Last night, Aug. 26 2023, while on a dinner cruise just off Nassau, The Bahamas, everyone was blown away by what i believe was a comet. It was in the north eastern sky. While we could still see the comet, a shooting star came behind. It was beautiful and breathtaking.

Im from Hull,in the UK I sat in my garden on saturday 12 Aug between(after the clouds had moved away) 11pm and 1am and saw over 20 shooting stars. 2 of them were yellow,2 left smoke trails and the rest were silver streaks.I missed a few as i poured drinks but 10 per hour i thought was worth the wait,it was a great display.

Thanks for you feedback Daniel. If you look at the moon phases Alyn includes at the 1.55 minute mark in his video you will see that the Sun always lights the moon from left to right. As in your photo the light is curving around the southern hemisphere of the moon. There is speculation that this is because the earth is tilting/wobbling, which alters our perspective of the moonlight. Recently the moon has been totally lit from the southern hemisphere which would indicate a 180 degree earth tilt. @@danielmunoz06

They calculate when the earth flies through the trails of certain comets. That's what the meteors are, debris from comets.
@AlynWallace
@AlynWallace 11 месяцев назад
Comets which cross through Earth's orbit leave a trail of dust and rock behind them. Earth then passes through that trail of debris roughly the same time every year as it orbits the Sun.

@@danielnorman8595 The Moon has negligible effect on such a matter. Jupiter on the other hand can have an impact. It's believe the Taurids debris stream was split into two by Juptier's gravity, giving rise to the Northern Taurid meteor shower and the Southern Taurids.

Thank you Alyn for a very clear guide to observation. With respect to you, you will do well to make a study of the reality of the true sizes and distances of the heavenly bodies. You can learn this from Eric Dubay by going to his website and clicking on videos at the top of the page or better still to read his book "The Flat Earth Conspiracy." Should you do this then you are in for a shock! Yes, the best shock you will ever experience, especially when you realise how close e.g. the Moon and Sun really are and that they are both approx. 3,000 miles away and the diameters are approx. 30 miles. The stars are not giant Suns, they, are 31,000 times smaller than the sizes propagated by mainstream astronomy, the religion of the Jesuit Cabal which poses as "science."
