Lt1s (92-97 vintage) sound so good with headers n a good exhaust. Had a 95 1le hard top Z a few years ago 6spd car , was such a blast to drive. Made 478rwhp n 496rwtq N/A on 93 pump gas ran high 10s low 11s all day long .

Eric Weiser mine was an lt1 block 60 over with ported lt4 heads n lt4 intake. Gmpp hot cam kit, 38# injectors, walbro 255 intank, dual 58mm tb , moroso cold air kit (best cai for lt1 f bodies) slp headers, borla adjustable cat back (the best sounding for lt1 f bodies) but expensive i paid $1200 in 2000 for it. My block was converted to 4 bolt mains with splayed caps, as far as tune mine wss a 95 so the ecm had to be sent to hypertech and they sent back with a custom hand held tuner. Car made 478rwhp on a mustang dyno so im pretty sure it would have made almost 500 on a dynojet dyno. The old gen 2 lt1s make great power n tq but are so much more money to build now days compared to an Ls . Ive built several ls motors that made 550-600rwhp in an f body 6spd car but they dont sound as good as a pissed off cammed gen 2 lt1.

@@dirtydracing4254 hey man, unless you missed listing other mods that are considered power adders...there's no way those mods equate to 478rwhp, especially with that small cam. I think that mustang dyno was reading way too high and or your builder/tuner has no idea how to set that dyno up properly or you are flat out making things up.

@@erok3738 it will take quite a setup to get 500rwhp N/A on that motor, big solid roller cam like the one in the car of this vid, big duration, prob 24x/25x range, forged internals because you will have to spin that bitch high, stroking it out to a 383, 385 or 396 would also help, 12:1 compression, prob some nice heads with 200-225cc intake runners at minimum, then you gotta figure out what your gonna do with your ignition because that optispark doesnt like getting spun high while trying to tune it so you need to convert to single coil packs or carb it....etc etc BUT most importantly...find a good tuner first lol If you are keen on keeping the car build a budget 383 stroker or a forged 355 and spray it otherwise choose a different platform

Very similar to my 96 SS. Pulled 460rwhp and tops out at 204!! I have to arrest warrant and fine to prove it. Bitch ass' called in the choppa!

LT-1 is a great motor. I spent countless hrs on this engine. Supercharged is the way to go, I made 525 rwhp with a procharger and a very mild cam. Now these days I just run it N/A. This motor just keeps on running, it will not die. Revs like a mo fo.

Holy smokes, that was 7 months ago. We are much closer in cubic inch these days and cloer in the rpm range too! I'll follow up with the results :) We all win to win, it's just the weak that don't survive.

It's already built and has been running strong and healthy ever since, 20+ years. You'd be suprised at it's performance. And yes the motor being built right has to do with it but weights plays a huge roll between the two, the camaro is stripped and is fiberglass the chevelle is stripped and is steal, that whole 1 sec difference is because of that. And plus my dad knows what he's doing he's had over 30 years of expirence with this stuff, he knows the best combinations for it's purpose.

Sweet car, sweet video. I have an 96 Z28 as well. I had the 383 solid roller cam, 4.10 gears. Great performance. I've since gone to a Front mount T76 Turbo. I love these cars!!!

@Chevyy91 actually more stroke usually means less revs, strokers are uaually for torque, increased conrod angle doesnt like high revs

in the 97 trans am series race they lost because a exaust valve 3/8 stud broke . its 7/16 in the head but goes to 3/8 through the steel stock rocker. he was a mile ahead of the mustang that won . so im thinking 7/16 studs are a worthy upgrade along with roller rockers.

I own a 93 camaro z28 m6. The quarters are metal, the hood is metal, the fiberglass that is on the cars like the doors are pretty heavy. They are not as light as you would expect and long cars. Trust me theres more factors there than weight. I love Chevelles but drag cars no. Original=Beautiful. Its cool tho, you still have a long ways to go. Whatever comes out of it, the best is the time you spent with your dad. Just stay away from fords and your good

Yup, a stock R6 is side by side with a hellcat from 40-150 mph, where the R6 tops out. There is no way this guy is gapping any modern supersport 600 with a halfway decent rider. Still a badass car though, I’ll probably build mine the exact same way.

No there are N/a "slow" blocks on pump gas running 9's...All I said was my dad's chevelle does good for the way it's built. If he wanted a 7 second chevelle he would built one, but all he wanted was a fast enough chevelle to race against his friends, and yes he did beat them every time. And guess what they had more HP...So that just goes to show that his chevelle is tunned and built just right.

I would actually love to learn more about LT1 engines...most of my study is goin towards the GEN III and GEN IV series LS motors but i do know for sure that it doesnt take much to make an LT1 a beast on the street..very nice video and very nice ride.. P.S. if he ran that KB i do believe he would eat it alive..pretty sure i have seen that video and the maro would it it alive..so if anyone has info and time would love to hear more about LT1 engines..course someone that knows about them of course.

It's running slicks...And yes it is dad's car but once I'm older he said I can take his place and drag race the chevelle, i'm not old enough right now. And you only have a 1% of the story, My dad has a #'s matching 1970 chevelle that is all original and is restored to it's beauty. He has a 1971 heavy that yeah is a bad idea but turned it into a drag race car, because back then it was only worth $1500, now it's worth 30k+. He had a 1969 but gave it to me and we are doing a restore.

I assume driving this in a residential area means gas+partial 1st gear shift and then a release of clutch lawl. I'd be scared honestly man... I suppose thats why Right hand turns on Red are illegal in the USA. Here in Canada they are legal, but say you didn't catch that pedesterian and shift into 1st. Ouch.

Lol no it would not, if you forgot i said WEIGHT, and it is a great combination for 535HP most 500+ HP I've see run at the track are slower than my dad's, and the motor is the motor that came with the car back in the 70's isn't numbers matching but is from the 70's so it will not run the performance of ls lt etc. And yeah it's a chevelle you don't put a body kit on it, if it had the aero and the weight of the camaro it would be hittin those times my friend.

a good driver makes a huge difference as well. Reaction times play such a huge role on the track. Also comes into play how well that chevelle is hooking off the line. Weight isnt everything but it does matter. You think that there are no chevelles at all running 10's bc of the weight?
