I am from Sweden and my mom bought my classic kånken for me around 10 years ago for around 50 dollars

It’s really expensive because of the quality, how long it lasts, and how environmentally friendly it is.

Honestly, it’s kinda nuts to see what other people struggle with regarding school. I have 7 classes every day which require at least a notebook each + books and a binder for all the work sheets we get. Every video i see of people showing their every day backpack contents is like 2 notebooks and some other stuff 😩😩 y’all are soooo lucky

I want a kanken so badly, but yeah all the things you said make sense. I would want it in addition to my other bags, not on its own. Loved the video!

I was thinking about buying a kanken but after August I kind of lost interest because of the price, but recently I remembered that my friend had a kanken that I never saw her use after the first semester. I asked her if she didn’t want it any more and if she didn’t if she would consider letting me buy it , she said yes so I got it for way less, I really suggest using apps/sights such as depop ( sorry if I spelt it wrong) if you would like this bag and can not afford the high price. When considering buying this bag I remembered that you could get it in many different colours and that black was an option, being a student means putting my bag down on fields, in dirty classroom and much more meaning I need a bag where stains or marks don’t usually show up. The colour black was another reason I brought this bag off my friend. I am a tall girl meaning when I tried this bag on it looked quite small in comparison to my body ( I have the classic) so that is something to keep in mind, but all body’s are different so my kanken might look different on my body compared to yours. As I was talking about stains, the kanken is not machine washable meaning you need to soak it or sponge wash off marks, this could be different depending on how worn out your kanken is. I decided that I wasn’t going to wash mine because it was already fragile and the the rough conditions of the washing machine could break some of the stitching. When I first opened my kanken I checked to make sure it was real and I was glad to find out it was, please consider watching a video on RU-vid or anywhere else on real vs fake kankens the signs, before purchasing a kanken it could save you a lot of money especially when not buying it off the official website. I loaded six normal sized textbooks into the back slip in my classic kanken and still had plenty of space for other items, was glad to know this becuase one of my main concerns was that the kanken wasn’t going to be big enough for school, with this i have realised that I would have space in my bag for a water bottle because the outside pockets weren’t big enough for my particular water bottle. If anybody is looking for a backpack, I would recommend the Doughnut Macaroon! Although, it isn't for everyone as it does have some aspects made with real leather. Although, they have a ton of compartments, and are super cute! ❤

one of my classes requires a binder and it’s so annoying to take in and out. I keep my binder closer to the front so idk if that makes it easier or not??

Thank you for your honest review about Kanken, i still dont know what to buy anyway thats why ive been watching lots of videos in YT to see if its worth it.. But even if its not worth it there's something in Kanken that i love.. Im in between buying Classic or the Kaken 17" but my laptop wont fit in there anyway.. Cause mine is 17.3 or maybe i should just buy another bag for my laptop? I need your help guys.

For binders I suggest getting binders that have flexible plastic. There usually aren’t pockets on the side of these binders. Binders like these aren’t hard cover so they won’t be as heavy or as bulky.

I would recommend investing in kokuyo Campus binder notebooks because I hated how big binders are too and the kokuyo ones are so slim and refillable :) it’s a bit expensive but you can always reuse the notebook and put away your old notes in folders and just restock in paper

i don’t know how anyone uses a kanken... i’m in middle school and i could fit max like 4 folders and two notebooks. forget about your giant pencil case. my glasses were close to getting crushed and every time i reached for my ipad or a folder way in the back i would scratch my hand. i couldn’t fit a regular water bottle (disposable), let alone use my hydroflask. i’m small so i got the normal size, maybe it would work out if your tall and carry a minimal amount of things. front pocket can barely fit a pencil. don’t waste your money.

On their website it shows pictures of stuff in the bag and there is usually a water bottle on the inside so the side must be for something else

I’m just now seeing this I ordered two when they were on sale and where I work my store works with kanken so on top of it being on sale I got 40% off so I got a mini and full size for about $70 I love my mini I use it as a purse all the time my big one is for weekend trips!!

You know that you can wash the backpack, right? What I do is I use a kitchen sponge and a clothing detergent to wash it.

if you want a kanken you should buy it near the holidays. Instead of paying 80$ the ones on sale are around 30$

How. Dare. You?! Lol kidding but I can’t say enough good things about my mini that I use as a purse. Honestly I don’t think I can come up with a single con. Granted I use mine as a purse and not for school.

Just to let you know, the kanken mini in cad is likeee 90 dollars plus taxes is like 103. Cents something so I find it a bit more expensive here in Canada..... and the classic is like 100$ so at the end with taxes 115$$
