Gh7 will be a interchangeable lens camcorder that shoots native 2k downsampled from 6k up to 480fps in full raw with full autofocus and a built in ssd mount. It will have 12 axis ibis and a folding stock with optional weights to balance long lenses. It will also come equipped with ai guided lasers for destroying the sensors of any lesser camera brands it sees.

Definitely light weight is the way to go. Small cameras with great ibis and great focus and some slow mo. Doesn't have to be more than 240fps and maybe some IA tracking. That's it. That's all you need. Love your show. I watch every day.

If there is a GH6s soon, I suspect that it will be just a g9ii in a GH6 body with some unlocked recording modes and thermal management. I expect a GH7 to be a much more significant upgrade, like internal NDs and dual native ISO. Like you said, the whole point of compromising to a smaller sensor is to get some sort of premium advantage in return.

The problem is, cameras without some sort of active cooling suffer from hot and stuck pixels, even if the body or processor doesn't overheat. So I don't think we'll get a GH or an S1H refresh without active cooling. Also some people seem to suggest global shutter on a GH7. The A9iii is going to have terrible DR and low light performance as it's base ISO is 250 and doesn't have a second native ISO. On a MFT size sensor, it is going to be even worse. No thank you. Rolling shutter is not problematic on the MFT cameras anyway and the IBIS helps to smooth it out further.

You were absolutely right. That is so cheap that Panasonic put the G9II into the S5II body. Do a G85/G95 body with those specs, like the ZV-E1. Panasonic is good but so on the wrong route.

yes ..there are people who need LONG record ability. I shoot long music events, so the gh6 unlimited mit fan AWESOME. but a gh7 would be interesting.

It seems like the GH6 didn't catch on. The G9 II looks like it is going to keep Panasonic in MFT. I'd say the follow up to the GH6 will be right around the corner with PDAF. I've got the GH6 and paid $1,300 as open box from B&H. I feel like it's a bargain at that price.

Eventually Panasonic will release a smaller MFT camera with the specs we want, but I got tired of waiting and sold my MFT lenses and got the Canon R8 instead. It weighs even lighter than my old g85 and is full frame.

when going to smaller sensors i at least expect more slowmotion ... idk 4k 240fps at least, 4k 480fps and i buy it right away, and full hd 1000 fps that is it.

GH7 does need some sort of cooling, they're going to be used a ton for weddings and corporate video so long record times in the sun are very common use cases. Wouldn't mind seeing an FX3/30 style body for rigging and a traditional body maybe the size of an XT5 or XH2 with a little cooling.

@@SMGJohn lol it doesn't take a Saharan summer to overheat many cameras especially for long recordings. Even direct sunlight on a moderate spring day can toast many consumer/prosumer cameras. Heck if you attach a monitor to a ZV-E1 that thing will overheat indoors.

@@NeonShores Most cameras are not Panasonic or made with cheap aluminium heatsink recycled from old Toyota cars. The GH7 is most likely just gonna use the S5 II body style with a fan in the viewfinder house, the S5 II almost never overheats even in 52 degrees, and if you did shoot in 52 degrees like me, you paint your camera white (common practise with our production facility) to reduce the suns effect on it, otherwise you would have more issues than just an overheating camera. Further more, the GH5II was robust in hot weather, that thing had no fan. And the GH5 series were used in some bonkers conditions, just because laymen using Sony camera with recycled aluminium heatsink that often does not have thermal paste on them because they are made in Thailand, does not equate to every camera being in need of a fan.

Hey Toneh, not sure if you’ll see this. Just got an XT-30 II w/ the 18-55 as my first “real” camera. BUT, somehow the H store screwed up and sent me an EM5 MKII for free…. I like the form factor of the MKII but I really don’t trust that damn sushi company if the thing soils itself. Should I return the XT-30II and buy into M4/3? I tried a Panasonic gx85 and hated it. I know Olympus is dead but Fuji hasn’t been making me feel much better haha 😅 the build quality on this xt30 is ALRIGHT but it’s nothing to run home about, that damn em5 feels like a brick

480 fps with PDAF in 1080p... 240 fps with PDAF in 4k... 720fps 5-10 sec. FHD - HD mode... Leica 300mm 2.8 with tele... Dual native iso + internal ND. better EVF. No 8k or 6k.

Unlimited 6k is worth a lot for people filming events and sports. You can set up the camera and run it for a full event and use a second camera for closeups and things to cut in between. In Sports you can film with 60p and have the full playing field, zoom, pan and have slow motion if needed. Also, that cat should react to the loudest sound source or watch people walking by. It's 2024. Turning the head just left and right is so 1970's.

I do lots of video for live music primarily using a GH6. I want a gh7 with built-in audio that is as good as any external mic with better compression and limiter algorithms. The bass tends to be lackluster and the audio dips on loud noises creating an unnatural sound. Also, I want 8k video but I’ll probably have to wait for that in Mft.

I agree with everything you said. I used the GH6 for a pro shoot at a trade show on Tuesday and basked in the Panny's non-disgusting-Sony colour science and beautiful image, but as soon as my subject approached the camera, focus breathing happened. I have the A7C, but the stabe and colours are awful. I tried Catalyst Browse a lot and found the results to be trash. I was shocked at how good Topaz Video was at the beginning of your video! Why not just use that? Then we can choose a camera based on just stabe and not its slomo capability (BTW If you give us a Black Friday affiliate code for Topaz, I will buy it)

6K is over-reach for typical consumers. I don't like paying for 6K BS that I will never use. I want PDAF in all slow motion formats the camera has, for wildlife video. I don't care if the slow motion is FHD 1080p or 4K. I just want PDAF in slow motion video. Sony gives me 240 fps with PDAF. Canon R8 gives me 180 fps with good auto focus. Panny gives me 240 fps with contrast Single AF. Panny gives me a simple to operate system but continues to cripple slow motion video focus.

More people use unlimited 6K than use any sort of slow motion 😊 Camera companies meet the market where it is. Slow motion is not where most of the market is. In fact less of the market is there every day.

My guess is this: 1. Panasonic has multiple teams working on these products and they’re not coordinating very well 2. Panasonic doesn’t add some “necessary” features to their video cameras because they expect the users will want to bring their own gimbal (and other accessories), so they cut things like IBIS

To me, Part 2 conflicts with the primary value of Micro 4/3. The whole tradeoff of compromising your sensor size is to gain advantages that larger sensors struggle with and excellent IBIS is a major one of those advantages. If you take away excellent IBIS and plan on mostly using a gimbal and accessories, you have so many better competitors in that price range with larger sensors and better image quality. An FX30 is only $1,599, a Canon R6 is $2,159.. But you're right, Panasonic may be thinking that way, I just disagree with that strategy.

I'm curious bc all these people say that the G9ii doesn't have time limits.... they released specs on the Japan site that does the firmware updates. The limits seem worse than most prior cams, but I'm a nobody newbie micro 43 loser drowning in disinfo and I don't get why it says 30 min, 15 min, 7, 3, etc. Help!

It's laughable when the entire point of mft is to be smaller and lighter than full frame camera and yet, they are bigger than full frame mirrorless. Almost reaching full frame DSLR size and weight too. And then you got Sony making full frame smaller than APSC. Even obscure manufacturers like Leica are doing that. Sure, Leica is not video centric and they are overpriced garbage compared to the big three. But my point still stands.

doing conference and events in 6k in order to crop later to 4k.... but we are not youtubers .... camera companies should make a model for youtubers and one for people that make money from cameras ... period if you dont get it you dont get it ..... smartest thing for panny is to make a camcorder with a micro 4/3 sensor that has phase detect af and anyone in business will buy it ....but then it destroys the mirrorless sales ....oops

@@POVwithRC well if its small and does the job many will but surely i m no management stuff genious... i just say what i see in my circle of work... most videographers i know want different stuff than a youtuber, and most of them want reliability over bokeh... this year i sold all my gear because of reliability and because the cameras i was using had all the time issues, even though i loved the company .... its really different things and probably youtubers are more influential than working professionals but i m pretty sure that a gh series with bigger body like an ax53 and with unlimited 4k, true unlimited 4k is more important than 4k 120 for someone that does events and stuff....

Are you willing to pay upwards of $3500 for a G9II in an fx30 body + eVF? Video specs cost nothing except heat and battery - reducing the specs in software will not magically make the hardware or testing or development cost less. A new (smaller) system board + a lighter in specs Venus engine costs A LOT of money to develop. Miniaturizing the G9II would increase the cost way too much for the camera to make them money. And yes, people are shooting weddings with the GH6, hours and hours of video (all over EE)

where the hell is the video focused M4/3 Phase Detect camera from Panasonic? and please please please, Open gate at the full hight and width of the sensor at 50fps minimum. Gh5 could do this but amazingly the Gh6 can't!

Except: good ergonomics, good menus, good colors, good customer service, good evf, good screen resolution and looks, Good touchscreen integration... There's more to complain but these are the main let down preventing me to adopt a sony after trying 7ii, A6300, A6400.

First of all, GH7 will need to have a global shutter, anything else is secondary.
