Your videos just keep getting better and better. I finally got to where I could wall to air dribble pretty well and hitting them in games and decided today to start learning flip resets finally. Saw your video on my feed as soon as I loaded up YT today and it's killer! I'll be working on these all week!

One thing nobody mentions is Aerial Sensitivity. A lot of newer players have their sens down around 1.0-1.2 and this causes actions like DAR to go slower, and this makes mechanics like FR’s really hard because your car won’t rotate fast enough to quickly position for getting the FR. Players should be sure they get comfortable with higher aerial sensitivity and they will have a lot easier time making those quick transitions in the air.
@Grifflicious
@Grifflicious Год назад
Out of curiosity, do we have research on this? No that I don't believe you but rather, this makes me curious to look into a few other things this might apply to.
@EChaseWright
@EChaseWright Год назад
@@Grifflicious just from personal experience I raised my aerial sens from like 1.1 to 1.5 and suddenly the speed of my air roll rotations was much faster and harder to control, at first, but then once I got acclimated it allowed me to perform much better in the air

Thanks, man. When I can pull off those other things myself, I’ll be certain to make content on them but I have to not suck first lol. For what it’s worth, I found a new way to do a speed flip that I think I’m going to make a video on next. Been sifting through videos trying to see if anyone else has mentioned it and it might be totally new. Either way, I’m stoked about it.

Bro you’re videos about RL mechanics really cover the subject in-depth and, as a physics student, I like you’re scientific approach to it. Keep up the excellent work mate 🔥 Also I’d like to suggest you to look at the powerslide-cut mechanic of Flakes, it is a little difficult (but less than a flip reset) but one of if not the best (usefull) mechanic there is IMO. If you judge it interesting to do a video about it, I can’t wait to see it

Great video, I am an SSL Rocket League coach and love seeing what people have to say about Rocket League . This is getting really nit picky but one thing I notice you dont talk a lot about is when you boost into and or through the ball on the contact off the wall, as this is a huge problem area for a lot of people learning resets. Typically someone first learning them will boost through the ball getting the reset but hitting the ball too far away to make an efficient flip reset. You talk about it with momentum , but not really the reason you have that momentum AKA boosting too much. You really only need about 30 boost to get a good reset, even less if you can musty Lol (i understand that is too advanced for people learning flip resets for the first time. Therefore typically someone first learning them will boost through the ball getting the reset but hitting the ball too far away to make an efficient flip reset. You talk about it with momentum , but not really the reason you have that momentum. Edit: Of course if you have the car control, it wont matter to much because you can recover and still position correctly but that still makes it inefficient because you had to readjust to catch up to the ball. Rocket League is also situational so obviously in game, the time you have will also change how you approach the ball for one. I'd love to see your thoughts on situations that you should go for a reset, For example as you climb higher going for a flip reset when someone is prejumping you is just asking to get dunked especially if they have a teammate back someone is almost always going to prejump you to apply pressure and force you to use the flip.

Sorry for the long comment but I just want to illustrate what this video was able to do for me. I watched this video and the newest air roll video while I was at work yesterday. I have always had nom directional air roll and could never make any progress at all with directional air roll. When I got home from work I changed my bindings and started to practice in training packs and free play for a couple hours. It was going well so I decided to goof around with flip resets. Within 30 minutes I was catching the ball on the bottom of my car 90% of the time, getting a reset 50%, resetting and hitting the ball 25% and actually scoring on net about 5% of the time. I could not believe the results after just 2 hours of real practice air rolling and the 30 minutes of goofing. Before yesterday I had never purposefully landed a flip reset in my 300 hours. I’M BLOWN AWAY!!

Prerequisites for effectively learning flip resets: 1. Learn boost management in the ground and air. 2. Learn and practice the different ways of rolling and air rolling (when the ball is on your right, left, behind, top, bottom, etc...) 3. Learn the basic arial setup. I suggest watching Wayton for this. 4. Learn and practice how to consistently do simple arials, meaning every 30 attempts you get at least 25 goals. 5. Learn how much space is required between the car and the ball for a good flip reset. 6. Learn and practice the controls of preparing and turning your car during the flip reset setup (not shown in this video!) btw I'm C1 and don't know how to get my car in the right position for a flip reset, so that is why I added this^

I'm c2 and I've been practicing flip resets for a while. I can get the first one fine now I'm trying to get multiple or even mustys. I watched this to see if I could learn something new and tbh you talking about it as a recovery mechanic was really helpful. I changed the way I rotate based on your suggestion, after getting the flip. Another tip people might find helpful is holding the brakes when you make contact. It'll push your car back a bit which helps for getting the ball back in front of you. Cheers.

I'm D3 on the cusp of C1, so I've been starting to use the training pack and it is definitely a challenge. Instead of treating it like I have to be aerially precise and come right up to a stationary ball, I started thinking about it like the ball and cup game, where you try to fling the ball on a string into the cup. With my car being the cup, I stopped throwing the cup at the ball, hoping I'd catch it, and started putting my cup (car) in the path of the ball. It was a really simple reframing of the mechanic that helped me go from getting 1 out of 20 attempts to 1 in 5 or so. Going to keep working on this!

Hey! Freestyler here! I would like to add on to this amazing tutorial that having 2 directional air-rolls bound helps to make minor adjustments to your car, whether that be you over air-rolled one way or you just need to get your car into a particular position but don’t have the time to do a full 180 barrel roll. I would also like to add that if you prefer to air dribble after the reset, or go into more resets, getting a reset closer to the bottom of the ball is more ideal! Was a great video!

Man, I keep coming back to your videos over and over because they're such a good resource, and I always seem to find something new every time I watch them. I've watched this video at least half a dozen times now (admittedly, this is usually while I'm practicing in freeplay and therefore only half listening). But this time I caught what you said about boosting until the ball reaches its peak and then giving a tap of boost after you roll over to make contact on the ball. This was exactly the tip I needed to make things click. After countless hours of getting the reset but flying past the ball afterwards, or just not being able to use the reset for anything threatening, I'm FINALLY able to consistently get that reset and recover into a good position to use it. THANK YOU! You are a wonderful teacher and the way you break things down is second to none.

Great video! One thing no one seems to be explaining is that how to make car looking down rotating its wheels at the same time. It's probably airroll basics but still don't remember someone talking about it. I figured out that if the front of the car is up, and you see the top of your car, you can do two rotations in serial as explained in this video. To do that faster, you need to start pressing up (which will start the front moves down) and airroll at the same time. But you can't just keep pressing up with the joystick because the cars bottom will soon be looking to right/left and the up. Instead, move your joystick at the same speed of airroll to the side you are airrolling. This way, at any moment, your joystick will be rotating the car downwards. A quick breakdown would look like this: The car is on the air in a neutral position. You pressed up, the front goes down. You pressed airroll right until the car is sideways. You press right on the joystick, the car's front goes down even further. You pressed airroll again until the bottom of the car is looking up, and now press down on the joystick, which will make front move even lower. Check the video and see how he is doing it.

came back around to find your air roll tutorial cause i remember you had some good points from the first time i watched it, and now i saw this flip reset tutorial, which i was brute force learning it recently. TLDR: i love your content and decided to subscribe.

I usually don't hit the underside of the ball. I frontal faceplant into the ball with the underside of my car let myself and the ball fall whilst spinning backwards to get into a musty flick position and that's that.

So glad that the algorithm led me to you - nice tutorials and I am glad you mentioned some points that a lot of other creators or "ToP LeVEL LiVe COaCh" miss out on 🙃🌚 I would love to see you covering more of the basics as well, like shooting (which is the most basic mechanic, and yet very few know how to do it properly or even train it): as gc1 I would consider myself to be decent - but I just dont get it, how pros get 120+ kph shots out of almost every angle and situation.😐

Thank you! I have many more of these planned and I hope to see you back when they come out.

There are a bunch of cars where the ball fits in between the wheels without touching the wheels, and in my experience the front wheels need to both hit the ball with the bottom of the car. backwheels + car underside doesn't work that I can see, or at best unreliable. Good video tho and yes there are tons of stuff in specific mechanics that no one talks about which even led me to think I need to start making tutorials about the stuff no other videos talk about. Whether it's about timing or the mental game or simple stuff like don't hold throttle while aerialing etc.

The training pack isn't like it is in the video anymore, shot 2 it barely bounces most of the time..

Just discovered your channel recently, and you do a really great job of breaking down complicated mechanics in a way that most other videos can't. Thank you for making these helpful tutorials!

Why do you press the brake after every time you hit the ball in the air?
