Honestly, might forego the backpack altogether and go with a wheeled bag or cart. As you get older, and after a few injuries, getting the spine compressed doesn't feel so good. Take care of your back and hips now maybe it will treat you better later on.

Great backpack, I had the same one. It does get heavy once fully loaded. So now I carry a backpack and a small tool bag to redistribute the weight and make it easier to carry. Like others here have mentioned, I don't like going back to the vehicle for tools I forgot either.

For your Allan keys I’d recommend getting a set of the Klein folding ones. There nice and big do you can get a lot of torque on em

For lineman pliers I’d recommend the Klein D2000-9NE. Having smaller hands the dipped grips would work perfect and you’d never need another pair unless they get blown up or stolen. I have those same ones that I have been using for going on 25 years now. Channellock 349 are also a good pair however the cutter don’t last at long as Klein in my opinion.

I’m gonna have to look into those!!

@@jessthesparky definitely will not be disappointed with them. The diagonal cutters you have are the same 2000 series so they are able to cut screws and ACSR. Worth the little bit of extra money.

I have that same backpack! I jammed a little camping foot stool thing (I think it's made by rothco) in the side of the main compartment (inside the compartment, not in the side pockets) to help it stand up better.

Keep up the great work. If you find malco flip bits . Look at volt claw , channel lock steel tying pliers they have a hooked handle makes it easy to twist and pull Kline makes some. As well iron workers pliers.

One thing else is a small magnet tray drill a 1/8 hole in side down by the bottom . And add a split ring and snap ring like what's on a dog leash . It's makes where you can clip it to your belt loop or bag.

I was so close to buying that same backpack, but my Home Depot had ONE packout backpack left and it was on huge sale so I took it. It looks like the husky is a nice size bag, but I was able to take a packout wall mount and add wheels, so now it is easy to move when I'm on a job. You don't have a beater screwdriver though?

@@jessthesparky I have the HVAC demo driver from Milwaukee, and it's fantastic. I've made holes in concrete with it, it's got a square shank so you can grab it with a wrench if you need more leverage... it's strong af. You should check it out. It has a groove for starting holes in sheet metal but it's useful for a lot more than that..

Well I have a Klein backpack that's way to heavy. I am looking for a smaller bag and think the husky one looks good. I carry about the same tools or a little more. I hate having to go back to the van for a tool I forgot so try to carry everything. Thanks for the video and keep up the great job.

If you go with a union or pre apprenticeship they will show you literally everything! And that’s what your journeymen are always for, ask lots of questions :)

Hi Jess thanks for this video. Did you know harbor freight makes a collapsible wheel cart that you can easily bungee your back pack to? I highly recommend you get it. Please do not strap that heavy bag to your back you have to small of a frame to handle that load. My friend is was your size and she was in the army; she blew a disk one day out of nowhere and suffers so much now in her 40s. Be smart and wheel it with the extra bag on top with bulky items so no one is the wiser. You will start a trend.

I am an electrician/hvac, in Denmark. I watched your video with my daughter. She has a few questions that I hope you will answer. 1. your master does not pay for your tools. 2. what do an apprentice and journeyman earn per hour.

Historically neither the journeyman nor the employer pays or in any way reimburses you for your tools. If you are lucky, a journeyman with whom you have a good working relationship will give you a tool they do not want. With reference to pay, the amount depends on your location and local supply and demand for workers and potential jobs/contracts. For example, in Houston the pay is less than the shipyards in Washington state.

What was your reason to go with the backpack? I have a hand bag and may switch. Are you still happy with the purchase or would you go with something else? Thanks!
