I don't get programming like this. What's the use having the background repeated infinitely everywhere? Sprites in some games do a similar thing too if you manage to make them go off camera. For instance in some Zelda games if you make Link go off camera there's a duplicate of him that approaches from the opposite side, and this effect repeats over and over if you keep going. Same with other games. I've never understood why these things occur.
