What REALLY Happened at the NCAA Wrestling Championships 

Tough vid for me to make, I appreciate all you guys and hope this helps some of you where you're at in your wrestling career. We got one more year to make it happen let's burn the boats!

We're still proud of you man no matter the result

Long time watcher, first time commenting. I wrestled since I was 8 started, completed until I was 27, started coaching at 21, then the knees, back and neck blew out so I coached until I was 55. Two words. Match management. Sometimes you need to burn the clock toward the end of the third with a couple point lead. Get a couple stall calls. Don’t push yourself in a potentially vulnerable situation. All of our world champions Taylor, Dake, Jordan, all manage that clock You have the skills, you were winning for the majority of the matches. It’s the fine turning. The head prep and game plan in situational planning that is the most difficult thing to master. But once you’re there it becomes second nature. Doing the physical work is the easy part, you got that, you can train up in any area you need to strengthen. Mental warfare is the difference when you reach that level. If you won both those matches, which you could have, how far could you have gone? Right to podium. At that level it’s the person who make the least amount of mistakes. You got this. It’s in you. There’s no doubt. Many coaches don’t coach mental tactics. Keep working on your skills but this is a thinking man’s game. I have no doubt you have the physical and mental skills To be champion. You’re a real inspiration for a lot of us. I never got my shot at even competing at state. My senior year I was ranked 5th going into regionals and I blew my knee out the night before regionals. Watching your videos brings back so many emotions from my competing days and I can’t tell you what that has done for me. Additionally watching you coming up short on your goals, but still picking yourself up and still working you a$$ off is something everyone can learn from. I’ve been here since your junior year of high school and I’ll be here until the end brother. Thank you for all of your content.

This one was tough to watch reminded me of my senior year of high school. Anytime you lose its hard but it's even harder when you knew you could have been on the podium. Things to work on: Take this serious 1. More mastery with your specific neutral take downs 2. single leg defense - you don't whizzer immediately and sprawl with shoe laces to the mat 3. single leg offense - once you're in on the single you shouldn't lift your opponent, you should circle, post, and shelf

I feel it my freshman year, I fell short at my district tounament at took 6th place (needed 4th to get out). I worked my butt off too qualify for states this year. Now I set new goals for my junior year of high school, I want to win a state tile this year like you did. My point is keep going when you miss that goal, bounce back and do great things next year. I have this feeling also after I lost the in the blood round at state I looked back and I had to realize that it’s time to get better. I had a talk with my coach and he told me that it’s time to work harder everyday during the cold during the hot during. So Cayden keep you head up you’ll get better

I wrestled at Adams State when they were ranked 5th in the Nation couldn't even make the lineup, they are always a tough team. You wrestled great matches and improved a ton. Great wrestling to watch. You bring the best wrestling content and give wrestling a great name.

Im 14 and my record was 1-6 had to wrestle all boys and im a girl. Also i wrestling on mod and this was my first year. And when i found you on youtube you motivated me to win that one match that i won. You are such a strong wrestler. Never give up because life with bring you something fantastic someday!

My 14-year wrestling career ended about a year ago and the improvement I saw in you this year from last year was INSANE. Not very often do you see someone take a huge leap like you did. Do it again. You got it. It looks like you slipped as soon as you hit the duck under, shiz just happens sometimes, funny enough happened to me at nationals as well. I just switched shoes lol. But honestly you were better than all those kids. Work so hard until next March that there won't even be a doubt when you win it. All bonus point wins next year, let's go!!

Next year it is you. You wrestled fantastic this year and your freshman year videos are not the same wrestler. Your matches have improved to a level where I'm here to watch you wrestle. I remember when you where first posting videos in college and Crosbie said you should add more jokes to your content. I was watching because of that wrestling room fun and your growth in the sport. At this point your at a level where I have to watch stuff back on half speed(even when you leave slo-mo in). Anyways very long winded but you have done this before. I had a similar experience at my state tournament, fault for second seed, and I went 0-2, I know I am way better than last year, I got third in state last year, and I dropped down a weight class and went undefeated at the new weight class just to go 0-2 at state. Cayden you inspire me I can’t wait for the come back. Support never changed❤

I had the same thing happen to me this past year lost in the bloods of state( defensive pinned myself). then i just put my head down and worked won a state title this year . its all about the extra and self talk and especially writing down your goal every single day

You’re good my 🥷!!! I went to state my senior year. Tech’d the first guy got wrekt my second match, after that my heart was crushed and I fell apart my final match and lost. I know that pain, but you got one more year and the journey continues until it’s over

It is an unforgiving sport. My boys have lost State Championships due to injuries. Both went onto College to wrestle and every year it been surgery or coming back from surgery. Tough sport, you did great and the wrestling community supports you. Guys last year from North Central enjoyed meeting you at one of the tournaments.

Congratulations on a great season brother 🤘🏽 You have some work to do over the offseason , but you’re not far from the top! I still can replay my last tournament match by match almost 12 years later. As a coach now, the best advice I can give you for next season is to always wrestle to win because once you get ahead in a match and wrestle to not lose you just changed your entire gameplan that’s gotten you as far as you have gone.
