The Alchemy tree is very strong, being able to use several potions that last for an hour, it overpowers your char.

This was a fail. I'm blasting through Death March right now with a full Alchemy build. Alchemy to me has the most potential (although it might take a bit longer to reap the reward because of finding diagrams) since every bomb, potion and oil can be upgraded to the superior level, along with your abilities. I think dude just needs to brush up on his skills. Plus if you're playing on normal, build shouldn't matter LOL!

One thing that helped me outrageously was getting the perk early on to have food and drink last 20 minutes. Not only does it give your food and drink ridiculous value, but it also makes swallow pretty much useless. I grab dried fruit (80 vit/sec) and if I get halfway dead, just eat one and roll away from trouble for about 5 seconds. Then I can finish the fight while my health continues to go up

this is stupid, every skills have their own pro & cons, no skill is useless. What more likely is player don't know what to do, what skills that prefer certain styles, all and all every OP build depends on managing activated skills and syncs it with your own combat styles or . . . play smart and effective

Alchemy is the best school in the game. Every point increases potion duration. Let me explain why -Bombs, with alchemy i can make more bombs and make the bombs explode into clusters, that may not seem all that impressive as its restricted to consumables but my charecter who is level 17 has 80 bombs that he can use, every bomb type i have 8 of and ten diagrams (i have mostly enhanced bombs) You can also make it so that even non damaging bombs deal up to 150 damage, so thats 80 bombs with a really wide splash damage zone that all do +150 damage. I can throw one grapeshot and take out a cluster of nekkers or bandits easily, or just spam bombs on harder enemies, putting them in a state of constant status effects (Northern wind+devils puffball+grapeshot+sammun ect) -Potions, so normally a potion lasts about one minute tops for a really upgraded potion and you can burn through all your boosting potions in one fight, If you invest into alchemy, every point drastically boosts your potion length, one use of cait can last ten minutes, one thunderbolt can last four minutes, i can have constant health regen with swallow for two minutes. You can also make it so that potions automatically heal you reguardless of what potion it is so worthless potions that are area specific can be used as emergency healing aids and if you pursue potions as much as i have that means you can basically be in a constant state of full health. -Oils, While i am sure most people apply oils when they can, alchemest get a lot more bang from their buck, one perk makes it so that you take almost half damage from enemies that you apply the oil to, other perks make you have many more charges or even poison enemies without needing a rune for that and as poison is based on % of health and not a static damage it means that you can poison even super tough enemies and kite them if need be. -Utility, so previous points are just about specific uses of specific alchemy stuff but overall what makes allchemy so badass is its utility, I can fight on par in physical combat to the person who invested into physical damage and cast signs on par with the person who invested into signs AT THE SAME TIME, i can see in the dark for pretty much however long i wish, swim in water for however long i want, walk past drowners and other creatures as they just mostly ignore me, walk through poison swamps and caves without ever worrying about being sick, i can take out groups of enemies quickly or remove a number of them from a fight, i can apply any debuff i want to any enemy i wish without needing a rune or sign for it. I never need to worry about food, i can optimize my setup to face any enemy in the game and incapacitate them. At level 12 i was able to take down a level 28 grave hag guarding a treasure. I have taken down a cyclops in an area of the map i was not supposed to get to at that point. I think alchemy is the strongest tree in the game.

Lmao alchemy is in my opinion the best tree of the game. There is a skill which maxed restored like 25% of your health with each potion you take,also the one that slows down time when an enemy counter attacks so you can dodge. Pair healing potions like White Raffard/Swallow with potions like Tawny Oul and White honey.Once your toxicity goes up,use white honey to negate it and then drink again,you can heal to full health 6+ times in 1 battle using alchemy skills.

On death march difficulty, it's all about Quen. You can use it to stay alive and use its alternate to regen health.

Keira Metz also has a respec potion, at least when you first meet her.

Oh hell, I use Igni like 75% of the time, I love it.

the guy totally suck in this game, if he says - don't put points in alchemy... this is the most interesting tree, because you have potions, oils, bombs, and a very decent bonus to health. Combat tree with ridiculous bonus to damage is for one button spammers. I play on second highest difficulty, and have no problem fighting enemies 3-5 levels higher than mine...

the most overpowered build is combination alchemy/fast attack. You are basically immortal and you also have tons of dmg (13k crits with fast attacks). But it is kinda boring after some time.

If you skip alchemy you're missing out on the game at it's best... alchemy is a big part of the game and the things you dismissed turn out to be so satisfying there's nothing like finding that last superior potion or decoction that you've wanted... then finding the last ingredient and finally making it and going back to that monster who gave you trouble then owning it while being a drugged up witcher

the ekidna decoction is awesome at higher difficulty levels because you can heal yourself every time you cast a sign so some investment into alchemy and signs are a good idea.

alchemy tree is almost like cheating if you know how to use it. My build now is so op now I'm almost untouchable by monsters, the strongest monster do jack shit worth of damage to me.

The merchant in novigrad: 1 potion Keira (Midcopse): A few potions Ermion, the druid from Skellige has like 10. Can be found by following main questline. Gremis (?) the master alchemist has plenty too, he has a quest related to him.

Am I the only one who just went all out dps pretty much? used the cat school technique, and put a shitload of points into fast attacks, in the end you have an attack where you just keep whirling your blade and as long as you hit your enemy you won't run out of stamina, you can also move while doing this so you can just get constant damage and critical hits by staying behind the enemy... I found this to be insanely powerful and was capable of taking out tough opponents in just a few seconds...

I invested heavily into the exploding shield and the mind control sign at the beginning. It feels like that gives you the best chance when you're playing on death march.

4:12 actually when your looking for Ciri and you meet up with yenefer at some castle of viking guys you get to talk to her at one point and she has the re-spec potion as well.

Iam going through the game with my griffin full mage build. Focused on Igni, quen and yrden. Its op with the griffin gear.

You know Igni and Aard are the most overpowered right? Igni can burn for insane damage and can easily kill a monster 17 levels above you. And Aard can make knock the enemies down, and you can just insta-kill all of the monsters. Plus Axii only rarely takes effect on tough monsters. Quen's really fun, very useful in a lot of cases, too.

This game has an awesome learning curve and plenty to experiment with. I recommend playing the game on at least second hardest difficulty to appreciate it when you invest in the right skill...

You can get the respec potion way earlier from Keira after doing Hunting a Witch and Wondering in The Dark quest. Only herbalist/mage I know to have one.

In my first playthrough, on Death March, i put a lot of points on alchemy and it really paid off. The amount of potions geralt could take really summed up to a lot of bonuses. Advising on not spending points on that is misinformation, imo.

I know this is probably late to mention, just got the game myself and these videos have been helping me tremendously. The Alchemist/herbalist/Druid Gremist in Skellige has 5 Clearance potions for sell if anyone is having trouble finding them or needs to respec more than once.

One ability i really liked and recommend is the spin attack its sooooooo useful against bosses and high level humans

Who else played the Witcher 3 for the first time in january 2020 and enjoying it ?

Ive just found an immortal deathmarch build. Went full alchemy with quen and a bit of axii. I also ALWAYS use the echnida decoction (the one which regens your health while wasting stamina) and now all I have to do is activate the round shield and let something hit me to regen almost fully. I also use the Ursine armor.

Nice. Thats a similar build to how i was looking to go. Glad this confirms. With games like this its easy to jump in without focus thinking can pick up all the skills..

Deatmarch + feline assassin build = awesome experience.

I'm on my first playthrough of this game. I haven't even found ciri yet, and I've already memorized the sign names, enemy vulnerabilities, etc. So far, this game is amazing. Lol

A lot of people are turned off on Alchemy because they try it early in the game. A lot of the Alchemy skills improve as you unlock potions oils bombs and higher-level versions of the same things. Also decoctions decoctions are amazing. At higher levels and Alchemy build just rocks.

I put most of my points into signs (especially Axi, it helps you with dialogue so much) and completely leveled up my toxicity in potions so I can use more.

Alchemy does suck in the beginning though. It is awesome later in the game. I put nothing into alchemy until about level 20, then I clear and get the good alchemy abilities first there are like 4 really good ones. Then one branch for signs, one branch for attack, find a spot for Griffin School techniques and you are good to go.

This 'Fancy Shop' Merchant, near St. Gregorys Bridge, also has the Elven Crossbow,...and Keira Metz (Blonde Witch) also has the 'Potion of Clearance' for sale, after you complete 'Wandering in the Dark'.

I've read about the respec potion in the loading screen but pretty useful for me to know where to get it from, witcher 3 has been amazing so far, just started this month :)

Can't believe a gaming site would condone or sponsor such a lack of gaming knowledge video. Alchemy can essentially put your character into God Mode and nearly impossible to die. This is just coming from a gamer, people you clearly have none employed.

This was very useful. Almost made me want to play this game I just have sitting on my shelf.

I started out my building with attack (fast attack and dodge to start) and then put some into Igni. Didn't even touch the alchemy tree until I was in Skellige. For every 2 in the trees now, I put stuff in alchemy. Occasionally I'll add 1 skill to the gold tree, but I don't do it often.

Pfft, every skill can be useful if you know how to combine things.

This is a good idea. I like the 3 general abilities you got. It allows for a sustained Quen to Heal, then immediately cast another one when it is broken

I am mostly skilling the Magic Tree , especially Yrden, because I use it a lot. I think the slow of Yrden is really usefull against big groups of enemies. Igni , Quen and Axii are awesome too. Aard i do not use so often, only against humans and nekkers.

Alchemy does really suck and is boring until tier 4-5 is unlocked. Aard is one of the most overpowered sign. Aard will knock down most non boss enemy: human, drowner, foglets, etc. When the finish it animation is active you are invincible for the duration of the time.

this was painful to watch as he goes through menus takes about the like mind control spell while having aard highlighted.... and actually know the names of the signs... its literally your job to know games and report about them

I wnet full green and loved it, preparing for a fight is what you need to do in green, know your enemy, apply the right oil and drink some decoctions that will give you the edge! its so much fun playing like that.

Thats the best thing about this game. You can do builds in each category and they are all very good if you know what you are doing.

If you're playing on lower difficulties you don't need to go into the alchemy trees, but if you're on Blood and Broken Bones or Death March you MUST put points into Alchemy. The top tier skills are OP as hell. I take full advantage of the one that gives a bonus to mutagen slots and the one that gives me bonus vitality when going over the toxicity "safe" threshold. With the new mutagen system added in Blood and Wine is use the special that adds bonus damage to sign intensity and swords based on toxicity level. So, after THREE decoctions, and a potion or two I have 200% bonus damage, 260% sign intensity and 12,600 vitality. Not to mentions my gear is based on getting critical attacks every other hit with +90% crit damage. Death March has never been so easy.

Alchemy and sword fighting it great but every time I play this game I always level up igni. I fucking love it.

Keira Metz in Velen has a ton of rare and high level items, including the respec potion, if you want to grind for them early on its possible but keep in mind that if you make the wrong choices with her quests you will be unable to reach her later on.

Use the alternate axii mode (makes an enemy your ally for a few seconds). One of the most op things in the game. Playing on DM now and it makes the game so easy. Also the one that lets you heal 10hp/second is really nice to have (if you're playing on a higher difficulty). Fast attack at max and the +5% attack with every piece of light gear you're wearing (you need the feline set with that, that's +20% attack). Make a greater red mutagen and put it in your mutagen slot that's right next to the combat skills you use. That's another +40% to attack. This combined with the alternate axii sign (you can still attack them when they're your ally) is really really strong.
