I remember watching this programme in the 60s as a kid when it was black and white, and with Isabel Barnett always on the show. I also remember it in colour later with Jilly Cooper, but I had forgotten how long it ran for. This is from 1989 and I was out most of the time in those days, and never knew the lovely Angela Rippon had even hosted this. Thanks for posting.
I don't know what it was about Angela Rippon, but I could never take to her voice. Whenever she came on TV I would turn over right away. But you will be glad to know I loved the series What's My Line?. So I watched the whole programme 😊
I have been watching the shows in the US for months, so this is a treat. The applause gets annoying, but otherwise the program is wonderful. I hope to see more of these.
Philip Elsmore (God Emperor at Thames Television) trails "Tell the Truth" over the end credits. Another show from the Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions stable (an adaptation of "To Tell the Truth") that like so many, "Family Fortunes" and "Blankety Blank" aside, didn't really have any longevity here. Even "Password" failed to catch on, despite the best efforts of ATV, the BBC, Thames and Ulster!
I am quite surprised that the clapping seals failed to clap when 20 seconds actually went by and they did not applaud when that gnat flew past the camera.
