From what I am understanding via the pundits and former playrs/coaches, Hafley specializes in the ability to adapt, the ability to use your players to their strengths, and a scheme that constantly keeps pressure on opposing QBs. Basically everything that Joe Barry didn't do.
Jeff Halfley was part of a really good defense at Ohio State in 2019 and he has NFL experience. The biggest thing I like is that Matt Lafluer seemed to have the same idea as the fans did, which is getting someone who plays press coverage a lot and gets the most out of our DB room. It will be nice to see an aggressive style of play for our defense. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛
Everywhere he’s been, the pass defense drastically improves. Pros and college. He aggressive and likes to play press man and coach his guys up. I’m excited to see what he can do. Hopefully he helps the run defense as well.
I have a feeling this dude is a sleeper pick and can easily carry the team and make this defense a top 5 easily. I hope the guy does well for us cause I’m sick and tired of hearing about the chiefs and niners every year.
His longest tenure as a DB coach was from 2016 to 2018 with the 49ers. His longest coaching job, within the college football world, was from 2020 to 2023 with Boston College, as their head coach. In 2020 they were 6-5, in 2021 they were 6-6, in 2022 they were 3-9, and in 2023 they were 7-6. This was all about the money. It wasn’t a skill hire at all. They got him for less than the market value of other defensive coaches out there. Jordan Love did very well in getting us to the playoffs, but that was him, and his fellow players. It doesn’t make Gutekunst or Murphy any better at their jobs!
@@bradleymatott9007 Yes, yes he did. He also evaluated and selected Devin Funchess, Jace Sternberger, Kamal Martin, Amari Rodgers, and Josh Jackson. Without Gutekunst, we wouldn't have wasted those draft picks!
@@rthilson Obviously not ALL of the bad ones, just the biggest name busts. But he can prove that he leans more toward good than bad with the right additions, and a Super Bowl win or two. With Rodger gone, the pressure's on. The Pack was just above 500 this year. Jordan had a great second half of the season, and fans are going to expect that of him every year now, just as they expected it of Rodgers. Gutekunst needs him to keep it going, to keep OPINIONS like yours on the positive side. And if he can bring a Lombardi back to Green Bay, you might have some actual physical proof to corroborate your opinion. In the meantime, it's just fan bias.
Terrible hire. Once again MLF hires someone who was getting zero interest from anyone else. He had a losing record at Boston College, barely a D1 program. Holy Cross hung 28 points on his team. Just awful.
