I look at the planets a little bit with my binoculars , but i'm to busy watching for uap's. Three nights ago i got to see a military jet in pursuit of what seemed to be a UAP anyway. appearing from SW at 30 degrees above the horizon max height for about 5 min.but my view was blocked NW at 15 degrees above. The Craft looked like it was toying with the jet letting it catch up only to pull away when it got closer. It was pretty neat. i dont have a camera phone so no proof.
Not that I have recently gotten into astrophotography (my only equipment is a telescope and nothing more) but I am really excited to see what I can see through the lens. I live in an urban area, so there is a lot of light pollution and clouds, but on lucky nights, I can see the 6 visible planets along with a few bright stars. Looking forward to July!
I know you're mostly focused on larger FOV subjects, but Comet C/2017 K2 is a good target in July 2022 also. It's visible all night in both the northern and southern hemispheres I believe.
Not due till 23 January 2031 and even then it will miss us by many millions of distance that it won’t hit us. It may electrically interact with our Sun so we may get extra cme’s.
Not being a Patreon supporter or having bought any of your merch (yet) I don’t know if a humble earthbound soul like myself have say on your channel. But here is a topic I’d love for you to spend a moment or two on (as if you needed laymen as myself suggesting topics for you): Mercury is such an elusive planet, it almost borders on _not_ being a visible-to-the-naked-eye planet. I’ve successfully spotted it twice this year (your heads-ups on your WitNS were crucial both times). Most of us will go through life not ever seeing Mercury. What do you recommend for observing it? Or take a photo of it? What can you expect? Is it truly naked-eye or is it a binocular thing? (Now I’m not even sure you are a Patreon user)
I was blessed to see the ISS pass by the planetary alignment on the beach along with some distant lightning last week. I tried to capture the scene, but unfortunately my 20mm wasn't wide enough. I wonder how it's possible to capture the ISS in a multi-panel panorama without multiple cameras or faking it using Photoshop.
Just a passing comment on your well published RU-vid video @ 8:30 ('numbers' are one of the mediums we use to help us describe our reality') the Moon appears to me over the half century to have come closer to us...I wonder if astronomically if that could be proven either way???... logically for me it would seem over the eons that all the planetary objects would eventually come together in what ever trajectory it was on initially...??? Curious??? if with that kind of reasoning would 'knowledge' become an 🙏 adversarial thought??? Actually it does have a history of violence 'knowledge' doesn't it?.... well anyway back to the moon the june-july 2022 northwest Moon setting was very odd physically...did anyone else happen to see it? Good luck with your podcast... 🤗
Congratulations on the book. Are there Noctilucent clouds in the southern hemisphere ? I live in Hobart which is 42 degrees south and would I be able to see them.? Great channel look forward to all the content. Darren.
