To explore the unknown regions is like being a 1500's captain exploring the seas west of Europe. To explore the deep core is like trying to explore Area 51 in search of black projects. Both have lots of spooky stuff, but different flavors of it.

@@18Krieger Cam Kennedy (the Dark Empire artist) worked for British SF comic 2000AD for decades, his work on the 'Rogue Trooper' series was excellent (his best IMO), he worked on a lot of 'Judge Dredd' stories as well. He's one of several 2000AD artists who've done work in the GFFA. Ian Gibson did some Boba Fett, as did the late, great Carlos Ezquerra (another legendary Judge Dredd artist).

#AskEck When it comes to the Sith empire of the time of kotor-Swtor, why is it that the technology of that era seems so advanced yet with what we get in the mainline movies the technology just doesn’t feel as advanced? I just find the differences between the old republic and the galactic republic/galactic empire eras so interesting and question why tech back then wouldn’t be as used in the newer eras as they just seem so useful and important.
beause the war was so devastating the technology base dropped because data centers and stuff got wiped out. like the burning of the library of alexandria, but on a galactic scale. same thing happened with knowledge of the force and powers with the jedi and sith, thought this was because of the raw casualties inflicted. that or its because the kotor came out later than the original stuff and they wanted to make their gamefucking awesome
Necessity is the Mother of Invention. The wars back then were massive and far reaching and constant so technology was moving at a far faster pace by all factions.
It was mainly due to the Ruusan Reformation where before there was thousands of years of advancing military technology, the thousand years before the Clone Wars was pretty much a step back . However, much of the non-military technology and personal devices and scientific achievements would continue to flourish. Like back during the Sith Wars, there would be no way thousands of ships the size of a ISD could operate.

Presumably this is with unlimited resources. I mean, the Xyston exists. I hate it, but it exists. You could pack a fleet with Xystons, Pellaeons, MC-90s for carrying, Interdictor ships, Bellators for moving massive amounts of firepower quickly, support frigates, and then the Eclipse as your flagship.

Future Abrams SW movies could even feature "Death Universes" and "Death Multiverses", unfathomably huge superweapons that can destroy whole universes and multiverses with a single shot!!! They could possibly even be used to blow up Heaven itself, killing God and His son, Baby Jesus--who could be like the new Baby Yoda! Adorable!!!

The Lord of the Rings is a foundational piece of literature for the fantasy genre. Many of its character qualities have since become tropes in subsequent fantasies such as elves being old wise creatures as opposed to being the Santa variety. Star Wars occupies a similar position as a genre that has inspired its own now standard characteristics, what are some that you notice most specifically?
I'd like to see you do a series on some of the lesser known characters and storylines from the EU, for example someone like Ferus Olin was surprisingly important and prominent, but is straight up obscure.
Worth noting is that galaxies DO NOT orbit their supermassive black holes like a giant solar system. While their gravitational pull is immense, a supermassive is nowhere close to being enough to hold even a dwarf galaxy together, let alone the Milky Way or the slightly larger SW galaxy.

Interesting the deep core was not further explored since the ancient Jedi's came from Tython which was located in the Deep Core. Koros Major also known as Empress Teta was also in the deep core and was a very influential world in the galaxy due to being the early supplier of Carbonite used for sleeper ships during early exploration. I would think Koros Major would have explored further into the deep core before Palpatine.
Great video as yes, the deep core was a a den of ultimate, evil and villainy, the heartlands of Sidious secret dark empire, the last redoubt of the imperial warlords, the Yvethea and several other massed and powerful weapons of war and destruction just waiting to strike the civilised galaxy from the darkness and shadows of the mysterious deep core.

In the Story it is said that this Black Hole is the end of all things, it came from outside the galaxy and it is slowly devouring the Galaxy, it is located in the South-western most corner in the galaxy, bordering the Outer-rim and Wild Space. It is called the Long Shadow. Do u wanna theorycraft that a other supermassive black hole would cause the end of all life in the galaxy. It is the black hole where Pirate Legend Nok Drayen sent his ship filled with his treasures into. Swtor made it sound like that the Long Shadow is this inevitable coming disaster but just forgets about it

Hey Eck, have you ever talked about why turbolasers have vertical firing arcs without a relevant source of gravity as seen in The Last Jedi? Also, why ships seem to have an agreed upon xy axis when meeting in space and rarely seem to encounter each other at odd angles?

Were there Y wings present during the battle over Corusant I ask since we dont see any during RoS, if not is there an in universe reason for this? 2. Why was the Y wing used as the Alliances primary ground attack craft and atmospheric bomber even if newer ships X-wings and B-wings were available (this question also applies to the GAR as well)? 3. Is there anything the Y-wing could do better than the B-wing, outside of being cheaper and less maintenance heavy, was there any sort of advantage to picking it over the B-wing, assuming the turret is working. 4. If the Y-wings turrets in A New Hope had a gunner or were automated and functional, do you think the Trench Run would have gone differently as they could properly defend themselves from Lord Vader and his wingmen? The EU defined satalite galaxies within orbit of the known galaxy, which was the largest in the local group of galaxies. They were denoted with the letters of Aurebesh. An example would be Companion Besh, known as Firefist. There's a moment within AOTC when Obi-Wan observed a viewscreen with two galaxies on it. One is identified as the Rishi Maze within the film. It is top left. Firefist was bottom right. Canonically, only the Rishi Maze is identified from that same viewscreen. Peridea's galaxy is known as the far galaxy. Positionally, it's likely much further out.
Guess the best spots to build some secret fleets and the likes would be planets outside a solar system. They would be super hard to find , as they were not orbiting a star, so if only you knew its position, you could have secret holdouts there, massive automated ship and equiment building facilities that could resupply you, with your enemy not knowing for certain where you got your stuff from. Like, maybe you find a giant gas planet with a large number of moons lightyears away from the next solar system. You'd just mine the moons for its metalls to build ships and weapons and the gas giant for its gasses as fuel and atmospheric gases for crews.

Ya know, what if the Super-Massive Black Hole at the Center of the Galaxy just so happens to be another entrance to a space between the force? Kinda like what Mortis was, an ethereal place where the Force was extremely potent, essentially a Force Nexus, one outside of the mortal plane/realm. Except in this case, it's clearly still within reach (theoretically, that is) and not outside of regular space like Mortis was. Imagine if there are "sleeping" Celestials in there, like in a comatose/stasis-like state, perhaps a few that like, took the response to keep the Core stabilized, and therefore the galaxy, meaning that mayhaps they've allowed the Star Wars Galaxy to be less volatile than most other Galaxies maybe? I dunno, just food for thought to make it even cooler. These Celestials would just be in their OG "spiritual" forms, unlike the Mortis Gods and Bendu who evidently decided to remain physical and active in the Galaxy. (Well, not the Bendu, he just kinda wanted to sleep and do his own thing but... yeah whatever, you guys get my point) 😅
The Wellspring of Life also existed within the Deep Core, near the centre of the known galaxy. So, a supermassive black hole within the Star Wars mythos may serve as a region of which raw stellar energy is siphoned into the Cosmic Force. An ammendment, however Mortis is essentially a seperate ethereal realm described as a conduit of which all the Force flows, explaining the powerful vergence it was. Not necessarily a limbo between the Living or Cosmic Force.

Also, if the Wellspring of Life is in the Deep Core, what about the Fountain of Power, since we know these are the places the Son and Daughter visited to fully unlock their Celestial Potential (or maybe that's only a Legends thing but still, food for thought) Also, when you say "raw stellar energy" being siphoned unit the Cosmic Force, what do you mean by that? I know the Living and Cosmic Force feed into each other, but how does this idea of yours factor into that? (Not questioning or saying you're wrong, I'm just asking for clarification, for I am very interested at the moment)
@DovaDude I was actually just thinking of something similar, like if they specifically made it so the Star Wars Galaxy was protected since some of their creations outside of it are... far too dangerous to be dealt with. The Mortis Gods created Centerpoint Station, so a massive "Dyson Sphere" of sorts around the Massive Black Hole could be a cool concept. One that acts as a massive Interdiction/Gravity-Well
@@thalmoragent9344 If it was an interdiction field that surrounded the galaxy it would shut down all hyperspace inside of it too. I was thinking something along the lines of a penrose sphere that essentially constricts all hyperspace lanes leading outside of the galaxy.
I have a question what does the empire/first order do with their dead storm troopers seems like they would have a lot of em. And for that matter damaged vessels. a special place from where they came from etc...
#askeck This one's gonna be a little different, you ever played the space sim Elite:Dangerous? It has a 1:1 Milky Way galaxy to travel across, and it abides by real life physics. So for example, space flight isn't a ww2-esque dogfight but rather it uses inertia & thrust vectoring and whatnot. The game might be long in the tooth these days at almost 10yrs old and suffering a decline, but it's absolutely worth giving a chance for someone like yourself. I brought it up because this video made me recall an expedition I took once to our galactic core. It took ages to get there, and it needs serious prep work to do it safely, but it was pretty crazy. The density of the systems in there is ridiculous, you're practically tripping over them. Let's say the density for average space towards the galactic edges is akin to looking at the sky in a suburban area with some light pollution but not much. The density in the core was like being in the middle of northern Canada's wilderness with no light pollution whatsoever. And travelling to a nebula looks amazing, like the crab nebula or the horsehead nebula to name a few. There's a lot more that could be said, but I'd be writing a whole book. It's a really cool game if you're into the genre. I haven't touched it in about 4-5 years but I was thinking about reinstalling it again. As a bonus fact, the model of our galaxy is so on point that several systems were discovered IRL which were nearly identical to how the ai model composed them years prior to their discovery.

For me since they've shown Corran Horn as a kid I would like to see them do a story about his time in Corsec, the Corellian Police, it would be interesting to see how people handled things during the height of the Empire and it would be the perfect opportunity to explore The Path that was introduced in Obi Wan.
I like the idea of a massive quasar being in the center. It is a black hole sure but it does have a lot of unknown potential. Kind of like a super interstellar entity that is able to shoot out close to the same amount of mass it takes in. Realistically I doubt it would be THAT simple but hey starwars logic it’d be a bit reasonable Plus quasar just fun to say lol 😂

In either Legends or Cannon, did Obi-Wan's relationship with Satine Kryze contribute to Anakin's fall to the dark side? I'd imagine that this may have lead to some additional sting to Vader's resentment of Kenobi after Padme's death, maybe even torturing Anakin before his fall as he might have debated talking to Obi-Wan as "he might understand", especially as Kenobi even confided with Skywalker at one point regarding Satine and then throw in Kenobi's return to Mandalore for his failed rescue attempt of her. #AskEck

Hey Eck! I was wondering if you had any idea just how badly the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War devastated the Galaxy (Legends or Cannon, take your pick). I've wondered this since reading the (excellent) novel _Dark Forces Rising,_ when the protagonists had a minor freak out upon learning that Thrawn had found reliable cloning tech, since the Empire had almost depleted the manpower within its territory and this would allow a new round of conflict. The implication that every able bodied man across multiple worlds had died in war was a pretty horrifying thought by itself, as well as a disturbing indication as to just how massive and devastating the war had been. I know that this isn't the most flashy or epic facet of war to focus on, but I've always wondered how a Galaxy that's constantly seeing epic wars can withstand the constant devastation. Is galactic civilization close to falling apart from the strain, or is it capable of churning out even grander conflicts?
Wasn't in legends the exact center of the galaxy essentially a black hole cluster called the Maw meant to imprison Abeloth? And wasn't it where Isaard built the prototype death star?
