We’ve all done it Brad. Left things behind. Don’t be kicking yourself. The journey is more important and that you have a fun time. A cold meal and a rough ride isn’t that bad. I really enjoyed seeing AdventureHulk and your trip. The Wagoneer is really cool. Your so lucky to had such a killer vehicle for a few days. Keep safe out there.

Absolutely LOVE this build! Wagoneers we're my introduction to Jeeps and offroading. I've had 5 full size Jeeps, 3 Wagoneers and 2 old Gladiator pickups. While I love my Wranglers, I'm always looking for my next FSJ. Maybe a 2-door Cherokee Chief next time. 🤔😉👍

That would be awesome if you could get more off road builds like that to review. “Trail Recon off road reviews.” It’s always nice to see how others build their off roaders. You can always get some new ideas from other builds like that bumper and swing out tire carrier. Great video 👍. You’re going to have to get a checklist of some sort 😃.

Hey Brad, I ran into you coming out of Sandstone Canyon as you were coming in, last week on Saturday with my stock Tacoma. Thanks for all that you do and your informative videos. My girlfriend and I love watching all of them so please keep them coming. Thanks for showing your humility in forgetting your stove, I forgot my cooking pot last week, so really couldn't cook anything (tried using my water bottle that didn't work out to well). Hope to run into you and the crew out on the trail again.

Loved the review, great mods. In the day though, the power rear window was an option, not standard, except on the version with the fake wood sides. So scour the CA & AZ junkyards, you might find the tailgate you need to get rid off the gremlins.

Ultra cool build. The only negative is that joke of a fuel tank. That's a total SEMA move..

This is a very nice looking jeep I love this Wagoneer jeep I brought that Wagoneer recently I will keep its original look and do some modification with Toyota Land Cruiser as the parts of this Jeep Wagoner are not available in Pakistan.

I love the vehicle everyone has their own style but ya looks awesome ! And don’t sleep on PRP more jeep guys should look into them

I think the key is to develop a sealing check system. When you get home, I’m sure you do a thorough cleaning on your gear and repacking anything that needs to be washed/serviced/etc. Develop a twist-tie or other light seal system to put on the latches of your various boxes and what not, so you can see at a glance that you’ve checked the container the last time it was closed up.

Great video Brad. I think you should try your hand at some home fabrication items for your old Jeep. The hand made shifter dash was cool, maybe make your own mount for console fridge. Hand making stuff for your truck is something I think gets missed a lot these days. Its truly rewarding when you make something yourself, even it’s your own fold down shelf or a bracket or whatever.

That's a very nice build. FSJs are cool and classic. I'm not crazy about the color scheme but I respect the effort that went into this build. I like chrome and I like lights everywhere. If I had unlimited money, I'd take a '88-91 Grand Wagoneer and replace the drivetrain with an LS and a built 6L80. Newer steering gear, maybe air suspension. It would be more of a street-focused build but it would be a comfortable daily driver. Paint it pearl white with new woodgrain and the tan interior.

Would of preferred a 392 Hemi under the hood.

So cool!!! I lOVE my resto-mod truck, sticks out from the pack, that Waggoner is awesome .yes it definitely needs rock sliders, I have used mine a couple of times and they saved the body.(and great peace of mind to have them)😎

As far as vehicles go, I don't think there is anything better than a resto-mod of something that was cool to start.... and an old Wagoneer is great foundation! Love it!

Seems like the 6 L LS should do OK on fuel, maybe just having a lot of fun on the gas pedal or is the Wagoneer really that heavy? my 91 Cherokee 4.0 with an AW4 /slush box gets around 20 mpg on the highway at 55 to 60 mph. (that's on 33" KO2s). With the KO2s the RPMs are about 1300 rpm / 58 mph, is the 4.0 pumping oiling itself enough at that low rpm?

This is the one reason I keep a small pocket rocket in my waist pouch and a ferro rod with fire tinder. just like American express, I never leave home without it and if it is not on my waist, I automatically know it.

Nice Wagoneer! Reminds me of back in the day (1974-1986) when I sold Land Rovers, mostly used with a few grey market vehicles as well. Is this Jeep could to wind up in your stable one of these days???

Wow... that tent reminds me so much of the (Coleman?) backpacking tent my parents bought for me in the 1970's. I know now it was to give them more "privacy" in our '74 VW Westfalia... same area Anza Borrego, super windy,tents blowing up in the air... my little tent still intact as we returned to our campsite. So many good memories out there! Always carry a can of Sterno.😉

Love this vid! I’m a big fan of the classics, but recently took delivery of my 2023 Rivian R1T and there are some creature comforts I don’t think I can live without anymore. If @TrailRecon wants to walk around the Rivian I’d be happy to supply her.

nice , 63-65 wagoneer and 74 -77 2 door cherokee narrow fender are my favs , rode in the back seat of many of them ,wish is still had my 1988 GW . sad what jeep now calls a wagoneer/GW just a name and the taillights kinda look like the orig , test drove the new inline I-6 , drive of a short wb wagon the magic is there will this new inline I-6 go 200,000 k like the old 4.0 ?

Ha ha ha! Oh No!! I thought it was going to turn out to be matches/lighter. The only folks who's never forgot something important on a camping trip, are folks who've never been camping. Glad ya still had coffee. I get a pretty bad caffeine headache if I'm deprived of that.

Yes Brad the centre consul fridge is awesome and I fitted a 15litre consul fridge in my Frankin'Jeep build.

I think doing drives/reviews of other peoples builds is a great idea. I'd liken it to the off-road version of Matt Farrah "smoking tire" reviews. (Logistics might prove to be tricky tho)

I roll with a FSJ group. Wagoneers, Cherokee's and J Trucks. It's always a lot of fun to see people get big smiles when they see these old classics out on the trail.

We’re all human! I bring an alcohol stove as a backup for cooking - it’s tiny, put the fuel in a coke bottle and it’s always there for an emergency to make coffee or heat water for the emergency MountainHouse meal I also bring. Thanks for keeping it real Brad!

needs the 6l80e for better fuel Econ. bjs makes a larger tank. Dakota Digital has gauge clusters for wags that look original but have modern features plugs into obd2

Thanks the for video. Authentic camping trip check. Not many or if any people had a camp cook stove back in 1969, any more advanced than that of a camp fire and a cast iron skillet. Maybe you could have used a cup pour one of those cans in there (or use the can w/top cut off) stuck in the engine compartment next to heat. Place in the sausages in the can or cup. Then fired up the Hulk. Bam cooked meat.

Oh my god you have that tent.. 2 years ago I bought a 8x10 tent to take my grandkids camping and it was sold out. So thay sent me 10 x12 tent an oh my goodness of the extra space we had. Its been all over Mn an N.D Mt Wy an S D an its so simple to set up, and i'M thinking on getting another one, if its not a Kodiak tent don t take it home please thank you..

If you were outfitting a new 2023 jeep compass for some mild adventure what would you want to target from most to least important? I ask because I just ordered one and I'm waiting on delivery from Mexico by easter, a nice laser blue mp latitude with the new engine and all new specs? If you are near L.A. maybe you will see it one day zooming around and making turbo sounds. I want to do a round trip to Montana and back and see everything in a huge loop.

You should change your's over to a reverse shackle, would be excellent for the old school leaf spring overlander, steering\driving on road is amazing

I would have set that coffee cup on the exhaust header and heated it up. There is no way I'm going to drink cold coffee if there isn't some sort of option! Go Navy.

You can slow cook a meal on the intake manifold of many classic engines. I have done it. Hotdogs and sausage wrap'em in tinfoil set it on the manifold, cooked to perfection.

I loved my old wagoner, his name was TED, and he never let me down, sadly the tin worm had its way before i got it and it wasn’t financially viable to try to save it.

Awesome Jeep, but I wouldnt have ruined it by putting a GM engine in it. Nothing against GM, but Id have put a hemi in it instead.

Buttons are transmit for the headset. I've got that setup in my SXS intercoms with radio are a game changer. Love the old jeeps.

Hopefully NVFabs will hook you up on that bumper, it is pretty sweet!

IT WASN'T FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE, BUT IT SEEMED LIKE IT WOULD GO ANYWHERE I WANTED TO GO!!! IT HAD A FORD 302 V8 ENGINE IN IT!!! I ALSO HAD FOR MANY YEARS A DODGE POWER WAGON WITH A 360 V8 IN IT!!!!! I LIVED AND WORKED IN THE HIGH DESERT OF CALIFORNIA BACK THEN AND THAT POWER WAGON WAS THE PERFECT VEHICLE FOR THAT AREA!!!!! I EVEN PULL OUT A COUPLE OF STUCK JEEPS WITH IT!!! I really like these old Cherokees and Wagoneers. Bigger than the older Broncos and Blazers, the Wagoneer especially as a 4 door.

If you had some tin foil, you could warm them on the engine/exhaust.
