I would but the concrete tubes as yellow as they are fine for pole coverage and fine when angled but races in the past have show it to be sticky as apex props when upright. Just from personal experience anyway.
Yup that's one of the things I wish I could go back and change about this video. At the time, concrete pipes were more widely accepted when used vertically, but I agree now that they should only be used at an angle on apexes
I disagree with you. When you run into a wall, you made a driving error you should be penatalized - car gets stuck loses speed, breaks down and so on. When you bounce into a wall and keep going like nothing happened, thats pretty lame and scrubby because it rewards bad driving. The right way to use the red-prop's in my opinion would be to leave some safe space - recovery space between the actual road and the sticky props. You would have a gap between the road and a prop - so you get a chance to recover, slow down and get your car back on track without turning half the racetrack into an autoscroller where you hold W and bounce from wall to wall lol Same thing for yellow and green-props. I think this way racing in general is more fun because reckless drivers would be fairly punished. Anyways nice video I liked it!
While everything you've said here makes sense, it just doesn't work that way in competitive racing, sadly. There are many people who could explain it better than I can, but there's nothing worse than having a race ruined by 1 bad hitbox because you got pushed wide into a barrier by another driver. To your point about leaving space between the road and the prop: what if there isn't any room? For example, on most city streets you have a bunch of lamp posts lining the curb. And if the wall is far enough away, you might as well just not put a wall at all honestly. And while, yes, you could argue walls with good hitboxes reward bad driving, most drivers in the competitive racing community are close enough and good enough in skill to capitalize off 1 tiny mistake made by another driver, even if the mistake was aided by a wall smash. You've brought up some great points, and even though we may disagree, I'm glad you still enjoyed the video!
This video doesn’t, but I can help. Memory is mostly based on how many different props you use. You can use 300 of the exact same prop and you’ll use virtually no memory at all, but if you use 300 different props then you’ll most likely run out of memory. Certain props also use a lot more memory than others, so you can watch the little memory bar go up and down as you scroll through the prop list to see which ones use a lot of memory, and try to avoid those if possible. I hope that makes sense!
Some other info and random things: 1) There are some tracks linked in the description (for all platforms) that are propped very well in my opinion. You can go check them out and see the propping first-hand. 2) The things I cover in this video are just a very small part of what goes into making a great track. It takes a lot of time, so don't expect to magically create a track in an hour. 3) I don't consider myself an expert at GTA racing or anything, but I do feel as if I'm knowledgeable enough on the subject to be a trusted source when it comes to the Creator. 4) Obviously, if you're already a good track creator, then this video won't have much (or any) new information for you. This is mainly for beginners and people who are trying to get better at making tracks. 5) Please leave any tips or feedback that you may have here in the comment section. Anything and everything helps. I'll do my best to answer any questions as fast as I can. 6) Last but not least, as I mentioned in the video, this is only my perspective on things so keep that in mind. I'm not trying to say that this is the only way to do things, but it is one way you can do it. Thanks for watching everyone, I hope this helps!
I had never considered using the concrete tubes for light poles. I've been using the original tire stacks because they're visually distinctive but yeah... they're sticky. One of the things I would add is that 'bad' props are actually pretty useful for wide open turns when people go way to wide and they're re-entry could be dangerous. Sometimes stopping a sloppy driver can be a good result.
Even the tutorial was smooth hehe, great work, al though I already knew 99% of these, still a great tutorial for people that want to take the gta V creator seriously, and make better tracks. Edit: Stunt tracks with railings are really easy to fix, just put a building block over the gaps, and it becomes smooth.
If you know how to make good elevation in corners, then I'd love to see that, cuz that sh!t is hard, I've tried using stunt target platforms, and it works fairly decent, but it does not look good, Cheers in advanced
Great video showing the props and what to use. I think a video on creator tips and how to use them would be great, but also I video in the future showing the new props that are going to be realised eventually. Like what's good and bad to use.
but my question is, how do we place props so far into the ground? i see it in all the races broughy uses, but i cannot do it myself. could u do a guide pls?
I watched so many videos on realistic race tracks and wondered how tf they got things into the ground and what they used. You helped out ALOT. Great video, thank you!!!
hey man really great vid. i went into this vid thinking you'd only touch on what i knew but the points you made about hitboxes really made me have a wtf moment of why some of the props are just not worth it. Super appreciated. Thanks g!!
I've been creating tracks in the past one year and I picked up many things. I'm not saying that I they are perfect in fact I still use bad props from time-to-time but its good to see that these rules are visualized here. I pinned this video on the racing oriented section of my discord server 'coz I feel like this should be seen by many more people. Let me know if you ever feel like making an update of this video or if you already made one. :)
Walls in gta aint meant for you to slide off of them,if your making a realistic race your useing tire barriers,if you or anyone else clips them there shit at,breaking, driving and turning in general
@@SockmanYT I'm into recreating goldeneye maps into gtav.. Note the doors and the glass. That's what I want to make. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-doBw6l2I9PQ.html
@@WingmanLive There's a few moving signs in the "stunt signs" category that you might be able to make into some sort of door. And sadly there is no glass, but there are a few signs in the "dynamic" category that you might be able to shoot and destroy with a gun
@@SockmanYT yeah i tried using the moving signs but players thought they were a bit wierd lol. Regarding the brakable glass ill have to use barbwire fencing. As long as you can see through it and shoot through it then it will do. I have tried using dynamic breakables to hide hidden pathways but the noobs dont know they're destructable.. Theres a link here if you want to check out one of my legendary maps. Thanks for the help! socialclub.rockstargames.com/job/gtav/o4HgQUkKQE-taTt0-cyUOA
@@SockmanYT I'm useless creating changes of grade like the Eau Rouge / Raidillon of Spa Francorchamps GP in aerobatic races. Could you make a tutorial?
I'll like to know where are the metal barriers, i haven't seen on PC but they look good; as from a propper race track. I don't care if they've bad hit boxes or not (1st i should find 'em to use 'em and screw up my races) to begin with... you shouldn't kiss the metal barriers if you drive as you should, but you're not alone in the track; may be because i've the spanish (from Spain) version of the game and the translation is not good, so find the things is... isn't easy some times. I've also seen that there's an objects eraser, another thing that i haven't seen on the creator; but for the videos that i've seen... i could take very good advantage of such thing, i'll like to delete a lot of palm trees, telephone poles and many more things on my races, i wouldn't delete the street lamps because they're useful on night races, that some people like.
The metal barriers are attached to some of the stunt track pieces. You just sink the prop into the ground far enough so the track itself isn't showing. And the "Fixture Removal" tool is down towards the bottom of the Placement menu. There's a lot of things that it doesn't allow you to remove though, just as a heads up. You can mostly only remove light poles and metal street signs.
@@SockmanYT Many thanks man, i've updated some of my own races now with those metal barriers and now look better; i wish RS had added those metal barriers as independent props instead. Very useful tutorial, and thanks again for the help.
@@charles_wipman No problem, thank you too! If you ever want some tips and advice on any tracks feel free to join this Discord server: discord.gg/eP6chf You can post a video of your tracks and people will give you in depth feedback on everything.
Well, I usually just put the blimp signs in the sky and on a new track I've been making theres this jump where you go through the Tire Hoop Are these acceptable uses of these items I now realize this is for using them as walls
@@yourlocalcashregister1123 technically yes, but I'm speaking more in terms of a stunt race having jumps and loops and stuff versus a proper street circuit made for clean and competitive racing. Both classified as a "stunt" race but still very different things
Bruh you forgot to mention how useful the curved tracks are, they are great for use in tracks with a lot of elevation change, they were especially useful for me in a very hilly open wheel race that I made. If I didn't use them then the car would go flying as soon as you go up a ramp, especially when missing a front spoiler. Also the Med striped barriers are also very good for marking apexes cause they are no clip and you can even chain them if you are precise and leave no gaps, especially tasteful when combined with traffic cones on the sides of the barrier to see them easier but not obstruct you. And there are some potholes in the game that will bottom out the F1 cars and make them go spinning, the hazard stunt block looks very nice for patching them.
