Thanks! Third time was definitely the charm with #4 - we had (and sold) two others prior to finding this one. She's from the childhood collection of someone my older daughter knows and was in the best condition of all three of them.
They all look lovely! I think #64 is my favorite. Love the colors in her outfit. And I love the picture of Corinne and "Cori" looking at each other like, "Hey, you look familiar." :) Thanks for sharing!
My Z always celebrates Lunar New Year. She has a hanbok that I made her years ago. Recently she’s been joined by Corinne who wears the new Lunar New Year dress (and yes, that nylon crinkle is horrible, but it does give the dress needed body). Even though the Japanese don’t celebrate Lunar New Year, my 84 who is Japanese dresses up in her Kimono to go to Z’s party. This year, I added my 75 who is half Filipino and I made him a traditional Barong Tagalog shirt. I like learning about the different ways that Lunar New Year is celebrated.
I recently read that "Some regions of Japan, including Okinawa Prefecture and the Amami Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture, celebrate Lunar New Year on the first day of the lunar calendar", so theoretically your 84 could be from a region that does celebrate it. Or she could just be dressing up to go to Z's party. And I saw the shirt you made for your 75 on Instagram - lovely job!
Thank you so much! Having a "room of requirement" in our dollhouse was a really good idea. I was able to "tear down" the yoga studio I had set up and create the LNY scene in about 15 minutes :)
@@agtakesover Kristie, you come up with such amazing creative ideologies for the AG community each week! I and many others appreciate seeing such creativity in our community through your work in your videos
Beautiful outfits. My favourite was in the Kimono. Amazing. Oh the Korean one is so pretty too! Happy Lunar New Year! I dressed my Robert Tonner Grace doll for Lunar New Year. I made a short of dressing her. 😉 The photo shoot was so cool!
Thanks - I'll have to go check out your short! And the photo shoot was set up in the "room of requirement" room in one of our basement dollhouses. It really was smart to leave one room a blank canvas so I could whip up little scenes like this one.
@@agtakesover Yes it's nice that you have a space to do quick set ups like that. I love your doll house spaces. I don't have anything like that. My dolls are just decorations all over my house. Sometimes I place them in little groupings or scenes but I don't have furniture or large accessories. This Lunar New year is the year of the dragon. I am a Dragon girl!
This was so fun! I loved seeing all of these outfits. You have such an extensive collection which makes these videos even more interesting. I especially love the outfit you have on #64, but they all look darling! 😍
I have found a couple gorgeous older 64s in the past couple of days on FB marketplace and I just want to share the listings to ppl like, "I already have two of her - GO GET this gorgeous girl!" lol. And 40 is so beautiful. Yenim on etsy has so many pretty hanboks!
Beautiful outfits and dolls, Kristie!!! Jess' old face mold and #4 are high on my AG wishlist 🤩🤩 I love outfits #1, #3 & #8. Thanks for sharing this amazing collection!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I would like to get another Etsy outfit (maybe traditional Korean outfit for a boy) this year but in order to keep to my budget that will wait till the end of the year to see if I have money left for it.
All the fabrics are so gorgeous! My Corinne custom is wearing Ivy's Lunar New Year Outfit and my Julie is wearing the Butterfly Brocade dress that is almost identical to the dress she wear on the cover of Happy New Year Julie! I love that they look like they're ready for a festival 🥰
You did such a fantastic jo with this video! I thoroughly enjoyed it! especially appreciate seeing the korean outfits and just love the new boy custom. I LOVE Corrine!
Love all of your beautiful dolls and the gorgeous outfits! My Asian girls have some serious outfit envy! I don't dress them for lunar new year and I should be!
Most of their outfits are ones I've gotten really reasonably. The blue hanbok Violet was in and the kimono our 64 is wearing are the only two I got new from Etsy, so they were pricier. Totally worth it, though.
Oh man sorry I missed the live chat. I got caught up doing something and missed the premiere. I just wanted to say I love all of the outfits. They are gorgeous. And you are right about the current lunar new year outfit. It does make an unpleasant sound when touched but is so pretty to look at. I currently have it on my unnamed 124. As you know I love the Jess mold. Your 54 is so pretty.
All good - Tonight it will be at 8 instead of 7. I love all these outfits, too. I'd like to get a couple more (in non-red colors just to mix it up a bit more). Maybe a second kimono and/or a Korean boy outfit. But that will have to wait till the end of the year to see if there's any money left in my doll budget (especially since I reduced my budget this year).
I wish I had been able to dress my dolls for lunar new year, but my 40 wore hers for Christmas time because it was a pants outfit haha I love the recent lunar new year best though!
Firstly love your staging, it is gorgeous as are your dolls. I think the first doll outfit reminds me of Carpantina, as does the boy doll's. Oh just as a tip unless your video camera is doing a mirror effect, then I seriously apologize, Japanese kimono are worn left over right (right over left is only for the unalive). The outfits are gorgeous. Thank you for the links. I have the red suit somewhere but not the accessories, when I bought an AG clothing lot, the seller added it. I sewed my Ivy a traditional kimono in a pale mint with butterflies, I actually love wearing kimono so know how to sew them and other traditional Japanese garments. I do celebrate Lunar New Year, but this year didn't dress my dolls for it. I love all your food accessories!
Thank you so much for the lovely. This year I learned that oome regions of Japan (ex: Okinawa Prefecture and the Amami Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture)celebrate Lunar New Year but that in general it's not celebrated throughout Japan. And my 64 does have the kimono with left over right (mirror effect on my phone) but that was due to luck, not cultural competence, so I really appreciate the information! The kimono you made sounds beautiful!
Ohhh my gosh I'm obsessed with all the outfits. I took lunar new year pictures last year but still might take them this year. My grandma was Japanese and lived in Korea when she was little and then moved back to Japan and later to the US. She never celebrated lunar new year but it's so interesting. So i include her on my pictures. 😂
I knew your father's side is Japanese because I've seen your "mini-dad" but it's nice to learn more about your family. This year I learned that some regions of Japan (ex: including Okinawa Prefecture and the Amami Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture) celebrate Lunar New Year but most Japanese ppl don't. Every day is an opportunity to learn something new, right?
Surely your grandmother celebrated a holiday called Seollal (Seolnal)? I assume she must have as it's a major Korean holiday. Seollal is the Korean name for the Lunar new year holiday!
We dressed a few dolls for Valentine's Day a few days ago - the little one helped pick everything out. I'm not making it a video, but it was fun and they look cute :)
TOTALLY LOVE your Asian dolls. I've never celebrated the Lunar New Year with my dolls. You'd think I would've with as many Asian dolls that I have. Next year for sure we'll celebrate. I'll need to start buying the outfits and more food. I have outfits for my My Twinn dolls, but they're too large for the American Girl dolls. I enjoyed your video. I watched AG4LIFE's video on the Lunar New Yesr celebration, and after watching both videos I TOTALLY WANT to have my dolls celebrate this holiday.
Beautiful outfits from the etsy sellers I have the AG outfits. I have not celebrated before but I want to start doing that with my three dolls, #30, Ivy and Nanea and I can use the AG outfits. I have been collecting more celebration outfits with a plan to celebrate the different events with small displays.
I don't want to set an unattainable goal but for celebrations I have the outfits for, I'd like to join the dolls in the celebration by making a food or reading a relevant book. I think there are so many celebrations I know only very superficial information about and it would be nice to use these doll outfits as a gateway to learning more about the traditions other people embrace.
No worries. Also, if you tap on the three dots to the right of any comment you make, you can edit it so you don't have to make separate comments. Easy-peasy!
Hey Kristie if i had the gong I'd send it ² to NP💗👍🏾 .That said if i see it anywhere in my travel's I'll still send it to ù.Of course I'd need uŕ addy in order ² send it lol🤣🤣🤣.
ebay seller hanban has the gong mallet for 12.99 with 5 dollar shipping. I hate to enable but seemed like a good price and you may be able to make an offer. this is not a seller known to me personally.
