Hey guuuys, here's a video on how I organise my climbing training throughout a week ! My training and exercises do change weekly but this is usually how I organise what training I do on which day.

Nice insight in you’re training! Nice to see how you adapt it on the go. Some grades and weights would have been nice but that’s probably a lot of editing work saved ;)

I also forget to think of putting the weights / grades in since it’s “obvious” for me what I’m using / doing lol 🤦‍♀️ I’ll make sure to put them all the time in the next vids !

Coooool! - you never had a coach? - how long is a "short monday climbing session"? 1hr? it looks like you still tried fairly hard; looks sub-max but not that far from max? - Do you like running or just find it helps even a strength sport like bouldering? - Hope your exams went well; what are you studying? - Papa kiffe pas le bloc ? :D La suisse est vraiment jolie, faudrait que je visite !

- Yes, i have a Swiss team coach ! - Approx 1 hour. The boulders I had tried are close to max but since I’ve worked on them quite a bit they’re a bit easier ahah - at first I was running for the wrong reasons, but I’ve started to enjoy running and find that it helps with bouldering. - Yeess, I passed all my exams, I’m studying forensic sciences ! - Il a le vertige alors il grimpe pas trop ahaha

Who else would love for the lead climbing to be normal speed + less cut? Or -- gasp -- a full lead climbing vid?! It's a special treat with Emil recently including his world cup attempts. I love watching the bouldering, training, biking, and running too... Thanks for being so thorough and taking us along on one of your insane training weeks.

So strong! I can't wait for the next comp season!!! How long is a typical climbing session for you? I wish I had the access to training equipment like you have. My gym has one hangboard, one campus board (just the edges), and a 5ftx5ft spray wall and it's the only gym within three hours and none of the other gyms that are three hours away don't even have better stuff

My Monday session was approx an hour and then my other sessions are around 2-3h depending on how I feel ! Ah damn .. it used to be like that for me a while back too but I’m lucky that a lot of new gyms opened up. It may be harder to find motivation but keep putting in the work and it will come ! Who knows, maybe you could open the next amazing gym where you live 😏

Using a climbing harness to add weight for dips and pull-ups is actually genius. I love it. Heres me with just a boring old dip belt instead haha

Why are you doing weighted hangboarding before you go to the moonboard? Do your fingers not get too tired after that for a moonboard sesh or is it just to get them extra warm and ready?

Hi Sofya! Inspiring video's you make :) just tuned in, not climbing that long yet. I was curious about your fitness session, do you do just those 1 set/3 reps each time we see in the video max weight? Or was this just to show what type of sets you do? I'm still lacking strenght and going to the gym myself. Trying to figure out what types of excersices & training duration works best to grow in climbing :-). Love & support from Belgium! Stay strong 💪🏼!

Thank you ! The video was just to show the exercises I do. Otherwise I do 3 sets of each exercises for 3 reps and I add a set every week up to 5 sets and then I head back to 3 sets for “rest week” (week 1: 3 sets, week 2: 4 sets, week 3: 5 sets, week 4: 3 sets, week 5: 3 sets and add weight, and so on). Hope that helps !

Great vid, like always ! Quick question : You kinda always climb at Totem. Do you feel like the problems in there are closer to what you see in comps than problems in other gyms like the Cube (best climbing gym - not biased) for example ?

Totem have 3 gyms which are quite close to where I live and easy access by train / bike (compared to the Cube which is a bit more of a struggle and a bit further away). I also have free entries at Totem and work there ahah Those are the main reasons but they’re boulders are a lot more comp style than other gyms that I go to !

A tips: that strap under your helmet doesn’t work if u fall if I don’t make it tighter under your cheek 💪

I hangboard after a warm up climbing session which is usually around an hour and includes some hard boulders just to make sure that my fingers are warm enough to hold max weight. I don’t hangboard after a 2-3h session. For campusing, it depends on the session. I do it before a climbing session if I have a power endurance session after. And I do it at the end if I’m working on new / hard boulders because I prefer to be better in the boulders than campusing.

2/4 of those climbing sessions will be around 8-10 where I tend to work on new hard boulders and lead routes. And then usually the other half would be exercises on the wall (5-7 maybe) (which I didn’t do that week 🙄) or like a Monday sesh where I climb approx an hour just to get moving, try old boulders I’ve already done, to get my fingers especially warm for hangboarding !

The climbing session before hangboarding is really just to warm my fingers up so can take between 30min to an hour. Nothing extremely hard ! And I don’t hangboard after moon boarding because i find the moonboard so hard and I squeeze the holds so much that after the session my fingers are really tired so i’d rather be in shape for hangboarding than moonboarding !

I feel like that at the moment, there’s still something missing (especially during comps) to be at the top and regularly.. I’m usually “close” to semi finals (if I had topped this boulder or done this move differently) but still quite far off finals. So I’m trying to figure out what’s missing and working on different stuff to get there !

It really depends on the week and how I feel but usually I also have a core session on top of what you saw in the video and I’ve now added some leg exercises to do during the week ! And sometimes I climb 5x/week but depends mainly on skin and how my fingers feel. So that approx makes 25h/ week.

I'm surprised your coach let's you campus/hang *after* your climbing session. Do you feel you are still able to put down a maximal effort in your hanging sessions that way?

When I hangboard, my climbing session before that isn’t more than an hour long and not too intense. I personally do it that way to make sure my fingers are warm. It doesn’t affect my hanging in anyway. For campusing, it depends on the session. I do it before a session if I have a power endurance session after. And I do it at the end if I’m working on new / hard boulders because I prefer to better in the boulders that campusing. And likewise, I don’t think it affects my campusing that much either. What usually affects hangboarding and campusing is how much I train throughout the week and not necessarily the session right before if you see what I mean.
