Even though I think on paper Diniz outclassed Scaloni tactically, here we see the micro-aspects of the game come into play. Brazil had several 1v1s opportunities to score but were either saved or blocked by a defender. I think it just takes time for the youngsters to develop that experience. Whereas, Argentina had one good opportunity on goal and took it. Those little things add up in a game. And I really hope both Neymar and Messi can heal from their injuries. And I hate to see players develop chronic conditions like that.

Not just on paper. In the game as well. Tactically Brazil won the game. The flops up front screwed us. This team will only get better. As you've noticed, each call up by Diniz only gets better and better. Once Endrick/Vitor Roque, Vanderson, Paqueta, Estevao Willian get in the team along with Neymar, we won't just dominate south America but the world.

@@JustKrin Scaloni's team has already peaked. It's not gonna get better from now on. Of course they want to continue winning. But what I'm noticing is that Uruguay is reviving, and Brazil with all the talents coming up in the u20s and u17s mixed with a few good older players are gonna own the next generation. I give it a year before this starts to become clear. Another team to watch out for is Spain. They've got a generation that's gonna explode in a few years. I don't see that in Argentina. The players you mention, they don't have the potential of world class players like Di Maria, Arguero, or Messi.

The problem with Diniz's Brazil lies in the erosion of European playing habits among the playmakers. It was painful to witness Bruno repeatedly disrupt the system and lose possession due to impatience. I believe that if Neymar returns with Paquetá, they could transform this team into a formidable squad. Diniz's game is strong in fast passes and short dribbles; however, they tend to carry the ball too much and resort to the long ball too frequently. We can see the tatics are there, but they struggle against ingrained unconscious habits in the players.

also they have a lot more time, diniz works with brazil for like 15 days every 3-4 months, and while he is not with brazil he has to train fluminense and play a cup final like he did this last month. time plays a big role in a style that is not even close to what the players are used to playing and the fact that diniz cant really focus 100% of his time to brainstorm ways to do what he wants more efficiently plays a big role, imo.@@darkgenesis342

Seriously, anytime something goes wrong with theam or we don't have the best results possible, they start trash talking. And they don't spare anyone. We have amazing players who are among the best in the world, and play their heart out for the national team. I am Argentinian and I must say: I believe you deserved to win or at least a draw. The attack was awful. The pressure was excellent. The defense... impossible to know. It was not a good match, neither for Br, neither for Ar. But, I saw clear improvements. Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina know what this game it is all about. It flows in our veins. The talent is here! If there advantages depends on the organization, the freedom and frequency of kids playing... and I mean playing in the sense of enjoying (If you want a disruptive player he has to invent things while playing). Moreover, the population size (as our brothers from Uruguay always mention)... the economic resources... and the federation organization and work. You have the biggest population of the 3 countries. You have more resources... I do not know if the kids still play... but that is very long term. Maybe the problem is in the federation? It could not be worse than here... but the interine DT “thing” is a bad signal... so in the long term I have no doubt you will “come back”. In the short term... I am seeing you getting closer... as I said, there were massive improvements in the team. Not enough... yet. But you are in the way.

A crisis of coaching and coordination. A 20 year crisis in the making, actually. With most players building their careers in Europe and with less opportunities to learn their team members, we haven't been able to trasnalte talent into consistent good plays. Diniz is just a provisional coach of Brazil team, at least this is what supporters are aware since CBF told in many interviews the desire to have Ancelotti as coach of the team. Since he's in Real Madrid this is not possible until June of next year, for now, as a supporter, I see three things that are making the team bad in the moment: 1. Diniz vision is really easy to understand but not that easy to replicate in real game, it demands time of training to get a good chemistry like Fluminense team for example, thing that a national team don't have. 2. The players are not that confident to bow in his vision since he just a provisional coach and everything will be blow up when Ancelotti or another positional play coach lead the team 3. A lot of core players injured, not confortable, or not really experimented in the new scheme.

Hear me out, do you think on chance that Brazil's downfall is part of a wider "grand shift" in football? Cause Brazil isn't the only traditionally big team going through dreadful form at the moment, of course there's Germany too but **arguably** also Italy and Netherlands too. It seems that some former major teams had a downward spiral post 2014 World Cup, especially after the old guard retired. If I had to wager a guess I would assume it has something to do with how the up and coming talents are trained with their country's own unique style of playing football but football has shifted tactically against their special styles and so they are struggling to adapt in this new environment. I am reaching for straws here honestly but thought this was interesting enough to share. I probably sound really dumb though, so feel free to ignore my comment. 🗿 Great video, btw as always. Keep up the great work, mate, cheers.
@BIazy
@BIazy 6 месяцев назад
That's not a stupid comment, but I think if that applies, it's only to some select countries and is not the biggest reason for their downfall. Every national team has a different context. As an Italian, I can tell you that it's not really italy's managers that are lacking, so many of our managers are thriving, it's just that all the personnel charged of making big decisions in the Italian FA, Serie A etc are all incredibly incompetent and there is little to no analysis. They pick people based on past glory and not on how suited they are for a specific situation. Even Serie A teams are doing this a lot and it's a big reason for why Serie A has declined A LOT in the past 10 years (we went from best league in the world to 3rd or even 4th considering Bundesliga is developing very fast). They chose Mancini because of the past, and yes he won them a Euro (by luck) but it was nowhere near thanks to him. Tactically the team didn't work at all and he was pretty terrible in reality. Then we finally realized this after failing to qualify for the WC to NORTH MACEDONIA... Now we have Soaletti who is an excellent coach, but for me he is not the best pick. He is more of a club coach, who focuses on intricate tactics etc and he plays 4-2-3-1 when our italian players should obviously play a 3-5-2. Considering there was Conte as a free agent who plays a 3-5-2, is a great motivator etc I'm so mad that they didn't get him. Still good that they got Spaletti but he is not the perfect man for the situation, even though for clubs he is amazing and he did very well for Napoli.
@theflight5247
@theflight5247 6 месяцев назад
Not really. It's about talent and generation. Only Neymar is world class in this Brazilian generation. In the current squad, the only good players are Martinelli, Andre, Allisson, and our defenders. However, the u17 and u20 generation are full of world class talents. They don't just have one Neymar, but all of them are talented. We don't just have one world class forward, but at least, AT LEAST 4. It's just a matter of time. In two years Brazil will be Brazil again.

I agree, everybody plays the same way, those were the countries that had a "signature style" and were a challenge to everybody else because of that. Now everybody plays together in the same clubs and. have the same training. For example, at least with Brazil I can attest that part of the issue is that not enough time is being spent on training kids on rudiments and individual technique. That's what Brazil excelled at for so long. Kids would spend hours practicing the way of kicking the ball in its most basic sense to then learn tactics and be given a position. Think back of the past in Brazil, you had center backs that were almost as good as attacking midfielders at dribbling and handling the ball. You had so many player free kick options on every game. Now most are faster and better physically equipped because they're "packed and. shipped" to europe by age 18 without that level of basic rudimentary training. Anyway, your theory is similar to the one I have about this.
@BIazy
@BIazy 6 месяцев назад
@@theflight5247 I think there's a lot more context than just giving one "problem" that needs to be solved. Putting the blame on "world class players" is stupid, then how did Argentina win the WC over France who had more "world class players". It's more complex than that tbf and you'd need to have a deep analysis of Brazil's situation to understand better.

I’d argue it’s the opposite, teams are not playing the style that they used to. Brazil were playing JDP like a European team in the last World Cup. Argentina were poor in the 2018 World Cup when playing under Sampaoli who is also a JDP manager, things turned around when Scaloni has changed the tactics in his time in charge. Other instances like Holland and Italy I think it is player quality as well as tactical problems. Spain in a similar situation despite Nations League victory, they are miles off what they were a decade ago

We did lose to Argentina, but from my perspective it was the best match under Diniz's management. Yes, the team did lack effectiveness, and there's still an apparent lack of chemistry, since this team is just starting to play together. But Argentina didn't create a single GS opportunity in 90 minutes and found their way into scoring in an awesome header from Otamendi in a dead ball situation. About the playmaker, it is Neymar, he is the guy for it. And I do think Rodrygo has the potential and the skills to be a good replacement, but it will probably take time. About Ganso, he is one of my favorite players to watch, he is a football genius, but he lacks the intensity that is just necessary in modern football. Also, it was a bad game offensively, but Neymar, Vini and Paquetá are out, which makes it much more difficult. Once again, the biggest problem now is that there is a crisis, and we have no idea where the team is going. Diniz has four more matches in his contract and there is no signal whatsoever that he'll stay after that, so what is the point of going through this rough transition of styles if it ain't gonna last? I do believe he is coming, but in a scenario where Ancelotti doesn't come, CBF's President Ednaldo Rodrigues has no Plan B, and the last two years of preparation for the World Cup will turn into a huge question mark.

It is a very competitive global sport and sometimes shit coaches, bad call ups and injuries can undermine the performance of a highly talented national team. The question now is if Brazil can build a new team and renovate so it can return to try to compete for world titles again being the greatest men's team in the history of the game. I genuinely want Diniz to succeed because I'm aesthetically in love with his style. However, I think it might be too difficult with the Seleção. With Fluminense he has the advantage of working with the team everyday and he can pick players based on his needs. With the Seleção he only has them during international breaks and that's harder to change how the players play. That and as some have already mentioned, many very good players simply play too European to fit into this system, but based on skill level it's hard to exclude them. He would fit so well in this team, in Diniz's style of play and be that playmaker when Neymar is not around. He is the only brazillian player I can think that has the quality for the Seleção and has that "tempo setter" quality talked about in the video. He has been playing so well for the last months, ever since he was speculated at Man City he just decided to eat the ball in every game. Not calling him up has hurt the national team. Should've let him play while the investigation is ongoing since he is also playing for his club with no trouble.

As a Brazilian, it is unbelievable the amount of patience Diniz is getting from CBF. Believe me, before Tite, any coach with this number of losses would be fired right away. He made a huge amount of mistakes, especially with his substitutions over the last three games (it takes forever for him to change the team and he ALWAYS adds the new players in positions they are not used to playing). The Brazilian team is not a place for experiments, he is breaking negative records all the time. If CBF wants to try it, they should hire Diniz for the Brazilian Sub-20 team, not our main team. Our team was totally lost in the first two games, and I believe we did a better job against Argentina because the players didn't want to lose that game at all costs, but our team is a mess, a TOTAL mess.

I mean, thats actually the best thing to do, just play with dizin, theres few years of work before the world cup, they could really become legendary if they keep working, giving an opportunity and then give up on the trust would be dumb, so diniz should stay at any cost, having hum un the u21 wouldnt be a great choice, and i think he'll have better teams that would gonna ask for him, with all the respect

If this guy was treated as the other Brazilian managers are, he would be in the depths of Serie D by now as every job he has until this stint at Fluminense was a catastrophic failure. He would fail, and instead of dropping a level would go on to manage an even better team afterwards, and so on. A piece of trivia here: He called up 7 players that have the same agent as him. In Brazil those things are typically not coincidence.

I seriously question the efficiency of Diniz's tactics. Sure, he won a Libertadores with a "middle of the table" team and the way he managed Flumiense to the final was commendable, but never free of risk. In multiple occasions the "mini-games" within the games of Fluminenses winning campaign could have gone bad were not for one man: German Cano. This guy single-handedly tipped the balance in Fluminense's favour multiple times, including in the final match. He is a unique striker who probably never heard of xG's per shot zone. The way his mind works probably goes like this: "if I can see the white on the goalie's eyes, I will take the shot". I want to say that some 50% of the goals this man scored have very little to do with Diniz's tactics and more to do with his individual characteristics. He doesn't need to be "in the right" place to take a shot nor he needs the team to build him a good opportunity. Fluminenses' goalie could dispatch the ball from his own box and find Cano in the mid-field with two defenders on him and the man would probably take a shot at the goal from there "just because". He takes wild chances and scores and I think a lot of people fail to see how German Cano masked many of the flaws on Fluminenses' tactics. With that said, I want to point out that Brazil does not have anything close to a German Cano. Richarlison, Jesus, Endrick... none of them are near the state of grace Cano achieved in 2023 and when you combine that with a team who doesn't fully understand what the coach is trying to do you have a disaster in your hands. Brasil x Argentina was the best match Brasil played ever since Diniz took over. Analyze the other games under his management I guarantee you gonna have two bleeding eyes by the end of it.

Last video you made about Dinizismo I commented saying I trusted the project. I still do. Amazing defensive analysis, and attack analysis is ALWAYS the same, players are addicted to european football. Brazil has MUCH talent, but RAW talent. We need a metronome, Ganso is a good option and I think he should be given a chance! About Neymar, I don't agree he should be the metronome, his time has passed, last world cup was his last chance. This crisis is about how we are creating players and to do what? Last great Brazilian talents are almost ALL wingers. There are no players like Kaka, Rivaldo and etc, whom could do the playmaker role under Dinizismo works. For now I'd give it a chance for Ganso and Paquetá.

The point is that today's Brazilian players learn from a young age to develop tactics and physics to the detriment of developing technique and skills. In the past, the fundamentals (passing, shooting, dominating, heading, crossing, etc...) were the most important things for the development of players in the youth categories, and then when they went to Europe they started to develop more physical aspects. and tactics. Tele Santana (former coach known for his "art football" style) once said: "the fundamentals of football are the most important thing. There's no point in teaching a super elaborate tactic if he can't execute it."

The Brazilian national team lacks 4 players profile that Fluminense have. 1. Ganso, for the reasons on the video. 2. Marcelo, a great full back that can also dictate the tempo, and also have experience, dribles and attacking threat. 3. Cano, fearless striker that is ready to score no matter the situation and always is well positioned. 4. Nino, the defense black operator who knows exactly what the times need and which will help a lot in the build up. For me, his style of play doesn't match the players in the NT, especially because most of them use positional play in their clubs. And also, I think this style of play lack control and defensive qualities, two things I really appreciate. Anyways, the main culprit of this mess is CBF, that know all of it and even though they cared this plan and it ended up bad for everyone.

Bench Marquinhos and have Nino and Magalhaes in defence. Don't call Emerson Royal, instead call up a young rb from brazil, we have many. Put augusto as LB and Allison in goal. For the bench we can have Paulinho, Rodrygo, Martinelli, Everton Cebolinha,endrick. Then we need playmaker so call up Ganso(why not). It was a very unfair game, especially at the start. Argentina probably messed up the warm-ups with the situation in the grandstands where the police were attacking their families and Argentinean fans. The game itself is secondary in that context. Obviously, having 70 minutes of Messi injured is like playing with 10 players, which didn't help. But the biggest thing in this game was that Brazil committed so many fouls it was crazy. I don't have the data, but I'm pretty sure the Brazil national team had never made so many fouls in history, so it has to be a shameful record. They were desperate to pressure and stop Argentina from playing with the fouls, and there should have been way more yellow cards at the start. They made the game really ugly and deserved the loss.

I do think that Argentina played better against Uruguay than against Brazil. It seems that constant high pressure can easily complicate Argentina, specially if Messi and Enzo are not able to perform their best. Uruguay was a fair winner against Arg as per tactics and performance. Against Brazil, Arg was able to win almost exclusively due to good defender work (specially from Romero and Acuña) and Brazil no taking advantage of the goal situations they had (at least 2 of them we're really good). If they continue through this path, hopefully they Will find that missing player. I woukd love to see "jogo bonito" again, south america really needs of Arg, Bra and Uru at their best (and Colombia also, they donhave amazing players).

Argentina is going through significant problems involucrating the dirigency of AFA with the "coach team" (if that is what "cuerpo técnico" means). Scaloni recently put on doubt his stay in the national team. Analysts believe the reason for that has deeper meanings like a possible call out for Chiqui Tapia (the president of AFA). The practically bad level of Argentina could be due to a lack of motivation in the players and coach, explained by a lot of different events like: - The friendly matches of 2023 having been played against teams vastly inferior to Argentina. (Panamá, Curazao, Indonesia). - The very long trips to the location of the matches (China, Indonesia, (almost Córdoba, against Uruguay)). - AFA having not payed the players nor coach after Qatar 2022. - The clear use of Argentina's image to generate income (Explained by playing in China and Indonesia). (Sources are all around the internet) Argentina still is the best national team in the world, and this team is the best in Argentina's history, but if things keep going this way we are going to start losing everything. But I, like everyone that loves Argentina, hope this problem is solved before next year's qualifiers (actually pretty easy to solve but that depends entirely on AFA).

5:02 I was just thinking this, Brazil isn’t France and is tryna play like France. Most successful teams have a play maker, and Brazil hasn’t had one for real, in a long time. You look at Argentina for example, they’ve had Di Maria and then Messi has play lakers alongside lo censo, Enzo Fernandez now too. These guys can pass, and they can actually slow down games when they need to. Brazil is not France, and France at the moment is the only top team in the world imo that doesn’t need a slow paced player who can just make plays. Brazil have fast players and you can think of them as being able to copy France. But they can’t imo. They don’t have a lethal striker anymore, and honestly are kinda stuck in 2015-2020 Spain. -obviously Spain somehow got morata to always score even against good teams. But brazil? They really got nothing at the moment. And other comments mentioned this, but their top Brazilian players are really like system players now, and aren’t that good at scoring. Basically what I’m saying is that Brazil is really bad at attacking at the moment, oh I guess they are like Bayern before Kane. Yeah last years Bayern is basically Brazil at the moment. And that means they definitely aren’t gonna beat better teams than them any time soon.

the problem with the "Dniniz-ism" strategy is that it doesnt work if the players themselves dont have the time to practice and absorb its functionality. which in a national team is basically impossible to happen, as they only have a couple of weeks at most to train before going back and erasing everything they learned. only to repeat the cycle again next time they are selected to play for the seleçao. for a team, that can build and understand it? sure, its great, but its not for a national team. which it was considered a gamble, that didnt pay off. ironically, the ONLY player to actually absorb and be able to make it work with his own playstyle was Neymar. the rest of the team was completely lost, between what Diniz want them to do, and the years of conditioning and training they have ingrained in their muscles.

In my opinion as a Fluminense supporter and a fan of Diniz's work choosing him as a coach for the national team was a mistake. First there's the issue of him having to share his atention between both his club and the seleção, but more importantly, Diniz is a proponent of a very different and new football philosophy, it is difficult for players to adapt if they aren't practicing regularly with him as is the case with the seleção.

Truly an amazing analysis. I been seeing the same problems on the way the team plays, Neymar really is missed. He is a player that takes on responsibility and creates spaces like few. I think Zé Rafael and Raphael Veiga, both from palmeiras, Gerson (Flamengo), Caio Alexandre (Fortaleza), Maycon (Corinthians), Anderson Talisca (Al Nassr), apart from those you mentioned, are some midfielders that could fit the style. For the defense spot i think Murillo (Nottigham Forest) is the perfect player. Just arrived in england from Corinthians and is a incredible player, very technical and fast, should fit right in. Robert Renan (Zenit) is another player from the same academy as Murillo and Marquinhos (Corithians) and is class too, Alex Sandro is a player that maybe could have a shot in that CB position aswell. Marcelo (Fluminense) is a player that is familiar with the Diniz style and is still an increble left back, deserves a call up, his experience and technical ability could really help the team a lot. On the attack i think Firmino (Al Ahli) deserves a shot. He is not in the same form as he once was, but he is still a class player. A number 9 that plays like a 10, works really well with little space with great dribbling, passing and inteligence. Malcolm (Al Hilal) could work aswell. Paulinho (Atletico Mineiro) definitely deserves more chances.

Ganso is the last "classic 10" of brazil. As you said, this type of player doesn't have a space in modern european positional play. Riquelme recently said the same thing. There's no more argentinian's "10 " players like Riquelme, Messi, Maradona... and Brazilian's like Zico, Sócrates, Raí, Falcão, Rivellino, Ronaldinho and etc... (i even put Pelé on it) Since 2010, everyone that worked with GANSO (players and coaches) said that he's a GENIUS, he do and see things that no one CAN'T. But people like Dunga, Sampaoli and the media almost destroyed his carrer...

Tbh Argentina was repeating the World Cup 11's but the good ones were in the bench. Only 1 year has passed but the team needs a little rethinking

Diniz's teams often rely on fouls as a strategy to stop the opposing team.

Brazil has lost “joga bonito”. They’re literally just a European team without the excitement of Brazilian style.

Brazil used to be scary just by looking at their bench..it evaporated or other countries caught up.

The lack of Paqueta is really hurting Brazil, in my opinion. I also believe that Diniz's style will take time to work, especially as most players are used to the European system.

what about Ganso replacing Neymar as the No. 10? I've been hearing good things about him over at Fluminese and how he's been that "playmaker" Would he be good enough to slot in for Neymar?

Only players of Ronaldinho, Robinho and Ronaldo's calibr can complately replace Neymar Jr. Ganso is really good but not enough to replace Ney.

It was a weird match since the beginning. Neither both of the teams played focused in the game.

I don't think it's injury: Messi is 36 years old, age has caught up. The front two of Argentina was very weak. Brazil should've capitalized on the emotional weakness of Argentina in the first half itself.

You'll say this,but then you see Argentina win Copa America again,with Messi both getting POTT and topping the forward stats.

Bom modelo , má execussão, e isso é devido a falta de Treinos , o Diniz precisa de 2 anos Treinando a Seleção, aí podemos vêr os resultados nítidos .

Brazil will be fine once they actually nail down a full time manager and a clear approach to playing. Brazil will always be a team with top class players. But they also bring their playing habits from their European clubs. The organisation and management chaos at the federation level is affecting the team.
