wait, this class only has 3 years in the league, and they already have 3 all stars and they are in rookie contracts, even 2nd rounders are nba starters, there are players like Kuzma, Josh Hart, Thomas Bryant, Anunoby, Jarret Allen who are solid players, i think the 2017 class is really talented...for example the 2014 draft class only has 1 all star, and they have been in the league for 6 years now! that is a bad draft class
Yea, the 2017 draft is decent, but before that draft, we thought the 2017 class would be legendary, like 2004, 1996, and 1984. It has produced multiple all stars, but hasn’t lived up to the hype
@@kennywest9134 what do you mean by “he needs to show something”? He was literally a DPOY candidate and was singlehandedly carrying the Magic’s defense, before his injury. It is questionable whether he’ll ever be back to his level after the injury, but he definitely lived up to his hype.
@@dillonemery323 LOL. He is a career 34% shooter and the closest he has ever got to 40% was last year... 37% is not 40%... 39% would be "almost 40%" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2 years later, this class is looking way better. 6 allstars so far. Crazy value in late picks like Jarrett Allen, O.G Anunoby, Kyle Kuzma, Derrick White and Josh Hart in the 22-30 range. Many players taking jumps like Lauri and Monk.
Lauri was really one of my favorite rookies in 2017, Lavine deserves no blame, boylen deserves a 100%, beating up his players more than necessary and taking the ball literaly out of markkanens hand and making him a spot up shooter, i still feel like he can be a 20ppg scorer next to lavine!
Yeah, I went back to play 2k18 and I saw like Markelle and Lonzo make the hall of fame. Josh Jackson won a championship with the grizzlies. Lauri and Giannis made some type of “Generational Duo” for the bucks And Malik monk won a championship with the Hornets... A lot of weird shit happened 😂
@@jordancharles8598 yes it was. Before that draft, people were comparing it to the 2003, 1996, and 1984 drafts. People were really hyped. There was supposed to be multiple hall of farmers in that class
1. Jonathon Isaac is not a disappointment,he’s just gotten injured. 2. Lauri Markkanen hasn’t been disappointing, he’s been playing for horrible systems that aren’t for him. 3. Fults had an injury bro and he’s been looking really good on the magic so far. 4. If you know anything about basketball Lonzo has recently been an above average pg and been showing great potential all his career. You just skipped over the time on the Pelicans and highlighted his bad shooting on the lakers which has improved along with all aspects of his game every season.
You have to look at it from where they were drafted at though, Zo wasn’t the best in his first couple years, but he’s become a solid starter, amazing defender, improved shooting, Playmaking but as a number 2 overall he was excepted to be a franchise guy. Fultz has started to put together but he real do you ever see him making a AllStar even one? Even if he becomes a starting level talent in this league btw he hasn’t proven it, it’s been in small spurts because he’s struggled with injuries. For being drafted 1st overall that’s a low bar to set for him. Lauri is the definition of mid he fits well with what Cleveland is doing but the dude ain’t nun special at best a solid role player or 4th option. Jonathan Issac for amazing as he is on defense and shown improvement on the offensive side we actually need to see it before rating him but he’s always hurt so we can’t even do that.
Zach and Markken came to the Bulls at the same time.wth with the "then Zach arrived" comment?? Zach always had the possibility of being a really good player,he just had tore his acl so Minnesota upper management dumped him rather then listening to Thibs and keeping him.
@@cmfrtblynmb02 yeap, but TWolfs upper management said no..also Kris Dunn was the main piece the Bulls wanted,Marrken was the gravy, and Zach was just a throw in that nobody expected to be good. Funny how things turned out huh? I still believe it was a good trade for the Bulls.had Kris not Face planted and had a different attitude he may have turned into something special.but who knows,he may have been given the Deng treatment during this time and why he just needed to get out of here. Given up the 16th pick was stupid, bout the only complaint I had during the trade.
Have you seen the Orlando Magic without Johnathan Issac, they are considerately worst on defense and that is the reason they can make the playoffs. Just last year for the first month I had him defensive player of the year.
@@kingkingin7131 his defense will suffer and that will impact the team. His shooting ability will still be great though. Defense will be middle of the road at best.
@@user-xo7go4rr7g see that's just a massive lie, no he can't create his own shot yet but he is a pretty good 3pt shooter and catches and shoot player, plus he is an underrated post scorer
@@numbereleven168 but thats a big part of the deal..YOU HAVE TO BE ON THE COURT TO PRODUCE..he gets hurt opening mail!!,u guys will be saying the same shit in year 8..my god u pom pom dudes annoy the shit outta me,smh
Nathan %% I love Frank but the only thing he can do to salvage his career is to get a 3 point shot. A lot of teams are going to find it hard to play him when the only thing he can do is play defense, albeit some high IQ solid defense. We’ll see how thibs uses him but if thibs of all coaches doesn’t play him much then who will ... Frank is built for somebody like thibs
I can’t believe someone would really say Jonathan Isaacs’ career is going worse than Luke Kennard, a man who literally only impacts the game through his jumper
I feel like that trade from Dallas did Dennis Smith in. Basically after he came back from injury I feel like Dallas had already chose up because Luka was playing so well and basically needs the ball in his hands like Dennis.
@@jdunc3789 Trust me, they gave up on each other. DSJ was frustrated trying to share the floor with Luka. I think he should of settled into a 6th man role but he refused to take a backseat
Exactly I thought it was one of the deepest ! And the 2016 draft class was said to be a weak draft class and now looking back at it , it’s very DEEP AND GOOD
@@JohnFKennedy313 definitely...tbh feel like the knicks have kinda showed he can play at the 2...call me crazy but the athleticism+ball dominant nature that helps him score+speed+defensive potential gives me like a mini young d wade vibe if wade had absolutely no confidence/motor
So far this is turning out to be a monster draft class. Rarely do the top picks in a draft turn out to be the best players, but this is still the strongest draft class in a while.
My boy Jonathan Isaac is a defensive God and I hope he can stay healthy. Don’t be surprised if he wins at least 1 DPOY and is on multiple All-Defensive Teams
Fultz: averaging 19 points and 8 assists a game this year Lonzo: starting point guard for the pelicans Jayson Tatum: all star for an eastern conference team Josh Jackson: averaging 17 points this year De’Aaron Fox: averaging 20 and 7 assists Jonathan Isaac: giannis build starting for a playoff team with a jumper
College players can't ball really, most of them can't. They are lucky to get millions just for their "potential". That's why there are so many busts. Somehow people still say Europeans are more likely to become busts, when there's really a huge load of American players busting like no tomorrow.
I mean half of that is true and half of that isn’t. D-1 players can ball. Period. The NBA is just a different breed of players and they are only the elite 0.0001% of the worlds talent. The US definitely produces the best talent so assuming Europeans could be better is a bit naive considering most scouts have people been watching the US talent since they were teens. This is one draft class compared to one like LeBron’s were the European talent just fizzled out either due to injury or other obligations. It’s a risk because they don’t have the same training and it takes a lot more effort for most European talent to be great. Giannis didn’t come into the league this way. He was molded after years training and the same will have to be said about a guy like Deni Avdija. If we just limit the outlook to this draft Frank and Lauri won’t ever be as good as Jason Tatum, Donovan Mitchell, Jonathan Issac, and Bam.
College players are pretty good. It’s one-and-done players that normally flake out so easily. But it’s never 100% the players. It’s also the organizations that draft them. But like you said, teams draft on potential.
@@Verdaddd lonzo lol he’s a bust. They said he was the next curry or nash no were near that plus he’s been traded and on 3 dif teams overrated af Melo is good lonzo is average at best
@@barakobama9743 lonzo when he was drafted was terrible. When he was in NO, he got better, same goes with his shooting. Now in the bulls, hes doing better. Just currently out. Hes a solid player.
The fact that Bam Adebayo, fell off the top 10 and was chosen 14th, literally became one of the best players of the 2017 draft class along with Jayson Tatum, Donavan Mitchell, and De'Aaron Fox. Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball are sort of improving while guys like Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith Jr., and Frank Nitikina aren't really doing anything to improve their game
This class has underachieved... Lonzo Ball - Great passer, great defender, crazy high IQ, amazing team impact. Jason Tatum - Superstar already an MVP candidate, all-star, best player on a contending team. De'Aaron Fox - Should be an all-star but in the west, 20 ppg scorer, best player on a playoff contender. Jonathan Isaac - One of the best youngest defenders ever, future multiple time DPOY winner if he stays healthy. Lauri Markkanen - Great stretch four and underrated defender, possibly future all-star. Zach Collins - highly impactful and one of the best role players in the league. Luke Kennard - One of the best shooters in the league. Donovan Mitchell - offensive superstar, all-star, career 20+ppg scorer. Bam Adebayo - Top 4 Center in the league, all-star, DPOY candidate. That's literally just the lottery, there are so many more great players, this is gonna be an all-time great draft
Zach Collins has been excellent for the blazers only thing holding him back is injuries. If he can get healthy he will have a long career as a serviceable big in the league.
By 1999, the 1996 draft had only produced 2 All-Stars. Kobe and Iverson. But it still had Steve Nash, Ray Allen, Peja Stojakovic, Jermaine O’Neal and other future All-Stars. This class is actually pretty decent so far.
exactly, he literally had a serious knee injury in January 2020 where he looked like he dislocated his knee then came back and tore his ACL in the bubble. you'd think for running a bball channel he'd know a bit better. Also Lonzo isn't a bum like this guy says. He was killing the second half of last season until the rona hit and contributes in many categories of the game
This draft class is still solid later in the 1st round u still have potential future all stars like John Collins,OG Anunoby, Jarret Allen and other solid role players
@@JimmyDee12 hahahaha fuck outta here, don't start blaming LeBron because kuzma is inconsistent. Laker fans don't even like him and his point average went up when LeBron came the first year so don't start with that bs.
Probably it's mostly down to the players but hey look at the teams that "win" into the lottery. Case in point: Nkilitina I feel would have done decent in a well-run club. He is in purgatory, hoping for someone to help him escape N.Y. Get it?
I hate how we rush to judge players instead of letting them develop. It’s only their fourth year in the league and a lot of them are solid role players that won’t be out the league in a long time
@@kvshuzumaki382 I hope so cus NOW the Hawks put themselves in a predicament as now they gotta see how Collins fit in w/ the new additions to the roster AND give him an extension before he walks. I’m guessing Andy only mentioned those who were either overhyped or under appreciated from that draft. Collins was more so average in the 1st year.
This take is super bold, but I think Josh Jackson is gonna break out this season and look like one of the best players on the pistons. He’s looked great this preseason, I think he’s a MIP contender ngl
To think, the Sixers could've drafted their 3-player super team if they picked Tatum. They could've been the next Warriors "Curry-Thompson-Green" or the Thunder "Durant-Westbrook-Harden".
Fultz was NOT the consensus front office pick of the Sixers. In fact, after his disastrous workout with the Sixers when he could not hit a basic shot, the junior brass pleaded with Colangelo NOT to draft Fultz. He did anyway and that decision was a key reason he was later fired.
Give them time the NBA is different some guys need to learn to adjust by year 6 in a guys prime that's when you finally see them hit that ceiling everyone isnt lebron wade or going to be a superstar year 1
2021. Lauri Markkanen, Markelle Fultz, Dennis Smith Jr, and Josh Jackson are all starting to play really good. Markelle Fultz was on the verge of looking like a borderline All-Star and MIP candidate, Josh Jackson (Even Though I don't like him much) and Dennis Smith are rekindling all of that talent they needed to be good NBA players, now that Jim Boylen is gone Lauri has phenomenal at times. Lonzo Ball is has been really good, and teams are jumping at the chance at obtaining him, Fox is an underrated All-Star. This class will definitely finish top 20 All-Time if they keep this up.
DSJ had a pretty good rookie year. I think being traded so early from being the main focal point of offense, and the hostility of the NY crowd really hurt him. I think his confidence has been broken and his one shot at being decent again would be on a smaller market team with a solid coach who could build him back up
DSJ is one of those players who mentally needs to get it together just like Fultz and even a star like PG I have faith though they’ll be back to normal soon
Isaac’s biggest problem is his availability he’s always hurt but he’s a few healthy season away from an all defensive team. OG looks good in Toronto, Collins is Solid at 18 and 8 a game, and even Jackson has been looking better on Detroit as a quality rotation player.
Celtics could’ve just drafted Tatum #1 overall, but Ainge felt like that wasn’t enough and completely swindled the sixers out of another future first rounder and let them think they were getting the best player in the draft lmao one of the all time greatest draft heists imo
