Well it’s easy to see whose fault it was since the GM crew have launched GOOD GOOD flawlessly. Who cares if Brodie has 2.2 million subs? His videos were getting less views at the time.
It's interesting watching this video now after seeing Brodie transition to Disc Golf, and Good Good launching and growing so much. It seems like the Good Good boys knew they had something but didn't know how to properly execute it, while Brodie had a set road map of how he felt things should progress. I found myself siding with Brodie originally, but seeing Good Good blow up, while at the same time being able to follow the guys on their individual stuff (like Steve's golf course he is building) has been enjoyable. Looking back I think you nailed it on the head, it was just the wrong timing. I hope everyone involved in this situation continues to be successful in the future.
Garrett/Micah/Matt/Steve/Bubbie and the new guy > than Brodie. Just from an entertainment and appeal perspective they are light years ahead of Brodie...even if Brodie has subscribers. When it’s all done Good Good and GM__golf wins
Good Good said on their podcast that the chemistry just wasn’t right. Brodie was in his 30s and all the GM guys were 20 at the time. The fit was always awkward and came off weird in the Brofive videos. Like a college guy showing up to a high school party. Brodie definitely being an overbearing personality and basically rushing the process and bringing in lawyers and contracts would have turned me off as well. The entire thing felt very transactional and was always going to fail.
Seems like it's worked out fairly well for both sides at this point. Brodie moved on into the disc golf world and seems to be enjoying that new challenge. The GM guys have basically created a new version of BroFive with their Good Good channel, but in the form that they wanted originally with all of them all maintaining their own separate channels. They're all doing well too, with Garrett's channel at over 300k subs now and both Matt and Stephen having over 100k. They all have their own merch and seem to work together and help each other out with cross promotion. I don't think you can really blame either side, they just weren't on the same page with how they wanted to run stuff and it wasn't a good fit. Brodie had more experience in the social media world and seemed pretty set in his ways on how he wanted things to be run. I can't blame him for that, as obviously it's worked well for him and he's had a ton of success with it. But I also don't blame the GM guys for wanting to do things their own way, which they've clearly also had a fair bit of success with in the past year and don't seem to have the personal issues that they had with Brodie. It's possible BroFive could've blown up even bigger, but if none of them were going to be happy in that situation, then there would be no point anyway.
Immature boys not ready to be men. Getting parents on the phone, ghosting, lying and intentionally not promoting the BroFive.... that’s just annoying passive aggressive unprofessionalism. If I was Brodie I’d be pissed too. Don’t say you’re gonna do something, have multiple talks about it, agree and then not do it, be a bog baby about it, lie and run from your problems.
I’m super late to this but the sidemen do have there own individual clothing like illvzn and zrk I think they did when this video was made but not sure
lol any grown man 18+ getting their parents to fight their battles needs to self reflect a bit. Famous last words, "It's not about the money." it's always about money.
You must have not watched the actual video. They have to post those last course vlogs because they were essentially paid to go there and play the course so they are holding up their end of the deal by giving them the free publicity on the course
I know I'm late to the party, but I'm just coming across this. I think your analysis of Brodie is incorrect. I don't have a problem with your analysis of his (self-admittedly) overbearing nature, but to characterize Brodie as having a safe place to fall is off. Social media followings are tenuous and fickle. The idea that Brodie had the least to lose is exactly 100%. He had the most to lose. Moreover, I've looked and I haven't see GM's response. I love both channel's content and I support them both. I'm just not sure that Brodie is the clear bad guy here. Chalk it up to a mis-match of experience. I bet if Garrett was to respond today, I would like to think he would agree.
I think I agree with you... experience seems to be a huge part. Garret did respond but not sure if he took down or private his video? Let’s just say Brodie did a much better job responding than Garrett...
@@aaron_b. Garrett is a RAT, he is all about the youtube money and he would step on anyone for a little fame and fortune. I think the word for that is DOUCHE.
Right after they split Garrets buddy who used to do Videos with him came back.It looks in my opinion his old buddy saw him making money, wanted back in.Then on top of a buddy wanting back in,his parents got on his ear and said you need more money and a bigger split. Its sad because they could have been doing amazing by now, making a ton and having awesome videos.
@@genekerr8762 no they won’t. Their followers will mature in time and the silliness that they do will get dull. Also as they get into serious relationships their priorities will change as well. I would be shocked if they ever get more than 500k subscribers. Also, they never should have gone into business with Brodie anyway. I think Brody was using them because his fan base is getting older and he needed younger viewers, like the one GM golf has.
Currently 520K subs, and blowing up in the golf community. I know guys in their 60"s that love watching these guys. I literally know nothing about Brodie, but after watching everyone's videos. As a group, the videos he's in had the worst chemistry. Felt to forced I guess.
His parents were rightfully concerned about a guy in his 30s basically seeing a blowing up channel of guys just out of high school and bringing in lawyers and contracts immediately in an attempt to piggyback off what GM was doing. I wouldn’t have let my son go into business with Brodie. The chemistry wasn’t there, and while I’m sure Brodies a decent dude a lot of what he was doing seemed rushed, overbearing, and selfish (even if he didn’t recognize it).
I think you completely missed the point of Brodie’s video/explanation. He did not boil it down to him working too hard. He essentially said, I was more invested than them, that’s why it did not end up working. Not “i was too invested that’s why it didn’t work”
Maybe I didn’t fully get my point across, I meant that he boiled his own faults down to being to invested/ intense not that he boiled down the reason for the split to that, I go on to say that the reason was the difference in commitment and why that difference may exist eg the difference in viewer base the recentness of gm golfs success etc
What he really said is the other guys needs security so they kept uploading and growing thier channels brodie doesn't so iets easy to say I'm more invested. Basically if all of them was big stars this would have worked
did you watch GM__Golf's video? Someone was lying because Brodie said he didn't know if GM was out of brofive or not, but Garrett said that he told Brodie over the phone that he was out of the group. Also, Matt wrote on a community post that he didn't want to make a video and turn things into a "he said he said" thing. I think Garrett just really just did not want to work with Brodie. Garrett knew how big the opportunity was and how much money he could be making; he said that he told Matt and Stephen that they could stay in Brofive for that reason. Garrett just didn't like working with Brodie for whatever reason.
@@justyouraveragewhitedude9748 I agree that Brodie shouldn't have done that. Also, they all should've been more upfront with the fans. They just made videos in reaction to hate comments. No one said anything about why Brofive ended until everyone kept bashing Brodie. All members of Brofive could've and should've told the fans that it was over much earlier and this drama wouldn't have happened (or at least not to the level that it did).
I don’t know to be honest It seems Garrett has gone with some other guys and the other two have found another guy but I doubt the drama will come out cause it’s probably money related
A lot of drama for a short lived channel that didn’t have much chemistry to begin with. They should have just kept Bro5 as a nice little side gig... If it blew up... great. If not no harm... no foul. Why should Garret throw his channel and merch down the drain??? Or Brody for that matter? Everyone should have just been chill.
Brodie wanted to be like dude perfect, a group of people with different personalities. Gm wanted it to be Gm golf and Brodie. It would be a group within a group. That doesn’t really work.
Ive heard the story from both sides and the GM crew really messed up. They were too simple minded and couldnt see the big picture. They needed Brodie way more than Brodie needed them.
I think they do have security because they all still live with mommy and daddy right? Idk either way it's a bummer and I still think it's all Garrett's fault. They blew a huge opportunity imo.
I understand your point however speculation and conversation is part of youtube, as for the no reason it has brought many new people to my channel and allowed new people to see my content whether they enjoy it or not I am happy just to see people engaging with my content positively or negatively
In the end this boiled down to the gm golf boys being unbelievably ignorant and shortsighted. They had an opportunity to essentially ride Brodie’s coat tails to fame behind his massive following. In the end, they only hurt their own brand by appearing childish by the way they handled this situation and not following through with something that could have been very successful.
To an extent, however perhaps they didnt want to ride brodies coat tails. For example if I had the kind of success view and merchandising wise that the gm golf boys did I dont know if id be willing to give up my individuality to be a part of something that granted would make me more financially successful but at the cost of autonomy if that makes sense.
Noah Karp I just feel like GM crew underestimated the grinding that Brodie does in order to do videos. GM is super laid back while Brodie does blogs, course reviews, challenges, and so on. I still watch both
Good good has already ran off two original members as it is. It seems pretty clear where the issue lies. Now they have guys with very small channels hopping on. I guarantee Kyle Berkshire will be done with them sooner than later.
Brodie's video definitely did not need to be that long. He spent time rambling for over an hour and there wasn't much substance to most of it. He tried to stay objective but ended up throwing a lot of shade on the other guys. Then Garrett, Matt, and Stephen took a lot of heat from it all. Everyone was against Brodie and then he flipped it around to most people being on his side (at least whoever was commenting on the videos). He could've kept the video to 5-10 minutes and just said that there was a difference in viewpoints on the direction of the channel and that sometimes people don't all get along.
Garrett dodged a bullet with Brodie. Brodie is a egomaniac and a quitter. He will soon be a failure at disc golf too. Get rid of Matt and gm_golf is Golden...
Brodie Smith is a hard working man who deserves every bit of fame he gets. He works extremely hard at everything he does. His social media skills earned him more opportunities and brand deals than GM golf can ever dream of. He deserves no heat. He carried his weight and only tried to help bro five.
@@jacksonrussel2536 Brodie Smith is a jackass. He has acted like a child challenging me to personal 1 on 1 when I'm a senior citizen. His ego is extremely fragile and he will fail at disc golf just like he failed at real golf.
@@jacksonrussel2536 GM_GOLF has an anchor around it's neck called Matt. I think friendship will kill that channel. It will only be a modestly successful channel as long as Matt is part of the on screen team.
Gene Kerr Phew, you sound sad. Hope you cheer up! Don’t let your sadness drive you to defame other people’s character with lies. As a senior citizen, I hope you also find your wisdom from your old age soon!
