You're actually not supposed to remove the padding in the pocket. It protects the back and doubles as a removable seat cushion! Lot's of people do that by accident because it looks like cheap filler foam, but it's a great high density material.

I recommend a good laptop sleeve for your laptop, maybe not a super thick wise to save space in your bag but it will protect it from nasty scratches, anything getting into the plugs of your laptop or even worse a crack or chip :)

My Kanken backpack is amazing too EXCEPT FOR THE STITCHING on the inside! It's always coming apart and there are strings hanging so I always have to cut them... but it doesn't seem to effect the actual stitching together of the backpack? If that makes sense? It's super weird.

yo love the video but just a heads up - the bag comes with a little foam pad type of thing which youre supposed to keep in the bag; it prevents stuff in your bag from poking you and you can take it out to sit on it if youre on a dirty surface. heard you mention laptops would have no padding but thats supposed to be it :-)

Since you carry your laptop with the classic kanken, does it hurt without the strapped pads ? I prefer the straps without the strapped pads it just looks more aesthetic but i'm afraid in the long run it would hurt since I have a macbook too.

It's a Leuchtturm 1917 with a NASA meatball sticker stuck on it. I purchased the sticker on a tour to JPL, but you can also purchase it on NASA's website! www.shopnasa.com/products/nasa-meatball-decal

Hello! I've been thinking of getting one of these but am very undecided as to the size I should buy... I love the classic one (that's yours right), and don't mind that it doesn't have a laptop bag... what I didn't really get was if your laptop (15 inch right?) fit into the main compartment... and does does it fit with a sleeve? i have a 15 inch laptop and the classic will not hold a 15 inch laptop comfortably. just get the 15 inch laptop kanken tbh. it comes with shoulder straps as well so it's a win-win

I actually didn't have a great relationship with my One Plus phone and retired it and got an iPhone instead! It was a solid phone but the camera quality, GPS, and basic functions like calling people stopped working, so I just had to jump off the android band wagon :c

Just super curious, are the people in your degree lowkey snobby to other science majors/degrees? I'm doing a chemistry degree and I find that plenty of them think they're the ants pants and when doing math subjects with other physics/engineering students, they kinda don't vibe with each other.

Ok. I just hacked the bag. Because the straps are short what you can do is unbottom the strap and then just pull through and then one strap will be double the length and then. Guys. it’s actually wearable.
