EFF & MKP isolated themselves. Let’s be real here. MKP was formed for JZ to blackmail the ANC because of his legal issues. We will see how long MKP lasts, if the most recent by-elections are an indication, it doesn’t look good for them. JZ if he is as innocent as he claims, he should be happy to go to court in front of the judge and prove his innocence. He has taken advantage of the legal system all these years. if judgements goes against his wishes we have the worst constitution in the world, if he wins he is the masterclass, and we have the best constitution. EFF has peaked, they will not surpass their past numbers. Neither will MK. Any growth for either party would've come from disgruntled ANC members...who are now most likely to form their own splinter should they depart from khongolse, in pursuit of parliamentary seats. the new age if coalitions breeds the formation of several small parties, with now real prospects for great numbers.

As an MK voter, I am very glad of being an opposition. It would make no sense to join the ANC & DA government. The mission is calling something a real alternative to the ANC. Speaking of joining them is insane for starters.

Both the MKParty and Economic Freedom Fighters had thought the GNU train was going to wait for them - they missed the train. South Africans in the majority do not have time to waste,. MKParty & EFF must blam themselves.

The problem I have with MK is because it only belongs to Zulu tribe. Judge Hlope has compromised his impartiality by joining MK ,how would he rein in corrupt Zuma and his gangsters. I think it's a good thing that eff and mk didn't join the GNU because doing so would have effectively killed our democracy, no opposition.

I know that there is a lot of disappointment from many in the fact that the EFF will not have a larger part in government, but they are exactly where they should be for now. There are so so many fundamental issues that South Africa must work through before any real progress or change can be realized, and it must start at the grassroots level. The direction South Africa is currently choosing is to insulate themselves by ignoring what is going on in the outside world and how that is and will effect them, as well as only looking at each person’ or area’s individual misery. Gone is the sense of connectedness or unity which allows, causes, and demands for real change. South Africa needs to get back the fighting spirit of Mandela and others who fought for, suffered, and even died for change. The fundamental and persistent issues which cripple most communities in South Africa really need to be fought for. Your revolutionaries were able to elicit great and lasting change in government by first making the voices of the people so loud that they could not be ignored. Change across Africa is slowly being achieved today by doing the same. This is the time for the EFF and other opposition to live up to their name by continuing to be out in the communities energizing and fighting for and with the people. This new GNU must be forced to deliver on all of the promises that they have made, and that is achieved through activism. There must be someone to insist on real and measurable change in areas like education, water quality, unemployment, electricity, and security. Without these fundamentals, real change and progress cannot be achieved. much groundwork must be set, and that is better done outside of the political arena. The people need to stop quietly asking for change from their couches in their living rooms, and actually get out and demand that change, knowing that they have the power to remove whoever does not deliver that change in the next election cycle. The EFF and other opposition definitely have a job to play in government, but first, the groundwork myst be set. This is the time for the EFF to live up to their name by continuing to be out in the communities energizing and fighting for and with the people. The people need to be reminded of the true power that they hold.

I'm disappointed because I really enjoyed Unfiltered but the bias toward EFF or Mk is becoming not-so-subtle and anything containing the DA (including the GNU) is an automatic dismissal. I'm not a DA voter but it's obvious there's a desire to prove even the new government is doomed to fail because the DA is there. You know it's true and we all have bias but this is no different now from watching SABC or Newsroom Afrika.

As for me Im glad my party didnt join the GNU. I didnt vote for GNU but for my party. Happy to be in opposition. Thanks Sizwe

If the politicians cared as much as they say then no GNU was needed. Why not simply decide on merits and make sure every decision can be tested against do unto others as you want done to yourself

The MK and EFF have won a moral victory. They have demonstrated that their fight is not for personal, selfish material accumulation but for principle and justice. I am so proud of them. The DA and others are the biggest losers.

The DANC will not be as celebratory as their fans on Twitter. EFF & MK were fighting for the same voters both with wild moments in the past term. If they cleaned their act up, there is room for growth. More even if they do a non compete agreement and divide target areas amongst them. Make it a formal coalition and this amplifies. The left behind who didn't vote will mever vote DANC. Mobilise them to participate successfully and you've got a very large minority if not knocking on the doors of majority. Zuma should come to terms with the toxicity in his name and brand (family included) & work behind the scenes and JuJu does his thing on important issues. We already know there are colonial mindsets, if you can't do anything about them leave them and focus on things that produce immediate results even if only in the mindset & confidence of Pan Africanism. They need people like Dr Sizwe in the backroom thinking up ideas or at least be a sounding board for their own.

There was never internal squabbling in MK. It was only one person obviously working for Ramaphosa that tried to destabilize the party.

Hi Sizwe my man, I'm happy for this episode well let me dive in, firstly I think the big problem for this opposition block will be Andile Mngxithama, the guy still hates the EFF with passion, recently Andile had a podcast where he bashed the EFF left right and centre especially Julius Malema and for me the sooner Andile stops that and find a way to work with the EFF the better, after all the party the praised the most ( PAC ) is now part of the governing pact. Either than that I think these two parties will work well together. I still have to hear the policies and ideologies of the MKP though bcz except for the hatred of Ramadollar I still wanna know what does MKP stand for. I know that there is too much love and respect between Dr Hlophe and EFF. Well how do they make their presence felt ...well they need to use the parliament constructively, use their ideological superiority to argue every issue raised in parliament, they also need to play at the feelings of those ANC members who are not really happy with how things have turned up as far as this GNU is concerned. They know the ANC conferences resolutions they need to speak on those. Outside parliament they need to hold marches against unemployment, marches on free education, cost of living, landlessnes, inequality economic freedom, industrialisation etc etc, they need to have rallies, they can do these collectively and sometimes individually as these parties. They need to point out failures of this "GNU" and as well tell the nation what are the alternatives... they need to tell the country what are their election manifestos as early as 4 years before 2029 elections and do so regularly until 2029 of course. The PAC, UDM, GOOD and to an extent PA will be non existent come 2029 because their leaders will be busy with their cabinet portfolios and to some extent implementing ANC policies. As for the ANC the question there is what is their succession plan ? Ramaphosa took them from. 57% to 40% ... now who in their ranks will take them from 40 to 51 ? Well I don't know and I'm sure they too do know. As for the MKP these guys need to formulate their leadership structure as a matter of urgency. As for the DA well those ones have for a long time reached their ceiling they are and will always be a +-20% party.

Thanks for this ... there is no crises with the MKP, at least. Firstly it was the ANC that sent Helicopters to go "feel" the MKP at Nkandla only to find the MKP position steadfast on the condition that Ramaphosa resigns for them to work with the ANC. The letter written by the EFF is clearly their attempt to draw Ramaphosa's head out his ass somewhat. We can conclude that Ramaphosa had concluded/decided long ago that he was better off working with the DA and nothing could have changed that. He is a weak president who's in this for his own protection we'll have to see how long this lasts. He is not the only one to blame though, the entire ANC-NEC and by extension the entire ANC is to blame. This arrangement will soon implode.

The DA has a PROVEN track record of debt- free governance, job creation and service- delivery in the Western Cape. They now have governing positions in every important ministry in the GNU albeit 6 deputy ministers. The deputies in energy&electricity, water&sanitation & higher education give me great hope. 👍 They will rise to the occasion and "Rescue SA" together with the partners. Their focus is Job Creation, Uplifting the poor, and sorting out South Africa's failing infrastructure. What's wrong with that? We can't ask for more than that.

MK going into a coalition with a Ramaphosa led ANC and the DA would be short sighted and set them up for long term failure. It would be disastrous.

I beg to differ Mhlekazi, i think it’s good moving forward to stick by their guns which will help them to gain trust from voters. Flip flopping is costing, EFF knows better. MK will have elective conference and have stable leadership respectively. The GNUs are in trouble as they have very little time which 5 to achieve anything with squabbles on the horizon. Only time to tell.
