Thanks again to Ritual for sponsoring this video! I love their vitamins because they're the only one's that I've tried that don't upset my stomach or taste weird. Remember to click here www.ritual.com/GEMARY20 for 20% off your first month!

Take your own pillow and travel comfy blanket and keep an extra set in the car incase you’re in hospital more than a couple days - I was grateful I did this and my husband too. If you do have a c-section that pillow can fit under the seatbelt over your stomach for the drive home. If you’re using a breast pump, bring with you so they can help you learn to use it and utilize the hell out of the nurses and lactation consultants there for breastfeeding help/guidance if you go that route. Also consider booking a few post hospital visits with a lactation consultant as well. Nursing difficulties was the most stressful thing I experienced as a brand new mom. And it’s great that you’re bringing newborn formula just incase!

Hi Gemary! As a post partum nurse I do recommend that whatever you bring such as pillow or blanket, you won’t feel bad disposing of after your stay. Just keep in mind we’re still in covid times and the hospital is just a place filled with germs you don’t want to bring home! Not worth it! I wouldn’t at least lol hope that helps!

A nursing pillow is a must. When I had my boys 10 years ago now, my favorite pillow was called "my breast friend." Believe me, it will save your back! Being hunched over for nursing when you don't have a good supportive pillow will cause back pain, which is the last thing you want after having a baby. Also, if you don't like rough scratchy hospital towels, I'd recommend to bring one as well as a super cozy blanket for yourself. I wish you a safe and speedy delivery!

As a mom of seven, I would take my own pillow and blanket. It will be important for you to get the sleep your body needs to heal. Having your own things can help you settle down more quickly between feedings. I also second the sleeping mask another commenter mentioned, if you’re sensitive to lights when going to sleep. The hospital I gave birth to all of my children in had a low light right above the bed that couldn’t be turned off. I’m sure it allowed the nurses to see more easily when entering the room, but it really made sleeping difficult for me! Best wishes with your delivery and new little one!!

So excited for you guys! I have two suggestions, Padsicles and nursing pads! I just went on Pinterest and looked up a recipe for the padsicles. They were amazing! Nursing pads were great for leaking. Sometimes you can just spontaneously leak milk( if you’re out and hear another baby crying for example). They even make nursing pads that collect the leaks. Take care! 🤍

Congratulations!! When I delivered I brought my bag and ended not using anything the hospital provided everything if you are planning to breastfeed bring a cream or lubricant for nursing. I found it very useful that will be my recommendation.

this is such a good list! A blanket and pillow for you and your partner (even if you just leave in the car) really helped me get cozy after labor. Eye masks for both of you is super helpful too! If you are gearing up for breastfeeding - it can be super easy for some people and hard for others to get the hang of! Took me 2 months to get it. I found a LC after the hospital stay because I felt very overwhelmed. Excited for you!!

Hello Gem. I would say take your pregnancy pillow if you have one, take the fan and as of the blanket I don’t think you will need it because you can ask the nurses to get you as many blankets as you need. There are no rules that stop you from doing that so I would say ask for it. For the pregnancy pillow if you do have one and decide to take it, see if you can get a cover for it that you will remove once you get home, just not to mix hospital stuff with home stuff.

The adult diapers is the move! I didn’t try them until after I left the hospital but they are WAY more comfortable and easy to put on/take off than the mesh undies/pad situation.

I didn’t take my own pillow or blanket and I was fine but it’s so individual! Do what you feel will make you happiest/most comfortable. Yes to the fan!! My hormones were over the top after delivery so my legs and feet were cold, my torso and face were sweaty like a workout half the time. And yeah, you’re probably taking more than you need but so what? Hoping in advance that all goes well

Hi Gemary! I’m a nurse and I can confirm that the hospital has everything you need. But I understand you want to bring things that you prefer which is fine! I get it. However, I will say that usually it’s more convenient and economical to utilize the hospital’s supplies. Anyways, congratulations again to you and Rodger! ❤

I wore a hospital gown the whole time, I was so out of it I never thought of putting on a bra. The most useful thing I remember was the ice paks they give you to put in your underwear. I remember asking for an extra one to bring home and they didn’t really want to give me one but they did. If they sell those on Amazon, I would definitely take them!!

I didn’t take a pillow or blanket and it was fine. Definitely bring your own baby wipes. I also brought my own yoga ball even though the hospital had them my doula recommended because who knows how long it would have taken them to bring me one. Skip the baby mittens. The gown and onesie you packed have fold over sleeves and feet and that is way better because mittens and socks just fall off when they’re newborn. I packed newborn and 0-3m onesie incase. Label the pouches in your bag or show Roger where everything is so he can find it for you because you definitely won’t be digging into it yourself and you won’t be able to direct him when you’re in labor. If you can I would bring haaka colostrum collectors already sanitized. My milk came in 2-3 days after I came home from a vaginal birth but I collected colostrum in the hospital. If you bring a breast pump make sure you’ve sterilized all the parts and the bottles beforehand.

Take a nursing pillow. You can leave it in the car and go get it if you decide you need it. I did not and had a family member go to our home and bring it to me. It was so much easier than a regular pillow.

Bring a few swaddles for baby. Of all the tons of stuff I packed I used the swaddles and my hair clip the most. Otherwise, everything fell to the wayside. Bring more wet wipes, an eye mask for you because you can't get those rooms dark enough, also tic tacs cuz you aren't getting up to brush your teeth for a while. Chap stick! Oh! And, have the Baby Brezza formula maker and formula in Roger's amazon cart so he can buy it asap in case you don't have milk. That device will save your family's life.

I bought 2 jars of that Earth Mama nipple butter but ended up not using it bc it has to be washed off before breastfeeding which is sooo inconvenient! Ended up using Lanolin constantly which is safe for baby to eat and serves the same purpose. Definitely recommend getting some. I would also highly recommend the nursing pillow- mine was the Boppy. Last thing is that I also only brought pull-down nursing bras and they were fine at the hospital because I ended up being shirtless the whole time however NOW (6 months pp) I ended up investing in a bunch of the nursing bras with the clip bc it’s a pain to pull your arm out of your sleeve to breastfeed in public. This is something I didn’t think about and wish I had better understood before I bought like 10 pull down nursing bras! The clip ones are the only way to casually breastfeed on the DL. Hope my tips help! The Lanolin one especially! GOOD LUCK!!! ❤

Don't forget some entertainment for waiting. Book or ipad downloaded with shows or movies. I'm also planning to bring some earplugs for peace of mind or to sleep during the day. I've heard some women suggest bringing your own roll of toilet paper since hospitals get the cheapest/scratchiest kind (not pleasant after birth). Also, I'm not sure whether to bring a hand breast pump and 1 bottle. The lactation consultant is there the first day to help figure things out, if you plan to breast feed? Let me know what you think!
