I have huge respect for the guy who said it was only his experience and you can't compare all of North Korea to what he has seen. It takes balls to not keep on bashing a country that practically "abused" you and say that everyone experiences it differently. Would love to meet him one day and just have a nice, long talk. You go, man.
@jimmynutrin9815
@jimmynutrin9815 7 лет назад
America "abused" North Korea? North Korea sits there threatening everyone every 3 months and is pretty much just left alone. Reading textbook propaganda about a massacre that may or may not have actually happened does not make you a victim of abuse.

Recently when I was on my gap year in Austria, I helped this woman with her map who turned out to be North Korean. She was on vacation and seemed like one of the higher ups. She was so sweet to me until she managed to ask me where I was from (we both spoke little to none of each other's language.) When I said I was from the United States she seemed..afraid? Distrustful? She was so shocked by my little act of kindness that she didn't know how to respond and I could tell that she was struggling with what she believed Americans were like and how I seemed quite different. It was so surreal...but I like to think that my small attempt at making a good impression helped in some way.

Amy Brewhouse I think you got this all wrong. The opposite is true: North Koreans are racist and bigoted! "The hideous huge nose Americans with scary looking eyes cut off the breast of Korean women, rip babies out of mothers wombs and feed them to dogs and finally hammer nails in to their head." Come on now Amy Brewhouse! Can't they get more bigoted and racist then that? Sadly many believes this shit! WTF?

Many people, especially those fascinated by communism and socialism, see some Pchyongyang videos or KCTV news and consider DPRK as an admirable country and don't know why are they told that the country is so bad. They just don't understand that the capital and the rest of the country are very different and DPRK gov doesn't allow anyone to even visit and record poorer regions, not mentioning prison camps.

Thank you so much Asian Boss, for this perspective. And I want to thank these people that have opened themselves up to give us a piece of their lives. I really hope people don't see this as "fake news", or attack these people. As an American, I am nervous about how tense and angry the world is right now-ESPECIALLY my country, and what we may be causing to help it be even more tense and angry... but as long as we try to keep lines of communication open and realize that the people we speak to are REAL people with lives, feelings, and a culture different from our own, maybe we can all then step back from this dark ledge... I don't know... I hope so anyways 😞 Thank you!

Anita I guess you haven't read how television affects our brains. There are real reasons to call it programming. It's presented in a nice package but if you look objectively at other's situations with other accounts of history you'll find the consequences of when victors write the history books. Example one, the native American culture - harmony with nature and no cancer. War mongers aren't typically good at other tasks as well, such as caring for each human life. We live in a closed system yet are killing our only home unnecessarily...

from my knowledge (being half Chinese with many Asian friends) a lot of people from Asia are weary of the US because of because we try to meddle with their governments. A lot of the post world war 2 wars are seen as America trying to forcefully control other countries' governments and peoples, but most of the rest of Asia isn't as resentful of America as North Korea. I know personally know that many Chinese feel prideful that China hasn't been split up like the Soviet Union or Yugoslavia.

"Slanted" eyes? Wow you're a special new breed of dumbfuck aren't you. When did you become the arbiter of what is and isn't attractive? A lot of people find Asian eyes to be very attractive. They're not slanted, the reason they look different is because of an epicanthal fold. I know that's a big word for you, so take a deep breath and try to sound it out slowly like they teach you on Sesame Street. While you're at it, try to look up what projection is if you have enough brain cells to rub together to learn something useful for once in your pathetic life.

I think beauty in east Asia is more hegemonic and beauty in America is more diverse and individualistic. Although there is a lot of individual expression in Japan with street fashions and cosplay, is there an equivalent in South Korea? It seems to me like South Koreans are a lot more picky than anyone else about specific beauty standards. They could have an exotic gazelle among them and not think her beautiful because she doesn't fit their mold. (At least, that's all just how it seems to me with my limited knowledge and experience.)

Even with all the spread of "Fake News" paranoia I don't think you have to worry about being labeled as that. Honestly all news has some bias depending on who the interviewer is and what type of questions are asked which is completely normal for secondary sources. For the most part you structure your questions without adding charged words and even inform the viewers where some of the bias may come from ( in this case first hand experience of living in North Korea) Thanks for another good video.

I seen where the North Korean gentlemen stated that he reads the youtube comments. It really fills me with joy to hear how his life has been changed. I don't know the right way to go about things, but as an American, I feel that helping the North Korean people escape the hell that the North Korean government causes is one of the most noble things my country can do. I want to see a unified Korea in my life time, and if Kim Jong In has to be replaced, I will be volunteering for military service to do whatever I can to help these people escape his tyrannical behavior. South Korea has a true ally in the United States, My grandfather served in Korea, and it would be my honor to finish what was started all those years ago, despite all the carnage that would come from a war.

I am more speaking about a conflict. If it comes down to it, America WILL be the backbone against a war on the peninsula. I am afraid that a lot of South Koreans are not putting as high of a price on the dprk having a deliverable nuke. I know Seoul will suffer heavy damage either way, but if a nuke is put on a missile, you will have at least a million incinerated instantly. It IS coming to a head, America will not allow the north to posses nuke tech and an ICBM, which estimates put it as close as 2 years away. My generation will fight the north on behalf of our own security, it is no longer a North v. South. Mark my words.

It seems that Americans put a higher price on personal freedom. I think that is why we take suck offense to the DPRK even existing. Their citizens don't even know what the reality is, I have yet to see a North Korean say, "man, I really regret escaping the north, it was so much better there". I am not going to be ignorant and say that America cares more about the North than the South Koreans, but it certainly seems like a lot of South Koreans do not wish to be bothered with dealing with the North. I am a big fan of South Korea, in fact I have opted in to some Korean classes, so I can better communicate when I eventually visit., their personal drive for being as productive as possible is truly amazing. But I also feel that same drive can overshadow some of the more important things.
@Hithere-qd5po
@Hithere-qd5po 7 лет назад
Your argument may have merit if the North Koreans did not threaten to level Seoul. Communism killed more people than anything else in the history of the world. You also talk about logic, what logic has the latest Kim shown? The logic of fratricide? The leader of this country killed his own kin. Their schools teach about reunification, but killing your own flesh and blood is on the table? I am sure if it was Russia having issues with the North, you would not care. It's obvious your resentment lies in The United States of America, as a nation. Not the merit of a war with the north.

well being from UK -- I have to say one thing and it is important -- Trump must not attack N.Korea - because otherwise the people there will believe it whole 100% --- and all we need to do is save N.K - so another method other than war is needed - but it is sounding more and more like Kim won't talk to the Russians --------------- for peace talks ----------- yeah I think something very bad will happen ---- but let just pray that Trump makes no mistakes let N.K. attack 1st and allow the Russians to interfere showing Kim how angry Trump is - so Kim should see 2 potential enemy and not one --- maybe that will demotivate Kim to go further

To the Asian Boss team, I cannot thank you enough for doing these projects and sharing these stories with the world. Recognizing the lies, the propaganda, and the assumptions from worldly viewpoints on North Korea, and from North Korean viewpoints on the outside world, and then communicating your discoveries with the internet is a powerful thing to do! As a member of the younger generation, I am so happy that I've found content on the internet that does not have anything to do with pop-culture nor trends. Asian Boss, I want to continue to divorce the misconceptions and gain the truths with you all. I have not found anything this moving on the internet before, and I hope you guys continue to do what you do! - Sending much love and respect from the University of California, Merced community

For those of you who are interested in finding out more about the North Korean education system that facilitates hatred towards America, please refer to PSCORE's "Forced to Hate." I'm one of the authors who first wrote this report in Korean. It's interesting to see how, although you can never generalize, many North Koreans share similar stories. It is hardly disputable, then, that the N.K government does a great job of systematically indoctrinating its population, even though more and more people are starting to realize the truth.
