i haven't really got any questions but i have admired you for a few years now but only periodically comment. sending you love from the uk my bro, you're a fantastic human
Whenever ur video pop up on notification bar i leave everything and watch ur video only coz it gives me hard kick towards my goal and it really really motivates me and force me get up since u graduated from mit
Hey!! Great video! Btw, as far as i know, you have a degree in aerospace eng from MIT. But in the video you mentioned how worked as a software eng in a few startups. How did you do that? What languages did you learn? I am a mechanical eng freshman wanting to shift to mechatronics in grad school, which requires a lot of programming and i have no clue how to start :(
I think the good thing that MIT did for me, was make me learn coding. I was going down an autonomous system track, so I got exposed to coding throughout my time at MIT. I actually even coded in high school in my Object Oriented Program class. When it came to my first internship after freshman year, it was actually as a Software Engineering Intern. For you, I’d say look up the coding languages that are prominent in your field, and start trying to tackle small projects in the language of your choice. It’s never too late to start coding, and once you get the hang of it, those skills will help you understand other coding languages in the future. Best of luck!
@@KJHardrict salary isn't the best, long hours plus weekends (though weekends has been more voluntary work. Lots to do but little time to do it all). Another big factor is stability. Not knowing how long a business can last with numbers that aren't pretty (financial KPIs, etc.) and whether or not your position will survive if tough business decision needs to be made. Typical startup uncertainties as it tries to grow into a stable business. The technology and applications is interesting though. Has a bright future, but that doesn't guarantee business success
Yeah I feel that. Make any decisions off your personal experience, not mine. Best of luck with everything. Maybe it’ll make you feel better if you job hunt and see what’s out there before making a decision?
It is very hard to find the right and best ideas to start, and also it is again difficult to find the partner to start with.... Go alone and you can make it
I just graduated from B.Eng aerospace engineering in May and have trouble deciding which industries (semiconductor, aerospace, etc) and company to work at (government, MNC, start-up). Do you have any tips on choosing a suitable career and industry of focus? And also how do you achieve better work-life balance given the pressure to work under stress?
I think the biggest thing I can recommend is either start as an intern, or if you want to get paid right away, make sure to try and talk to people at the place you’re trying to apply to
Great vid! Do you think one should continue with the startup project even without funding when it is possible to create a bad version of the idea for free (e.g. as a nonprofit)?
If you have the time and resources to support you as you build out an idea, it’s always best to put off funding until you’ve solidified your idea and shown at least some need/interest
Startups is such a vague description. There could definitely be economic-focused startups. Yes, the website/application will probably require computer scientists, but the entire business model could use an economist’s optimizations
I was fortunate enough to experience a full time internship and also full time work in a University lab before making the decision. Internships for corporate jobs or starts could give you a better idea!
I’m actually working with an AI startup right now as an innovation engineer and product lead. I’ll give updates about what I do on a daily basis as soon as I can
@@KJHardrict When you figured out you wanted to be an aerospace engineer which steps did you take to get into a good university to achieve that. I am in highschool, sophmore year.
