This month I picked up the Barclays Wyndham Earner Plus 100k, Moving me from 1/24 to 2/24. It was a big Deal to pick a card that would take a slot and really appreciate your take/view. Being I was schedule to be 0/24 this November wanted to get card before I fall to 0/24 To help stagger the dates etc. you had a video in the past on that subject too that was great.
I think i will try and grab up the hyatt personal and a chase ink cash next year when under 5/24. Think I will limit my loyalty to Marriot and Hyatt for now; so I don't have to worry about 5/24 in 2025. Will try my luck at BoFa and atleast 1 US bank card.
Great video RJ I was just wondering this myself. 🤔 Im currently 8/24 & have been gardening since January. Its tough because i will need at least 1 more no FTF card for a europe trip this year, but on the fence. Im trying to stick with business cards
@@RJFinancial - thank you sir! I think you are right. I just got a pre-approval in my AmEx account for the business platinum! 150k MRs on $15k spend + 5k more MRs if my employee/AU spends $1k in 3 months. I think im gona go for it!
The value of a 5/24 slot depreciates the longer you invest in maximizing credit cards. It matters a lot in the beginning, but eventually you need to move on. Chase has done a fantastic job of manufacturing scarcity in their products and making their cards a priority through the 5/24 rule.
Currently gardening to be below 5/24 with that doing some business cards with the triple cash then signify. Should be below in November. By then should potentially get some upgrade offers for Hilton cards. Plan would be to grab an Ink Preferred and then a Venture X when below 5/24
Currently at 5/24 won’t be under until July. I will be 3/24 by November. I promised myself I would not apply for any cards this year because I wanted my credit age to season a bit and inquiries to fall off. It’s not easy, but worth the wait. Got my eyes on Ink Cash and CSP to complete my Chase ‘ trifecta next year since I have some big expenses for 2025.
To me for a personal card I need for it to be a 4x or 5x category with a sign-up bonus would be nice but I have so many cards and do plenty of bank bonuses throughout the year $200-$300 for a personal card with bad earning categories isn't worth it when I can get a business one with $500-$750 cash bonuses with a little manufactured spending to hit the minimum spend requirement.
I'm at 4/24 right now. The only Chase personal card I'm thinking about is the Amazon card(even though I rarely make Amazon purchases). I just got the Chase Sapphire Preferred with the $850 intro bonus this month. Cards that I want in the future are the US Bank Cash+, the Chase Business Preferred for the rumored big intro bonus, and I KINDA want the Citi Rewards+ but that one is very low priority.
My favorite credit card map I’ve seen someone show me is to completely avoid Chase altogether. Ironically, this gave them more “Freedom” in choosing their credit cards. I’d love to see how you’d recommend a beginner approach their card strategy without Chase.
Interesting idea. I guess we'd need to start with a goal. Some issuers we know are sensitive, so it's probably capital one first. After that, not sure the order matters a ton unless you're going to get super aggressive with it.
@@RJFinancial I think the video I saw recommended a starter card, but then jumping straight into the Amex Gold to cover dining and groceries. I don’t remember what comes after that, but it makes sense to me.
Bruh. Chase has the most and likely best selection of cobranded cards. And their own biz cards are super legit. Avoid Chase? 😂. Y even be in this game??
Maybe a pre-approval marketing thing. They don't mean much really, it basically says we're likely to approve you but still have to do the credit pull and all that jazz. I'd wait as there's a rumor of a 120k ink offer coming next week.
6/24. Burned a slot citi and cs plat. Had an emergency and need to cash out mr points. Amex NLL offers are always out there so no need to worry too much about points. Might go for that 5 percent back cash setup tbh.
If I want a card I don’t lose sleep over a Chase slot I’ve been laughing my ass off every new card I get approved for all while Chase kicks the 5/24 can down the road. I’ve actually surprised myself and haven’t looked back since, Chase cards are nice but imo they’re the Ford or Chevrolet of credit cards everyone has them.
I agree. Once you've hit the core cards 5/24 is meh. There's only a few that are actual keepers, some can be more useful than others. I really don't use my Freedom's much these days
No, I got my 3rd mortgage in February with no issues or mention of chex. In all my years being on the mortgage desk, I don't recall an underwriting system that ever pulled chex. Not to say they couldn't but it's largely based on what the investors require (Freddie/Fannie)
I nuked my 5/24 this year. I thought I was just gonna add a Blue Cash Everyday, but I also got a Fidelity Visa, Freedom Unlimited & Strata Premier. OOPS!!! 😬😬😬
@@RJFinancialcmon bruh. It is Thru Discipline we get what we want. Not hyperactivity or overindulgence. Btw did u or Luke come up with “worth overdoing”? He used it in one his latest vids.
