Bulova’s Precisionist movement ticks 16 times per second giving a smooth sweep similar to that of a Spring Drive.

It's a really bad look when he doesn't research well what he's trying to highlight in these videos. He thinks the Precisionist is comparable to a hybrid Seiko movement when it can't be further from the truth.

It's about time Oris came up with a new design,not only endless new colors.And for Stowa-i am speechless lol

I think their last new design (the propilot x) did not do so well. The mechanical altimeter watch was really cool, imo, but I agree. New dial colors only all the time is getting stale

I saw the Oris and immediately thought inspiration had been taken from the Christopher Ward C60 Atoll 300m.

The Oris has the 400 in-house movement is incredible with 120hours power reserve. The dial describes the tone of the sea which is nice. The Certina DS-1 is really value for money. I like the white dial with gold ring. But the other 2 variations also look very nice.❤

What's special about the CW C65 Super Compressor Elite is that it uses the same mechanism the original Super Compressor style watches of yore utilized. They incorporated a compression spring that upped the water resistance of the case as you went deeper underwater. Modern divers typically rely on a screw down back to achieve the same or even better water tightness. Watches don't rely on that mechanism nowadays but CW reversed engineered the compression spring system for the sake of authenticity. This is the closest you will get to buying a classic super compressor watch with modern construction techniques.

It's definitely very cool that it's a genuine super compressor, but perhaps a bit of a shame they could only manage 150m wr?
@lammyjammer6670
@lammyjammer6670 2 месяца назад
@@ApurtureSci I don't think it's a shame. There's a reason they don't use compression springs anymore. It's still cool tech nonetheless. It's the watch's gimmick so to speak 😂

0:48 I always enjoy these vids! According to the Oris website, this Aquis has a tungsten bezel. I have a 39mm tungsten bezel and it reflects light in a different way than stainless steel. The new version looks cool.

Gold will always lead to strange pricing on lower tier watches. The 18ct gold price is also currently way above that of platinum.

I've said it before, but I appreciate your videos so much. They drop overnight here in Australia, and watching your recaps with my Monday morning coffee before getting into work has been a steady routine now for a long time. I truly look forward to that moment - which i just experienced, by the way! I'm grateful to you for continuing to make these and I have no doubt that many others get the same value from them that I do. I really want that Oris! No way I can afford it at that price right now, though.

Another great video, I really appreciate your new release videos showing watches I would probably never see down here in New Zealand. Keep up the good work.

Just as a small note, the insert on the Oris is not ceramic, at least based on their website it is a "Tungsten minutes scale top ring".

Thank you for the correction. I thought it was a ceramic insert. Tungsten is an interesting choice. It will be super durable.

Really enjoy this weekly content from you. I think you are confusing Bulova's Precisionist movement with the Seiko Mecaquartz movement The Precisionist movement if far smoother than a mechanical movement, ticking 16 times per second. I love this movement.

Thank you! And thanks for the correction. 16 times per second is awesome. It glides like a Grand Seiko:)

Another great update, as usual 😊 love your videos as I've said many times. The Oris looks great, but the design now is just all played out imo. That Bulova is certainly one im going to have a look at. They have been on a roll recently, and this looks great, especially the green 💚 😀the CW SC is finally soemthjng they should have done, especially design wise for some time now, not too bad a price either. Certina is certainly the pic of the bunch along with the Bulova. All colourways look great, my choice would be the white and rose, looks great.

We're getting market strategy 101 from CW: launch a low profitability halo model to reposition brand perception and build awareness. Then drop an bunch of yawn models at elevated prices. With the bel canto and moon phase I thought they had genuinely moved on....but

I like the Certina day date not least because it reverts to 4Hz eta movement which like the 2824 should be easily regulated as required. Not a fan of Swatch Group 3Hz movements being widely used in their entry level brands. like Certina, Mido, Tissot, Hamilton etc. To me they've spoiled a lot of their more affordable brands by the change. Thanks for the weekly update.

Ever since I bought a watch from amzwatch , My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?

The Bulova precisionist is a great movement but can we have a 40, 20 with 100m+ that doesn't look like a knock off.

I think I would probably go for one of the Bulovas if I had to pick something out of this week's lineup. Not that I am in a position at the moment to be buying more watches, but when did that stop any of us from having opinions about watches we aren't in the market to actually buy lol?

Stowa better set aside some money to buy their own "Olympic medal" watches because who in the world is going to buy a sterile dial Fleiger watch with a gold case and no bracelet for $10k good lord

So sad that Oris has prioritized (and outpriced themselves) their inhouse movement over designing new watches.
@fark69
@fark69 2 месяца назад
I actually think it will be a move that pays off in the long run. As Tudor starts its ascent in price, the competition in the price range Oris is aiming for is not as intense and in-house movement making can change their whole brand story 5-10 years down the line

A lot of these premium expensive watches are a joke. Just because they are homages doesn't mean they have to boring, with cheap boring dials. Never applied indices, never interesting dial material, super boring, and a joke at nearly $10k, laughable.
