Spornia net is the best for practice. So easy to set up and tear down. If you are looking to transport and set up weekly. Spornis is the way to go. Nice video!

I have a spg7 with side net on the right side and have shanked quite a few and never had any not be caught. I also use it with a rapsodo mlm2pro launch monitor (and prev garmin r10) and have no issues with detection and spacing from the net. The travel distance to the actual impact screen is more than adequate. However - I practice inside my garage not outdoors pointing into neighbours houses, and I've not done any high sky ball slices/sky shanks? like the lady he showed. To be fair, she has set up her mat a very noticeable distance from the net which is very strange and i would not recommend that as it massively increases the chance of a shank or hook not being caught. I'd echo that you always want to be lined up with the middle of the net (so your mat will be offset to the centre) and your mat should sit a short distance from the base/ball return of the net. I don't use full shot lob wedges as i don't put up the sky ball protector thing as it adds time to pack down/set up (for me set up takes 1-2mins and pack down takes 2 mins). Finally i rarely use driver as my garage ceiling height is too low and gives me indoor swing syndrome 😂 if i was belting full driver outdoors id be most worried about sky hooks/balls where you get underneath the ball and hit the crown. Some of those might not be caught depending on how vertical the ball comes out and if you set up your mat farther back from the net like the lady. All in all for me the net has been amazing for how easy it is to setup and packdown, the tiny amount of space it takes when packed down, the intelligent design, the quality of the materials (3+ years of hitting into the net and the impact screen shows zero wear) and how strong a training aid it is when paired with a launch monitor - you can practice at home and get objective feedback from your numbers like carry, spin, direction/dispersion etc or even play sim golf. To be honest any good net with a launch monitor is a total game changer, i just think for limited space where you cant leave the net up all the time, the spg7 is the best there is.

Maybe an issue outside, but never had a problem with this in my basement. Great net! Love it!

Thanks Ben. It's made me nervous to use any net in my garden to practice full shots...the risk isn't worth the reward in my mind.

@@mikegriff89 What's not transparent? reviews are always opinion to some degree, but I fail to see what your point is. His review validated a concern I had. He didn't say he hated the net. Idk he seemed pretty transparent to me.

Great video with explanations, I quite literally just got the Spornia 8 and I have to push back a bit on your shankability take, especially in showing that lady miss two to the right off. To that part (the girl) I'd say most importantly she's probably 12 feet (maybe even a little more) from that impact screen rather than 8-9 at the most.. 3 feet means a TON, she probably catches the net if she's up 3 feet. Plus, and granted this brings in a brand new price point (get what you pay for) but that full foot difference both in width and height between the Spornia 7 and 8 is significant. So between that and hitting from 12 feet away, that's why.. What I would be far more concerned about is if you have that safety net accessory off and you shank a ball through that netting---or you sky a high lofted wedge or 5 wood right the roof. Then I'd be far more concerned about the safety of your surroundings. But if you're having a 7 foot instead of 8 foot net, no side netting and hitting 4-5 feet farther back than you need to with this net, well----just begging for something bad to happen.. PS: To reiterate I enjoyed your video, look forward to seeing more!

I have this on pre-order with a side net and now I have serious doubts. I like the ease of setting it up an down and thankfully I don't shank the ball often but that is not to say that it won't happen. The other Forb net you reviewed would a pain to put up and down all the time. Hmm going to have to rethink this one, I need to find something that will protect my neighbours house 😂

Sorry to have caused you serious doubts. Hopefully I was clear in the video, there is no fault with the net, and I know there are many happy users...but I can confirm I don't feel comfortable using it in my garden, and I think there's others such as yourself who could be in the same position. I agree, the Forb is not as easy to set up and put down....maybe I should try to make something myself?!

@@GolfGuyReviews I did actually wonder if the side nets were any use but I’m glad you did an honest review as I’ve seen others saying it stops shanks. I did consider a Costco net but it’s a permanent fixture but cheaper than the Spornia but again I’m not sure it’ll stop a stray ball.

Don’t worry Michael. I’m a bit disappointed with Kevin in this review as he’s doing his best to find issues with the Spornia. I have the 7 foot and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made in years. 2 of my friends have the 8 foot with the simulator set-up. Yes, it’s not perfect, if you’re 3 foot back from the net a shank can miss it but if you set it up with the mat close to net you will find it hard to miss the net.

@@mikegriff89 that’s good to know. I did cancel my order as I want to use it with a launch monitor and if it is too far back it won’t pick up the flight. It has more positives than negatives but the negatives could be costly lol

Hi Kevin. I’m a bit disappointed with this video review to be honest. It feels like you’ve done your best to find flaws in the Spornia net, to benefit the Forb net. Are you affiliated to Forb? Furthermore, the video title is misleading and some of the information you provided is incorrect. The main one being the cost - It’s £319.99, not £360. I can see it’s actually on sale for £287.99 at the moment. Another misleading piece in the video is Keeks video, you highlighted two times she shanked it but you didn’t mention that she didn’t have side nets or that the mat is set up far back from net. You also didn’t mention that she uses it on a daily basis and has probably hit 1000s of balls into it. As mentioned above, you compared the Forb net quite a lot, highlighting some features being better than Spornia, the main one being the size but you didn’t mention the bigger Spornia net is the same size of the Forb 8ft x 8ft. Id also like to know: - how long does it take to set up the Forb net? I see some screws are needed to keep it upright, does it need some tools to put it together? - there is very little protection at the back of the Forb net, I question it’s durability especially with driver. Do you have confidence driving into the Forb? - It doesn’t look portable, is it? - does it return each ball you hit or do you have to go into it every time to collect each ball. - can you use it for a simulator set up? - the Forb is not really a net is it, I believe it’s more of a cage, would you agree? Looking forward to reply to my questions. Thank you.

Hi Mike Thanks for taking the time to comment on my review. I’m sorry you feel that way about my content. I’ve taken the time to respond to your questions below. But first I just want to confirm what I say towards the end of this video…I currently feel neither the Spornia or Forb, or likely any other net, is suitable for my garden set up. I feel I’m also very clear that, if you’re comfortable the Spornia is right for your situation, it’s a great quality net that’s very portable. To address your specific questions: - I have affiliate links for both the Spornia and Forb nets. Affiliate links help fund the channel, but I like to think I don’t promote them heavily. I don’t allow any affiliate programmes to influence my reviews. Previously I have strongly criticised products while still providing affiliate links for anyone who wishes to purchase the product based on the information they’ve learned. - The current RRP of the SPG7 net on the Spornia UK website is £360. It is currently on offer for £319 with a further 10% off available for pre-orders as it is currently out of stock - spornia.uk/collections/golf-practice-nets-bundles - In my videos I refer to the rrp, as this will give a fair and consistent price point for any products I review. I cannot control or predict when discounts will be available. - The two clips from KeeksGolf were used to simply to highlight it’s well within the realms of possibility for shots to miss the net, not to highlight an inbuilt vulnerability of this specific net. I believe comments on this video from other golfers, along with my own experience of a shot missing the net (when positioned close and central), have confirmed this point. - I feel comfortable that I make clear there’s an 8ft version of the Spornia - Feel free to watch my full review of the Forb net as I address many of your questions directly. In the video I show it takes me around 8 minutes to set it up, without the use of any tools, just a step ladder. I do make it very clear in this video the Spornia is a far simpler set up and put down solution once your get the hang of it. The Forb is portable, but is quite heavy - a point I make clear in that review. I feel I also clearly highlight the portability of the the Spornia as a clear positive. - The Forb does not return the ball. - The Forb has 2 nets at the rear. I didn’t have concerns hitting driver into it at the time. However I since wouldn’t based on the risk of my surrounding, rather than the quality of the net. - The Forb can be used as a simulator if you purchase a 3rd party screen to attach to the rear net. - The Forb is not a cage, as it’s not big enough for me to stand inside and complete a full swing (I wish it was a cage as this would be a solution I’d be more willing to use in my garden) I hope you’ve found this reply helpful. Kind regards Kevin
