This is gonna be swallowed, but my favorite is Howl's Moving Castle because when I was in the psychiatric hospital one of my doctors gave me the books and that helped me get out of my anxiety.
Awww, it’s one of my favourite movies too! My cousin showed me it when I was really young about 7 years ago. And about 3 or 4 years ago I tried to ring it on google...took me ages because I couldn’t remember the name haha. I started watching the movie whenever i felt like a panic attack was coming or after I had one to cool me down, and it still means a lot to me to this day! I’m so glad it helped you with your anxiety, hope your doing better now 💖
could also be the paper... unless she's had better experience on that paper. i've personally havent tried it but have heard a lot of artist friends' qualms on strathmore 400.
This is perfect because my friends literally just decided to marathon all of studio Ghibli for the whole of the next week Edit: sorry friend, as in one, I only have one
Your colour issue could be a difference between liquid and pan watercolours. I got used to using liquid and I put them in a palette and let them dry out, and the washes are definitely flatter, but I'm struggling with saturation variation because I have to add water to activate them so I can't get that out-of-tthe-tube depth of colour. Anyway, I hope that helps at all ^-^. I think they all turned out great by the way. I totally got what you meant, and/but it's kind of a preference thing. I also prefer a flat wash, but generally only when I'm the one painting it. I love the texture and splotches in other peoples' work. The splotches in the sky, for example, look to me like how the sky gets a splotchy blue variation when clouds are very light and breaking apart so they don't look so much like clouds as they do whispers of a lighter blue. Hope that makes sense haha. ♡
@@soda_fairy oh wow, this comment got a *lot* more attention that I had realized! Thank you so much for your reply, I always divide my thoughts (when I don't just forget) for that reason. I tend to ramble and no one likes trying to navigate a wall of text. I learned a lot time ago that if you actually want people to read what you wrote, don't make it actual torture lol. Thank you again!♡♡
paranoiaprincess if you want to get a more in depth out-of-the-tube colour you could spray or apply some water to the colours you are using first. Let them soak in the water so it is easier to pick up paint and you would usually get a more saturated colour when doing so.
The watercolors give me this kind of childhood charms to it that I absolutely fall in love with!! reminds me when I tried watercolor for the first time as a kid!
Honestly thought the supplies would be more themed aswell. I like how the bag is subtle and still professional but i was really expecting some limited edition designs on the supplies too
I regret not getting this water color set while I was at the ghibli museum last summer. But I did get a holbein watercolor set at a really cute art store in Kyoto!
My all time favorite movie is Kiki's Delivery Service. I named my childhood dog Kiki. It's not just my favorite Ghibli film either, my All Time Favorite
A year or so ago I went to a local store and bought Pom Poko because I'd never seen it. I was pretty excited. I got it home, I opened the case, and inside..... Was He-Man. I wasn't even mad because it was so funny. But I still haven't seen Pom Poko, I'm hoping to watch it soon! Also, this video was great! I loved the illustrations but most of all you really seemed to be enjoying it and that's great to see. I'm glad you're doing what you want to do Kasey. 😊
Kiki's delivery service has got to be one of my top favs the scene with the artist in that movie and just Kiki growing into who she is really spoke to me growing up and just stuck with me Totoro has a special place in my heart and I adore it to pieces
Growing up my favorite Studio Ghibli movie was "Spirited Away," now it is "Howl's Moving Castle." I think the change came about because of what age the protagonists seem to be. As an child/preteen I identified with Chihiro, but as an adult I see myself more in Sophie. "Castle in the Sky" is also a classic, but scared me a little as a kid and always made me sad for the beings living on the castle.
Castle in the sky: city of laputa is my all time favorite movie A few more that aren't as well know as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service or Ponyo, are Whisper Of The Heart and The Cat Returns they're such good movies and if you haven't seen them PLEASE DO.
"Howl's Moving Castle" , "Spirited Away" and "Totoro" are the only ones I have seeing and I love the three of them. So I will take time and see the others movies. I love the second illustrations is so adorable. 😍😍😍
ive seen two of those, as well astwo others, including ponyo. i highly reccomend you watch that one, as it is my favorite. i hope you enjoy it as much as i do
mochachino! You can typically find some of the BIG dvd collections on eBay for only around 20$ I bought my bf the 12 or 18 collection (can’t remember the number) for only 25$ crazy cheap for so many of the amazing movies :)
From what I could tell it didn’t want you to burn your brush tip just to do it only wanted you to do it for any longer hairs or “popped up” hair. 🤷♀️ It also specified to not over do it, just a tiny amount if needed and only for a split second lol I absolutely love your work by the way!!!
I love the Secret World of Arriety, it was the first Studio Ghibli movie I watched; it’s just so wholesome, and the little teapots and leaves, and the ART! all of it makes me feel happy, and when I’m feeling down, I watch it- it’s a good pastime :)
My absolute favorite studio Ghibli film is the cat returns. I love cats and it’s such a charming modern fairy tale, I’m constantly smiling whenever I watch it.
Your first one was probably my favorite of them all but that is because I have a real fond memmory of that movie! My favourite movie though would be Princess Mononoki.
My favorite movie is probably, Howl's moving castle or just the Grave of fireflies. Idk I mean Howl's moving castle wasn't even that sad. It was beautiful of course, but at the end I cried, so hard, harder than I cried from the grave of fireflies lol. I guess I felt so single, and watching them get together made me feel worse. I also love Spirited away amazing movie. Made me feel single again. Looking forward to watching more ghibli (I had a bet with myself, if I resist watching ghibli movies. So I can watch them in the future for the first time with my s/o. But I got so into it, fell inlove with the CHARACTER and STYLE. I couldn't stop myself) And since my wifi is bad. I might wait a month for it to get back to the better wifi. And download all ghibli movie if I can ;))
Love how the characters turned out in your style! OMG, Ponyo was on theaters in Brazil on July 2010. My husband and I watch it 2 times, we were dating for a month at that time. This movie has a special spot in my heart too
I love ponyo!!! Favorite movie by far I've watch that movie sooooo many times as a kid but i also like my neighbor totoro and Kiki's delivery service oh and of course spirited away
Howls Moving Castle was my favourite. It's left some impact in me and I don't know why.... it's just so beautiful. The first animated movie I've fallen in love with. Apparently people don't like it because it's a copy of spirited away but this is the first Studio Ghibli movie I've seen and I haven't seen any others yet( apart from My Neighbor Totoro)
My favourite is ummmm maybe spirited away, But I also have fond memories of ponyo. I was just out of surgery and the first thing I did was watch ponyo. Ponyo and My neighbour totoro are Like comfort food to me.
Mine is Ponyo, hands down. To be fair I haven't watched really any studio Ghibli movies otherwise, at least not yet, but I grew up watching Ponyo and just have such a fondness for it. I remember going to the Library as a kid and getting so excited when it was in, renting it and watching it over and over, somehow never getting sick of it
Some lesser known movies that deserve a watch are Princess Kaguya and The Secret World of Arriety. I also think that their co production of The Red Turtle was amazing, its more artsy and the characters literally don't speak at all if I remember, but its so beautifully simple. And some oldies but goodies like Laputa, Porco Rosso, Whisper of the Heart, The Castle of Cagliostro all should be given a chance. Honestly just watch all of them, they are so varied, bright and colourful, and sometimes sad and thoughtful. Like these films are leagues above Disney, and I say that as someone who has incredible love and respect for so many Disney films, Ghibli just hits different.
In a documentary, they mention that the studio name is based on an Italian word, but the pronunciation is wrong. It's supposed to be gib-li. But the studio creators stuck with jib-li. It was a translation error XD
theres three different pronunciations and they're all correct! you can go with the original gihblee in Italian, the Japanese jiburi, or the more anglicized (I call it compromise version) jiblee, like how Kasey says it :)
I love studio ghibli movies. They hold such special memories because of my grandma and childhood... I think my favourites are spirited away and howls moving castle
HEY! Hey you... Yes,you. How are you doing in life? What are your dreams... Thoughts.. what is life? Life is a complicated thing... You should enjoy it ☺️ some may not like you,but who are they to judge? You are beautiful, smart, and an awesome being. Just being on earth with you makes me happy 💝🌍 You should calm down, follow your passions and be happy! Passions doesn't mean what the world wants or tells you,no. What YOU want to do. Sleep? Draw? Work? It's up to you! Go do whatever makes your soul fulfilled. Except if it's illegal- then... Mabey not. Take a snack from me 😚🤲☕🍨🍪🍙🌮🍕🍫🍬
I struggled with washes and dull colour for a long time and thought I was just bad at it, but it turns out it was just a paper issue, and if you're using that strathmore you linked to, I would be struggling in the same way for sure. Another thing I have to work on is remembering to switch up the colours constantly, and maybe you would enjoy it too! Liron Yanconsky on youtube has some unique colour tutorials for that!
Hahaha that layer of blue that you used in the first artwork its called an undertone. You used a blue undertone. Normally in paiting we do that to bring all the colours together
I really liked how the textured background looked on the first picture, but I see where you're coming from on it not reflecting your style. I also get how frustrating it is when you don't feel like you have control over your medium even if it turns out ok. I admire anyone able to get watercolor to do anything remotely cooperative lol. I love Ponyo :). Thanks for sharing your art, when I first found you around when you started the 500 prompts you helped me realize my art didn't have to look a specific way to be good and that has really helped me get better and achieve what I want more consistently, So thank you for that :)
The Cat Returns is my personal favorite!!! Also i could tell you really enjoyed drawing these pieces, and your joy comes across in your art. It was very nice and I commend you for being more patient with yourself :') be kind to yourself more often, youre awesome!
Some of my favourites are: Spirited away, Kiki’s delivery service, Totoro, Howls moving castle, When Marnie was there, Ponyo, The moon princess (I forgot her name haha😅) and so many more!! I’m so happy you did this video thank you so much! It’s my birthday today so now I’m even happier! ✨😌✌️
i very much like the fact that most of the written things are in italian!! i knew the creator loved italy so much, in facha the name ghibli was the name of an italian airplane used for the war and idk it feels good to know someone so important loves your culture so much love from italy
I’ve only seen My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away and Grave of the Fireflies. Totoro is probably my favorite, but Grave of the Fireflies emotionally wrecked me.
I have a question Kasey, what's the song in the background of your unboxing? I tried looking in the description, but it's not there. Thanks in advance! (if you see this) Edit: I was wondering about the other songs in this video too (they're all good!)
To me it looks like a mixture of the paper not handling the paint very well and the fact that she used too small of a brush so the paint didn’t flow correctly through the water. Using a bigger flat brush and a better watercolor paper (like a cotton one) would definitely help!
I don't know if this will help you but I use a brand called frog tape. Don't stretch the tape too much when you're sticking it down. Once you have it in place take your finger or even the roll of tape and run it back and forth across it to make sure it's really stuck down. Be extra careful to stick down the corners where the tape overlaps. I sometimes still get little imperfections but 9/10 times this stops any paint getting underneath. 🥰
I love Studio Ghibli Animations.... Their stories are awesome.... And all the movies are unique in its own way........ I personally loved Spirited away and My neighbor totoro... 😁😁😁
Ponyo was my first studio ghibli movie so it holds a very special place in my heart but if I had to pick a favourite it would probably be howls moving castle. I have the most memories of it and it’s the one I have rewatched the most
I absolutely love fan art that is made in the artist's own style, especially when that style is very different from the source material! Great work, as always. :3
