Hey Cassandra! I'm a translator in Korean, so I checked the back of the bottles, the pomegranate mist says "PET" inside the recycle sign, below it says the pump is made of some other material, and the lid is PP. The moisturizer is just the same material, but without the pump. Love your videos, love you 🥰

@@rhonaldcastiglionemcbriard2023 If it's just the site, then you can google it, but yeah, if it's on the product itself, it can cause headache for many! But in fact, Korean language uses a phonetic writing system, so you can easily learn to read it :) Korean ingredient lists use English expressions for almost all chemical ingredients, they just write them with Korean letters. Plastic is not necessarily the devil, we need to push for better recycling! Glass doesn't just disappear either.
@whatshisnamegain1
@whatshisnamegain1 4 года назад
Also recycling glass is using up A LOT of energy which doesn't make it that eco-friendly. The best thing imo would be to re-use the same glass bottles and fill them up again, however this would is a huge logistical issue.
@littleblackpistol
@littleblackpistol 3 года назад
Glass is infinitely recyclable with many uses. Plastic is downcycled rather than actually recycled. It has limited number of times it can be made into something else and many types of plastic have no market uses so are not recycled much if at all. Only a couple are really used at all. Most plastic on the market is still first use, and then landfilled. Even much placed in recycling schemes is unusable, or not able to be sold on for any industrial use, so again, is landfilled straight from the recycling facility.
@Peanut_taco_muffin
@Peanut_taco_muffin 3 года назад
Absolutely and also the carbon emissions from producing glass vs plastic is astronomically higher. Also, only clear and amber glass is recyclable everywhere. Glass tinted other colors isnt even recyclable at all in some municipalities and many formulas can’t be housed in clear glass.

PUHLEASE make a video explaining snail mucin being used in skin care (especially k-beauty) . while i am not vegan , i only buy cruelty free and as of recently been trying to switch my products to vegan as well . companies will say that they collect the mucin after letting snails roam freely on a mesh in the dark for 30 mins , but i’ve also read that the only way to get the type of mucin that’s used for anti aging benefits , they have to irritate the snails because they release a certain type of slime?? lol not sure what’s true but i would love to hear ur thoughts & research on this topic. these products are gaining more hype lately and i think ppl should know the story behind how it’s actually made

Keshini Pillay how do you think they extract it? Hugging and petting the bees and snails ? To get the bee venom you obviously have to kill the bee
@SaffariRose
@SaffariRose 4 года назад
It's both! Snail mucin is basically the slime snails produce, however some brands go the extra mile to collect the mucin that is released when the snail is irritated, frightening or in perceived danger. The secretion is mean't to repair and restore any damages the snail (or its') body might think its' subjected to which is why it's believed to be great for skincare as a moisturizing, repairative treatment. In either case, the process is generally cruel free, but what you can check for in each brand practices, is if the snails are well taken care of and allowed to reguvenate with time. Constant production/collecting of this slime can rightfully be taxing for the snail through longer periods of time.

I've been using Frudia products for 2 years now and I highly recommend this brand! The products I use on a daily basis are the blueberry hydrating toner, the citrus brightening serum, and the citrus brightening moisturizer. These products really do work for me. I have combo skin and these products work wonders for my skin. I used to use Ole Hendrickson Vitamin C Gel Creme as my daytime moisturizer, but I switched to Frudia's citrus brightening moisturizer when I received a sample of it when I ordered backups of the blueberry toner, and I automatically fell in love! Kept my skin moisturized all day and never felt like my skin was dry towards the end of the day, like how Ole did. Imo K-beauty is so much much more advanced than most drugstore brands out there. And at a fraction of the price. The bigger brands really need to step up their formulations. K-beauty is becoming so big in, South Africa and I've personally seen a big improvement in my skin especially dark marks. Also their whole reason for the essence is that it hydrates your skin so that it absorbs the rwts of your serums or moisturisers better. I'm sure you can use a treatment toner and an essence. I do it atm and loving my skin

I use a few depending on the needs of my skin. They have products with BHA and AHA acids. The AHA is a chemical exfoliant and remove dead skin. So I'm sure it helps with dark marks. I am currently using the 8% AHA isntree essence. But I found I get blackheads if I don't use BHA so I use a 0.5% BHA toner from axis-y. I wouldn't suggest it because it has alcohol in it. But they do have other alternatives. And then I use Klairs Vitamin C serum with their Vitamin E Mask. Vitamin E apparently helps to let the Vitamin C absorb better and we all know Vitamin C is excellent for dark marks. I literally have amazing results within just a month
@keshinipillay5971
@keshinipillay5971 4 года назад
But you need to do your research first. You really do. And check what works for your skin. My skin can't take high concentrations of BHA or else I break out but the lower concentration does wonders at keeping my hormonal breakouts at bay

Quick question while I'm early. I was watching some videos by Dr. Vanita Rattan and she said that denatured alcohol is photo unstable. I looked around to see if I could find any evidence for this and I was struggling. Have you ever heard this? Would you be willing to do a video on photo unstable ingredients?
@CassandraBankson
@CassandraBankson 4 года назад
Hey gorgeous such a great question! When it comes to photostability, or light stability, many things can have different chemical reactions when exposed to UV, or other light waves! This isn’t my area of expertise, as it goes more into the physics and chemistry combination, which would then play into the biochemistry of the skin. That being said, I only recently found Dr VR and love love love the advice and information that is being shared online! I would tend to trust their opinion, however from my knowledge at this point, without doing major prior research, I do not know of instability of denatured alcohol in sunlight. When looking at the MSDS, it of course states to keep away from sources of ignition or heat, as alcohol, specifically denatured alcohol is very flammable. But this is a major difference and not the same as photostability. sds.chemtel.net/webclients/ram/XQ6210.pdf Considering that denatured alcohol is used in prescription drugs, as well as many over-the-counter products and even some sunscreens, (which are meant to go in the light), I would think that it is perfectly fine. Do keep in mind that denatured alcohol usually evaporates off the skin pretty quickly, because it is in fact denatured alcohol. Therefore in most products it is used as a solvent, and when applied to the skin it should evaporate off pretty quickly. It can also act as a penetration enhancer. That being said, I would love to speak to a physicist or chemist about this a bit more, and then use those findings to see if there is any negative implication in the bio chemistry of how this would impact skin! Thanks for asking such an insightful, and important question! It’s a pleasure to have you here! 🦋

Cassandra Bankson thank you so much for your response! I've been binging Dr. Vs content today and I love the info she's sharing. I love when someone's content makes me want to do more research. I wish I could just download a biochem degree into my brain!! I'm also going to share my question with some cosmetic chemists like April Basi and Lab Muffin! It would be so cool if after quarantine you were able to do some collabs with cosmetic chemists. It's only the sexiest job out there! Thanks again, Cassandra! "Kawaii Desu" (かわいい です | 可愛いです) (specifically means something more like "I am cute" "You are cute" or "It is cute" Depending on context. So technically you can still say "Kawaii desu" to refer to an object as cute but it is more common to simply just say Kawaii as it is. Hi ❤️ the story of this brand reminded me of Japanese Brand´s SKII and how they made their world famous essence, SKII Facial Treatment Essence Petra. They observed the hands of people who were making dough for breads with yeast. Their hands were younger looking than their faces, hence they brought the yeast to their skin care, and developed it to make it the groundbreaking "secret ingredient" in their products. I personally used that essence and is really nice on my sensitive, dry mature skin. Have you ever come across it? I am curious about what would you say about it. 5:16 I am very hesitant to purchase K-beauty products because of the issue of xenophobia and racism at a societal level. Many brands want to open up to the international market but seem very closed off regarding issues faced by other groups. This I feel is highlighted by the media's poor and very skewed coverage of the BLM protests (especially in the US) as well the blacklash people in Korea seem to face if they talk about prevalence of racism. Blackface is still a very common form of entertainment it seems and a recent outcry occured a few weeks ago... How many big businesses have spoken about BLM or even Kpop artists and their management? And some people think that it's not their problem to speak out or be involved but I disagree. It's the same issue as to clothing, makeup and skincare brands in the US being held accountable.

If we're talking eco, sustainable etc etc, how is something manufactured in Korea and flown or shipped 6000 miles across an ocean to California or 8000 miles to the east coast and then trucked around and then the plastic packaging landfilled (let's get real here, very little plastic is truly recyclable, and most still ends in landfill after first use) really in any way ecologically friendly. It takes vast amounts of fuel to transport these products around the world. Like food, better to buy local (as in manufactured in your own country) than have something flown in from another continent. It's not essential medicine. it's cleansers and toners.

@elizabuga4337
@elizabuga4337 3 года назад
@@Jl2damax alright fine, I’ll be more specific about my reasoning, since a RU-vid comment needs to be an essay on my thought process, I guess. US rules: You are supposed to put “ad” or “sponsored” both in text AND in audio in a place where it will not be easily missed. The title is the best place to do this, but saying it AND putting it in a text overlay at the very outset of the video is also acceptable. That comes directly from the FTC influencer guide. The spirit of the law also suggests that one should make the fact that her brand affiliation is clear, direct, and unconcealed, which is not the case in this video. She made it look the same as her other unsponsored videos on purpose. Also, it is not clear whether she is marketing solely to USA consumers, if U.K. consumers watch her videos, she is subject to U.K. advertising law for influencers, which is more strict and directly states, “Consumers should be able to recognise that something is an ad, without having to click or otherwise interact with it. Since it needs to be clear/obvious, consumers shouldn’t have to work to figure it out.”. Since stylevana is available in the U.K., it seems this is applicable.
