If you're really watching calories then air pop, yes. I've been using coconut oil to pop it, have a specific way i do it, and make the best popcorn west of the Mississippi 🍿
The one thing popcorn is not good for, unfortunately, is teeth. I heard about that from my uncle who is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Be careful with those hard, unpopped, kernels.
So true, I love it but it really messes with my teeth and gums! And I'm not just talking about the unpopped kernels... the little skins/shells of the popped kernels can slip between your teeth and even down into the gums and are difficult to remove and can cause infection. 😢 I miss popcorn but don't want scratched, irritated gums.
Hi girls…I wouldn’t look at as a problem…it’s tasty, nutritious and since I’ve cut out crisps for my beloved popcorn 🍿… I’ve lost weight and feel great! I now walk past the ‘junk food’ shelf at the SUPERMARKET… without a thought! p.s…melted butter drizzled over it and a sprinkling of curry powder to taste…and pink salt 🧂… try it and experiment with other spices! I LOVE POPCORN 🍿💋
Wow this great, will start eating soon. Dr Mandell you are wonderful, always coming up with good and greater for health. Thank you with BLESSINGS FOR ALWAYS.💐💐💐❤❤❤⭐️⭐️⭐️
Was recently gifted an air popper. My young grandkids really enjoy this treat when visiting my home. I make a full bowl before they arrive. Before they leave, another bowl goes for refills and then a few more bags for their teen siblings. We ran out of organic popcorn, then ended up with horrible tasting mega-corpotations brands of kernels that needed flavoring. We immediately went back to organic. Doesn't seem to need any flavorings added. Popcorn kernels and electric use are cost effective.
👍🏾😋thanks doc!❤ 🤷🏾♀️I sometimes will pop my own organic corn kernels, but ive been buying the bagged brand, "Lesser Evil"...great brand...non gmo, organic, popped in butter flavored coconut oil and pink Himalayan salt..so good! $2.98/bag at Walmart
Thanks Dr Mandell I was just eating popcorn and remembered something bout how popcorn is healthy for you and then this video comes around and reminds me of why.
Corn can be bad for some people with arthritis. It triggers arthritis pain for me - just like gluten does. Once I stopped both, I no longer have arthritis-like pain. I also take boron 3 my daily, as some arthritis-like pain is simply a boron deficiency. Boron stopped my arthritis redness & pain in my fingers & stopped the disfigurement of my fingers. Only 1 finger was & remains deformed, no other fingers became deformed after starting boron. "What foods are not good for arthritis?Diets high in fat -red meat -avoid full-fat dairy ,Omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, in excess, can worsen inflammation. Common sources of omega-6 fats are soybeans, corn, safflower, sunflower, canola oil, nuts & fatty meat, fried food & commercially canned food / sugar -Soda, fruit juices, sweet tea, and other sweetened drinks often contain a large amount of sugar. limit your total added sugar intake to 9 tsp per day. (For the sake of comparison, a 12-ounce can of soda has about 36 gm of sugar, or more than 8 tsp.). Also, ...refined grains, and salt have been associated with increased inflammation./ citrus fruits - oranges, lemons & grapefruit, nightshade family - potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, chillies & eggplant/ gluten - pasta, bread & some cereals.alcohol, like red wine -anti-inflammatory & contain antioxidants, no more than 5 oz of red wine. but can aggravate gout." With hot air popcorn, add melted coconut oil as an alternative to butter or margarine, and then sprinkle either a good himalayan sea salt on it, or a sea salt and herb blend mix called "Herbamare".
@@kewlman5417Its not the butter that blocks arteries, Its the oils used to pop the corn. The oils are full of ingredients that inflame our bodies, that's what's doing the damage bot butter
Dairy Moos I had a 90+ year old boss (he owned a metal machine business and made huge ovens and custom equipment for Northrop Grumman / Boeing Aerospace to use to make their parts). He would eat a full stick of butter a day while at work. He was sharp as a tack, fit like a young man and had the energy of a teenager. Great boss! I personally view good grass-fed organic butter as a health food. 😁
I make popcorn in a paperbag in the microwave, I add salt, butter, old bay seasoning, shred parm or grated dark chocolate depending on my mood, after the kernals are popped. Once a week on Saturday movie night. I use Trader Joe's organic popcorn kernels.
I have started to eat roasted peanuts(under 100 gr.) as my only snack for the day. I'm trying to minimize my sugar intake severely and untill now I haven't eaten sugar or smoken' cigarettes in almost a month now. One advise: Don't quit cigarettes and sugar on the same time, one at a time 😂 it will crack you up mentally.
Continued good luck, additional aids to quitting smoking That I learned from Cancer Society stop smoking class that were very helpful to me were: 1. put a small rubber band around ur wrist and snap it whenever u have a strong desire to smoke. 2, Look into the mirror perhaps while shaving or brushing teeth and stare straight into ur eyes and keep repeating, I don’t smoke, brain will recognize these words and believe them and ur desire will diminish greatly. Can use same technique for other things, like sugar. I stopped smoking 50 years ago. For 1 year I smoked 1 cigarette a day. Then I finally wasn’t near anyone that smoked for 3 days and I didn’t need that one cigarette anymore. I’m sending positive thoughts to you. 😊🙏😊
This is TRUE, he's speaking of the popcorn you cook on the stove top, not microwaved in the bag, that's unhealthy because the chemicals that's in it....The bag isn't even paper
I switched from crisps and nuts to popcorn a year or so ago. It's far better for you BUT never chew down so you completely mesh your teeth. Unpopped kernels are like ball bearings, I forgot myself one day and cracked a tooth, ended up needing a crown to remedy the damage.
Sunday night snack, popcorn made the old fashioned way on the stove popped in olive oil then drenched in butter, pink salt and nutritional yeast. Slices apples on the side.
If anyones interested, here's the stove top method, which I think is the healthier way to prepare it... You can heat a heavyweight stainless pot or pan on med heat and add a little bit of olive or coconut oil. Add one kernel and cover the pan with a tight fitting lid. Wait till it pops then remove it from the pan and add the rest of the popcorn (the kernels should be only in a single layer and you should be able to see about 50% of the bottom of the pan. If you put more it may overflow, burn on the bottom and not pop all the kernels.) Cover the pan and slide it back and forth to keep the corn moving so it won't burn. When the popping noises start to slow down remove it from the heat and let the residual heat pop the rest of the corn. Add toppings while it's still hot. Yum! 😊
I have Addison disease o crave alot of salt. I eat chips for my salt intake daily. Till I started eating popcorn it's alot healthier than chips I season popcorn how I want. I made pizza flavored popcorn. Don't know what I used.
It has helped me with heartburn... I'm not sure if others experienced that but I tried three separate times and it helped. This is for minor heartburn.
Add coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil, or any organic grass fed butter to it. The healthy fats will buffer the sugar molecules in popcorn where it will digest slowly in the blood stream and will not cause a spike in blood sugar.
God’s Blessings to you Dr 🙏for informing on how popcorn’s (the better ones) are good for us🎉 I discovered a lovely treat now and then to die for infused with cashews😋love them💖
There's a commercial I think it's on the internet telling you NOT to eat popcorn because it's really bad for you now that I've heard this it's probably really good for you and they don't want you to eat it so you'll die 🤷♀️🍿
Don't eat the stuff in the microwave bags or that jiffy pop stove top stuff for sure. The liners in the bags are toxic. But yeah, I've got to the point I do pretty much opposite of what fda and cdc says. Everything in moderation ofcourse except for popcorn 😉
I have not had popcorn in 10 or more years. I thought it was bad for us. Haven't enjoyed a chocolate bar either. I might just do one small batch if home made salty popcorn now I have seen this.
I Love what You are doing. ❤ and I have question, what I hearing around is the gmo corn 95% in the world ? Something about roundup sprayed on it. I'm scared to eat corn.
Popcorn and peanuts are two of the worst things you can eat. The hull of the popcorn and the pieces of peanuts scrape the intestinal walls and can cause cancerous cells to form.
Take your chances if you want to... but your "advice" is actually poor advice. Polyps forming in the colon have been directly linked to popcorn husks and peanut chunks.
