I was studying to be an Actuary, Now I’m a Software Engineering assistant at the Vegas Strip in one of their casino hotels Next year I expect to be promoted and make $80K a year
@@EtchedActuarial yes since you are involved in the risk selection process and establishing premium rate levels you are closely related and attached to the pricing department. So it could also be a good career choice for those who are looking for alternative without going too far away from pricing
Hello. My son is a junior in HS. He is thinking of taking the path of being an acctuarial. What can you recommend for a major? Is it better to go straight to acctrual science or another route? Thank you so much!
My top pick is definitely majoring in actuarial science. If your son is 100% decided, then actuarial science is the best choice. I had a video where I ranked the best degrees you can take if you want to become an actuary. You can check it here: ru-vid.comIl3nDavnBiQ?si=MV2PlzFVAfjZQHw7 Hope this helps! 🙂
Hi! Let's say that I went the SOA path and ended up becoming a Fellow and worked in Health Insurance. Would it be possible to get a P&C Actuary job? Or would you have to go through CAS?
Hi Roberto! Quantitative analysis could be a backup option. FRM isn't my area of expertise, but I do have an article covering the differences between SOA and CAS (including salary) which you can see here: etchedactuarial.com/cas-vs-soa/#:~:text=SOA%20vs.,%2C%20health%2C%20pensions%20and%20retirement.
