The hrx 537 are absolutely great mowers I’ve had a couple of them. If the drives go on them though they are not easy to fix, (Honda don’t seem to sell replacement gearboxes for them?) I would honestly say the hrh 536 would be a better bet for a four wheeler if your cutting large areas as they are a lot more robust, albeit pretty heavy. For smaller lawns where stripes aren’t a necessity though a nice finish is required I’d probably opt for an etesia 46. The hrx 537 does a great job though the finish it leaves for a 4 wheeler is unrivalled IMO, it’s just a shame the gearboxes aren’t very robust over a long period of time. Certainly not when you can’t easily replace them
I don’t know who makes the gearboxes on these. Might be general transmission. They provide gearboxes to pretty much everyone. Hopefully it doesn’t fail yet.
@@GregsMowing if it’s a new machine you should get at least a couple of decent years service. I’d honestly say aside from the common drive issue that they are the best all round mowers you can buy, so versatile. They leave a great finish for a four wheeler yet are capable of cutting the roughest of lawns whilst being a relatively light machine
I have a 536 HRD HX from 1996 and still starts at first pull, I got it for free 9 years ago from a proffesional gardener, so it had already run for millions of hours :-) In those 9 years I used 3 spark plugs and 3 times new oil, that's it. Don't think there is a better machine out there you can buy, maybe the same one :-) greetings from Belgium. (next spring I will buy a new blade ;-)
Change in work load. Was using prostripe. Proline and 41 pro. Too much hassle swapping mowers as can only carry two so just proline (or another 4 wheel) and 48 pro.
All those videos slagging off the Honda's and he's gone and bought a Hrx 🙈🤣 They're pretty good mower, nice and light. Wouldn't buy 1 myself tho, not commercial enough for me to disposable. They're half the quality and performance of the Hrh, maybe next time you'll do it properly 😉
Few people saying the same thing. I slagged off Honda pro rollers. Not there 4 wheelers. Bought for soft ground gardens I come across. The hrh are near 2k now so no thanks.
That’s my favourite mower, the hrx 537. I am looking for a rear roller , but the weight on all the 21 inch mowers puts me off. Leaning towards the hrx 476 qy rear roller. Be interested in your opinion. Thanks.
Well Brian I’ve had one of these before and knew what I was getting. I’ve slagged the hrd and hrh roller models. Not the 4 wheel Hondas. It’s not the best in the wet agree but I’m sure some tweaks can be made
Mainly the roller ones I don’t like. Very over rated and I have used them for years before. I have a video using one of these hrx before Mick from few years ago. Can’t believe how light it is compared to the Stihl and etesia obviously due to the plastic deck. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
