I can see the difference between someone who just studying (and doesn't have time to read some book or self care) and someone who mature academically and mentally . Proud of u Ruby 😊
So many people are like "I don't have the time or the luxury to read" ..Listen all you have to do is take out 20 mins of your social media time to Read .
@@Kerm88 Actually, it‘s more like a month. If I take the audiobook of „Red White and Royal Blue“ as an example (which is quite long at around 400 pages), 20 minutes a day will get me to finish the 12 hours of audiobook in 36 days.
30 mins a day will get u 20-30 pages a day depending on how fast you read, so in a week you will go thru 20x7= 140pages, in a month you will read aprox 20x30=600 pages so you will finish a thicccccc book in a month or 2 smaller ones. So in a year you would finish 600x12=7200pages. An average book is 400 pages so assuming you'll only be reading 400 page books, in a year you would burn thru 18 books. In 10 years you got 180 books
Depression really fucks me up. I would try to read a few chapters then I don't have any motivation for a few days. It's so difficult. Yes, reading is very important, but ugh
This is also my problem. Love to read but working 8-9 hours a day does not leave much room at all to get the important things done, let alone downtime to relax and read if you so choose. Maybe 2 books in 30 days for those of us who have to work too much? That’s a goal I can get behind actually.
Totally agree. 2 books a month is the most i can manage. The only time i fo get to read is my commute to office, and i read for that 1 hour without fail everyfay.
I do 8-10, you can wake up earlier to meal prep and schedule 1-3 hours of reading before bed. Usually can manage 100 pages an hour on average 50 pages an hour is normal. It boils down to commitment and enjoyment, creating obstacles and saying I can't be bothered or making excuses isn't going to help. No disrespect just being blunt.
Wish I still had the time to read this much. I used to spend summers as a kid reading all day. Now at 24, I am currently working a full-time job and it's definitely harder now that I have to worry about making dinner, working out, doing chores, etc. I need a vacation lol!
We are everybody's friend Of course I still read! I’m talking about the days when I could read a whole book in a day & I didn’t have any other responsibilities. I meant this as I miss those care-free days of childhood.
I use audiobooks a lot too! I can read the book faster myself but with an audiobook I can get all my chores and stuff done while listening which is great!
I love this challenge and it is very inspirational! One question: Does the fact that you read so many books in such a short time diminish the reading experience, because there is not much time to reflect the book and let the mind wander? Just curious :)
i dont think so beacause i can complete reading a book alamost in two days as i am having schools and whenevr i read it i feel that i am inside the book.. really great for people who are lonely
yes, she is obsessed with numbers and doesnt care about the process. reading 10000 books like this is useless. wasted time. she has a video with a readathon, she read 8 books in a day, its stupid and worthless.
I work full time so there's no way I could do this challenge but I think I'll try 7 books in 14 days. I love reading but do have a tendency to get distracted by other things
I honestly don’t know how anyone can read that much😳 it takes me three weeks to finish only 1 book😅 anyways, this is super inspiring, as always, Ruby☺️✨♥️
No but book slumps are the absolute worst. I went through one in December and I didn’t read the whole month. Hopefully you find your inspiration as I did to continue reading. It just takes something fresh and new to get back to reading and that can take weeks or just a couple of days, good luck!
YES! I tried re-reading a book that got me really into books in general and I just have no motivation :( I hope I find it soon because I have so many books/series I want to read.
its so amazing that you have all these books. when i want to read, i usually just search for it online and read on my ipad (i dont have a kindle) and its just different from reading an actual book :( but the best i can do
I saw the thumbnail and was immediately excited to hear what you thought of ‘Salt to the Sea’ Personally I don’t normally read historical fiction but I really enjoyed this particular book. I thought that it was really clever to see all the different characters perspectives on the events of the time ❤️
I haven't ever felt the need to comment on RU-vid videos a lot, But Ruby, it warms my heart to see the sheer authenticity with which you go about your life. The kind of positivity that watching your videos evokes in me is truly amazing. I find myself to your channel everytime I want to feel inspired, motivated or just need a sense of hope. Your cheerful voice is just a cherry on top. Keep going! :D
I read A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder thanks to your recommendation and I gave it 5/5 stars! I thought it was so well written and clever, I was shocked to see it was her debut book!
SALT TO THE SEA IS SO AMAZING. It is written by an author from my homeland. You pronounced her surname a little bit funny :D. I hope it helped you to understand the pain of the war. If you liked Salt to the sea give a chance to book called Between Shades Of Gray. It was written by Rūta Šepetys as well and is really amazing. It tells a story about the genocide of the Lithuanian people. I recommend it from the bottom of my heart. Best regards
Dear Ruby, when I was younger I loved reading. I just sat down for hours and read. Today I often think that there is not enough time to read. However I know that if I'm honest it's a question of priorities. Thank you so much that you remind me of that. Joanna
Ruby you should totally make a list of all the background music you used every time. You have a great taste of in music, I absolutely love every one of them ❤️❤️
I'm hearing some of the book names and I'm like ahhhh I remember when she added it on goodreads as read - now it makes sense why the updates were so regular 😂
Ruby, you have inspired me so much. I feel you are the one who has perfectly productive days. The only problem I face while being productive and practicing self-care is that I do not know hat I should do next. For a person like me, I do not like making schedules for organization but all my friends recommend me to do so. SO, now I've finally decided that WILL make a schedule but I just do not know how to get started with it. If ya have any tips then please lemme know: )
Ruby- you should do a video analyzing all of the Man Booker awarded books you’ve read to see if you can guess the guidelines, then do an on-camera comparison of your guess to the actual!
Wow it's already been 5 years since you published this video. Without this video I likely never would have read History of the Rain by Niall Willaims - a book I've now read through cover to cover twice and regularly pick up to reread passages. Thank you for introducing me to one of my all time favourite books!
If you enjoyed the premise of History of The Rain, you might enjoy Fun Home by Alison Bechdel. It’s a graphic novel & a memoir about Bechdel’s relationship with her father, who committed suicide when she was in college. She is basically decoding her relationship with him, and much of her relationship with him was based on literature. She uses examples from Colette, The Odyssey, Ulysses, and various other works to make some sense of her father’s life, death, and treatment of her.
I love reading - but a book a day? I'm doing well if I finish a book in two weeks! Mind, I always have more than one book on the go at a time. So, it's hard to tell what my rate is. But I can promise that it's not a book a day! Anyway, love your videos, and if you can read and absorb a book a day, more power to you! 🙂
I need about 9 hours to read a book with about 700 pages and one week or maybe two for a book with over 1000 pages.....I LOVE reading xD Have you done it then?
OMG u motivates me🙉 14 books in 14 days?!!! i took 3 months to read 1 book!! now im srsly gonna start engaging more. might be doing monthly book challenge to start. thank u♡ im reading the book Bloodsworth btw
Hey Ruby! I got my first year uni exam results through, and I passed my year with MERIT! Thank you so much for being an inspiration and keeping me motivated during the times I needed it most
Thanks for sharing Ruby. I first heard about The Good Girl's Guide from a book blogger. I'll definitely try out the books - your recommendations never disappoint.
Ruby, you're my fave person on RU-vid, you have an amazing personality and vibe, you always put me in a good mood, thank you for that! :) Hugs from Malta
This is one of the most beautiful and inspiring videos of yours, in my opinion! I’m such a mood reader, so I pick up and put down books when I don’t feel like reading them (usually I have three or four on the go), so this really inspired me to push through and read books more quickly. :) Plus your home and this aesthetic is so gorgeous!!
I read a book daily for a week(every book was over 500 pages) in three different languages . At the end, I spent my whole free time with books and I felt empty after every book. It was totally like a emotional roller coaster . So I was really done with myself after a week......but it was a nice experience. I am obsessed with books. I HAVE TO BUY A BOOK WHEN I SEE A BOOK SHOP.
I absolutely love this. I’m going on vacation (to London actually!) in a week, and that’s just not doable for me while I’m in Europe but when I get back I’m definitely going to do this! Thank you Ruby!
Good Morning Ruby!😄 I'm early before 1k😂!. I do finish reading in 2/3 weeks. This is incredible! Read a book in one day. Enjoy your reading for 14 days challenge!🤓 Have a productive week!
This vlog is goals! The only time I’ve been able to read a whole book in a single day was for booktubeathon, feeling really motivated; also the editing is on fire!!!!!
This felt so cosy. I loved this challenge! Watching this on day 14, not quite going to finish my 10th book but I got a definite 9 in ☺️ I’ve been vlogging it and hopefully edit it tomorrow to get up on Saturday 📚
I totally failed on this Tag, because I read "The Nightcircus" by Erin Morgenstern and it totally pushed me into a Reading Slump. So I was struggeling to get out of it and am currently at my normal reading speed again.
Ruby, what did you think of Breakfast at Tiffany’s? You didn’t say anything and I’m very curious! When I was 12 I watched the movie and fell in love with it but I never read the book When I watch the movie first, I either love the book or I feel completely disappointed, but I’m really hoping that you loved the book (which would be an indication that I’ll love it as well, when I get a chance to read it)
Julia Calvet I LOVED it and actually gave it 5 stars! There is this strange, melancholy beauty to the prose which is distant yet close both at the same time (it reminded me of Nick’s narration in Gatsby). And the metaphors are beautiful 💗
I so want to start reading again. The only thing that stops me is the fear of judgment by others. Sometimes I wanna read young adult novels or books that are criticized, trashed, cringed at online. Idk but spending too much time on Tumblr and its proclivity to turn everything problematic has sucked the fun out of reading for me. Reddit too.... This sounds so stupid lol. I kinda did this to my own self but at this point, any time I think of reading a book, I think of how people online might judge and cringe at it :(
I'm 25, I've never was the girl who reads a lot, I was only reading school books... but when I turned 22 i start being interested in books, especially when I know that most of thr movies are made form book stories ( I love watching movies ) .... That's why I get into books a lot, and I really enjoyed it 😍🌹 Ps: I'm Moroccan, so don't mind my english mistakes ✌❤
If you like Ruta Sepetys then I would definitely recommend her book called Shades of Grey. It’s such a good book! It is based in the 1950’s and it’s about a girl who was taken captive by the Soviet Union and her journey around and has some romance sprinkles! It is based off of the true stories of what was happening to families in countries being taken over by the Soviet Union at the time. It is beautifully written! By the way, I love this challenge and your content!
