GREAT to see everyone! It's these sort of conversations that have sold me on club fitting BTW, and last winter just getting fitted for driver made a huge difference for me. Irons this winter!!
Loved this format. Always enjoy listening to the crew talk shop. Immensely jealous of your partnership with Titleist. Looking forward to what you have coming in 2024! And I can confirm that a hybrid is, in fact, a combination of a wood and iron.
I had a Titleist fitting at their UK Performance Centre at Woburn. It was a fantastic experience and can already see the benefits. Current handicap 7.1. ProV1 was the ball. TSR2 Driver, TSR1 3 wood, T350 6-GW, SM9 52, 56 and 60. Kept a couple of Ping hybrids (3 and 4) in my bag as they work so well. Tried 150's and 200's and when I caught them , they were a little bit longer. But, off centre hits I really saw a deterioration in distance and dispersion. We did try the 5 iron, but that gapping didn't really work, so will keep the Ping 4 hybrid in the bag for now. Throwing the ego out of the door and going to the 350's has been the correct decision. Turf interaction with the irons is great. The Vokey's are amazing. Fitting experience off the turf a huge benefit. My slightly steeper swing has me going to a 12 degree bounce which works really well off the parkland turf I play on. My bunker play with the 60 degree, 12 degree bounce is on a different level now. Just a shame that here in the UK, the fitting cost wasn't taken off the cost of the clubs!!
So enjoyable to watch this and get actual golf discussion. Got a satchel full of Titleist clubs as well. Actually just moved to the TSR4 with the heavy weight in the back (TSR3.5 setup) and it has been a game changer.
Also, listening to how everyone is playing and changed their setups as the season went on makes me think ... have we not seen y'all play in a while? Is there a Tourist Sauce in the can we're waiting on?
Great video! AVX is a very good ball and not just for slower swing speeds. More distance and less spin but still feels soft off the putter and wedges. And still plenty of spin for the average golfer to stop it on the green. Great ball but Titleist hasn't done a great job marketing it, as proven by the comments from Casey in this video ("you swing slow, why not just use the AVX?") which makes it sound as if it's a lesser ball for worse players. Not to say the x isn't best for her game, but I've found I hit the AVX longer and still with plenty of spin around the green.
Oh KVV, 59 degrees in Bal'mo? Ha ha. Played my round today in Asheville, 29 degrees. But yeah, the hoodie looks great. This was a great episode guys, thanks.
Titleist is a great brand, I have a Scotty putter. Too bad you cant use other brands, though. I’ve got clubs from seven different brands based on what’s best for me. Of course, I don’t get free clubs. 😂⛳️
How is Ben not on the Pro V1 Left Dash? If he had problems getting the ball up, I would assume that the ball would help him with his launch. He would probably get more yardage of the low spin.
Me and Big Randy hang hard. Im also one of those weirdos that has too little spin. Im in a 12* (-1) Paradym as well as T100s in 6-PW because I need the extra height and spin.
Hey off topic here but is the LIV/PIF endgame just a PGA championship in Saudi Arabia? That's assuming a star driven world tour is the future of professional golf
Cheaper than buying something that doesn't work for you. At this point if I don't have enough for a fitting and clubs then I don't have enough money for new clubs.
