A little video about my fire lighting pouch.
What is in and why is it in there?
Detailed but short explanation of every item in the pouch.
Nothing unique in the end, we learn and pass it on 🙂
Let me know in the comments if you have one to, and if yes, what's in it?
Thanks for tuning in today!
🖖😎

Thanks for the compliment! The pencil sharpener i have is from Aluminium. This is how we improve our skills, share our knowledge and adapt to our own use :) Thanks for your comment Age! 🖖😎

The only other thing I can think of is a small handsaw to cut kindling, and a container with dryer lint infused with petroleum jelly. A pinch of this at the bottom of an H-Fire pit will light in the rain. I've done it. Back when I learned it, 35mm film canisters were still around so I'd keep one of those around filled with dryer lint and vp jelly in case of bad weather or injury and you need to make a fire easy way for sure.

My kit usually contains a knife or folding saw to produce firewood and tinder, i use cotton with candle wax to, they where not in my kit though.

In very cold weather I've had to keep the BIC lighters and anything butane fueled near my body heat to keep it from succumbing to it's high freeze point. Keep the BIC in your inner pants front pocket, keep your butane fuel tank in your sleeping bag with you in winter. I have scraps of wood in the garage that are too good to throw so I can relate to the "too good" had to collect it and take it home kindling. Bon Soiree.

Nice kit, very similar to mine. I also have a small Magnesium bar attached to my ferro rod & I remove the child safety from the Bic lighters so they are easier to use when you are cold or wet. Mike.

oh nice, i should look into one of those magnesium sticks to, isnt that super bright when you strike them? somehow i got used to the safety on those (i'm a smoker, several daily uses sadly) but will always help if it is non existent :) Thanks for watching and your comment Mike 🖖😎

@@34outdoor Yes the Magnesium is very bright when ignited! Super hot as well! burns fast but will light almost any tinder.

Have you considered packing Dog or Cat hair? you can carry a good handful and it squeezes down to be small, very light and will catch fire so fast when you strike to it? Maybe a new item to add to your kit

How do you keep your backpack contents dry in the rain? I use a thick black garbage can liner. Just put it in first before I pack the bag from the top. Keeps everything dry and I just twist the top knot before I close the bag zipper.

Yeah that's a great way to keep stuff dry, i use drybags/canoe bags, a little bit more durable then a garbage bag. Thanks for watching and your comment(s) 🖖😎
