The YN55 movement in the San Martin is not a Chinese clone of the ETA2824. The YN is a Japanese movement manufactured by Epson. My understanding is that YN movements are the commercial available equivalents to the Epson movement within Orient watches (similar to how the NH3X movements produced by Seiko are the commercially available equivalents to the 4R movements found inside Seiko watches). The YN beats at 21,600 and not 28,800 like the ETA 2824. Perhaps you were thinking of the PT-5000?

I had no idea! The hands move forward when you turn the crown counterclockwise like an eta, so that's why I thought it was that and not a Seiko clone.

This is a really interesting take. I love the details when concentrating on them but my abiding memory of any watch is the overall experience, currently have a thing for San Martin which seems to hover between value and quality without necessarily compromising either. Mind you that Traska is fantastic.

I think the Epson YN55 in the San Martin is an unbranded Orient F6922 so is probably more like the NH35 than a ETA 2824 clone. Really enjoy all of your reviews.

Absolutely agree with you there Pete. One of my top favorite watches is a cheap Casio. Thank's for making a video like this! Especially what you said about the watch investors.

Great video, super interesting comparison! I think that the bevelled dial and rhodium plated hands & indices on the Seals are some details that elevate it over the other watches on the table (although the bracelet does feel like an afterthought). Another reason for the higher price on the Seals and the Traska might be that they're American companies with higher labor costs, even though their watch parts are manufactured in Asia. I'm loving that San Martin with the 3-6-9 explorer dial...I need to get one of those LOL

There are other things I should have gotten into, because despite the butterfly (lol) that seals bracelet finishing is next level! The lug to end link connection does feel a bit like an afterthought tho!

I mentioned at the end I didn't want this to be about investing, but that's a valid concern for flippers. I think all these would be around your standard 80% anyway.
