resource for future candidates. Subbed!
Really appreciate the feedback! That's a great point, I'll start drafting a video specific to that point; why it's beneficial to be an SDR. Are you focused on entry level roles or all roles (I.E. SDR to Enterprise AE)?
Hey guys for a newby to the biz who really appreciates this open conversation, can you share what these acronyms mean to you? There’s so many of them now!
Just subscribed. Currently a SDR at a cybersecurity company. Love how you broke this down. Honestly wish I found you sooner as I have not been performing to how I would want to.
Great to hear Shaman thanks for the support! Any particular videos you'd want to see content made about? We'll keep pushing new ones as we can and are always looking for ideas that can help folks in their role!
@@techsales-higherlevels Ideally I'd like to sell what I have experience in which is cybersecurity, but that can extend to any facet of IT. I haven't yet applied anywhere, I am taking my time to explore my options as I currently advance my career as a cloud sec engineer
@@ivartorr1469 Nice, while we don't work with any companies in the UK, if you'd like to email and share more specific details feel free to reach out at eric@gujirecruiting.com. I'm a former electrical engineer that transitioned to tech sales so I'm happy to help
I’m desperately looking to get into tech sales I’m just trying to find an affordable boot camp. This video is inspiring and motivating. It’s very clear and precise on processes and solutions. Thanks for sharing
No problem - check out our bootcamp in the description and see if it's a fit. I typically work with new grads or folks with experience in other industries and help them break in.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I'm gathering a lot of much needed information from them. I've been in sales for over a decade (some b2b) but I want to start a career in Tech. Hardware sales as an SDR might be my only route though considering I know very little about programming. I just started to read more on it and will be starting a bootcamp soon online. Do you believe it's near impossible to get a job in SaaS without coding skills even as an SDR, or should I try to aim for a hardware based company?
Glad to hear you're getting value! Our bootcamp is live, you can check it our here: www.gujirecruiting.com/tech-sales-coaching You don't need to know how to program to sell software. I haven't written code in almost 10 years and had never written a database query and ended up global #1 two years in a row at a database company. What other questions do you have about breaking in? Let me know if you have questions about the bootcamp as well. Thanks!
I have been in Real estate sales and Marketing, my interest for tech grew not as a creator but as a sales person, I have taken a course as an SDR but I need a job I can brush myself and gather experience at an entry level. I don't mind a remote work. We don't have such position much here in Nigeria but I am ready to push myself. Can you recommend where to go look for such openings. Great video
Glad you enjoyed the video! I'm not sure what resources there are in Africa, as most remote positions in the US require the candidate to be based in North America. Does anyone else watching know of anything?
Maximiliano, glad you enjoyed the video! Good luck in the new role. Are there any specific aspects of your new role we could make more content on? We've got some more content coming soon but also always looking for relevant topics we can provide guidance on. Thanks!
@@techsales-higherlevels Maybe lead generation strategies, negotiation strategies, how to strategically advance sales tech. I added you to linkedin, happy to talk and get in touch with you.
Hi. I was just looking for and trying to understand this. I don’t know where to start from but I’m really interested and very willing to learn. Also, please could you help with how to make our resumes attractive? Thank you.
I will definitely make a video on resumes and keep you posted when it launches, thanks for subscribing! What is your background and what kind of tech sales jobs are you looking to get?
Enjoyed the video, I have 20 plus years of Tech experience, application development, integration and project management. I’m thinking of switching to Tech Sales. Would that be a good fit and what do you recommend as far as training. Thanks
Hey Churchill thanks for reaching out. I'd want to know more about your background and goals but there are tons of companies that could be a fit. Training wise there's a lot of good free content. If you're interested in a guided bootcamp and direct coaching from me, that is an option here: www.gujirecruiting.com/tech-sales-coaching I have worked with many STEM backgrounds to help them transition. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks!
