I prefer metal to most other genres. While there isn't a lot of music I expressedly dislike, and I'll probably listen to it someday, but today is not that day.
GoldSrc Or Source I believe all genres, on average, are terrible, but they have the potential to make great music. Take rock for instance. There are plenty of terrible rock bands. But there’s always great ones too.
What Pink Floyd sounds like to non-listeners: Daddy issues, politics bad, school sucks, society doomed, and isolation set to bluesy guitars and haunting synths with ethereal vocal harmonies
Pink floyd really nailed their hit deep purple. Also it was their best guitarist Gene Hoglan's golden era. They really sound great with Lars singing. And lets not forget Tom Araya as their piano player. And And Cliff burton really stands out with the violin and Ozzy with the trumpet.
I recall vividly the first time I listened to Pink Floyd, without having a single clue to what was their sound, when I was 12. I booted up Dark Side of the Moon and stopped listening at track 3. I remember thinking that the intro was weird, Time was pretty cool and the third track was god awful. Than, years later, I found myself loving most of Pink Floyd albuns and listening a whole different thing that what I've heard when I was 12.
I did a 20 pages on the sound design in Pink Floyd. It's Insane how cool it is. The creation of electroacoustique music inside rock and progressive rock is so cool. My top 3 songs are Echoes, Shine On you crazy diamond and Dogs
dogs and shine on you are in my top 3 as well, good taste echoes is also one of my favorites. i’m fascinated with the ocean and all things associated with it, and i always imagined echoes as being about a sailors final moments before being dragged to the bottom of the ocean by mermaids
It seems to me, that when it comes to assessing the value of the work of a master, its important to recognize that, ideas and innovation, that is leagues ahead of the norm, will never be naturally or fully comprehended upon the first listen... or in some cases, the 100th. Those concepts and innovations that are far beyond us, will be impossible to fully appreciate until we have almost studied their work. With music, as is with art, science and philosophy. Only a fool would assume to immediately comprehend the intended depth of artistry from some one like, Salvadore Dali, James Joyce, Beethoven or Mahavishnu Orchestra. In my opinion, the majority of people I meet, I feel, are just too simple minded. The ideas and concepts most distant from where we presently are, will require many revisits and extensive consideration. If a master presents a work, and you do not understand or appreciate it, is not necessarily an indictment on the artist. Like Robert Anton Wilson always said, " Life is like a mirror, a monkey looks in and a monkey looks out. When a genius looks in a genius looks out." When a simpleton looks at the world, he does not see the same multifaceted and interconnected world as does the brilliant. That simpletons cannot conceive of the majesty of life and nature, is not an indictment on nature and existence.
"CLICK CLICK CLICKCLICK CHA CHING CHA CHING CLICK CLICK CLICK" "I DONT KNOW I WAS REALLY DRUNK AT THE TIME" "YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY PUDDING IF YOU DONT EAT YOUR MEAT" "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP CLICK"
Honestly, when I was new, my untrained ears took notice of : Casual everyday sounds : of footsteps/chimes/clocks of marching militants (the wall) Of jet planes Of cosmic motorised sounds (sorrow) Of bells Of frying bacon Of clearing throat/tuning radio Of knocking doors Of barn animals
***The Dark Side of Infinity*** Avengers: Infinity War & The Dark Side of the Moon Play Infinity War on mute, no subtitles. Start Dark Side of the Moon when Captain America THROWS his shield in the opening logo (spin that record). Make sure there are no breaks between songs. If you start hearing the heartbeat when Iron Man appears in the logo, you did it right. If not, try again.
