I loaded the new version last night, but have been running the test version for about a month. It does offer some improvements and will be testing it. I like the fact that Prusa continues to improve the firmware and making big improvements.
This update is game changing on the XL due to phase stepping. The motor noise went from being audible accross the house to quieter than the toolhead fans.
"Stuck filament detection" is perhaps the worst name for a feature ever, since the release notes clearly states that it DOES NOT detect stuck filament - as you proved.
I have a mk3 which I'm not that keen on selling, and I want a printer that I can have turned on whilst watching TV or working on my computer about one or two meters away, which is a shame as that seems to throw the x1c out. So I thought I might begrudgingly upgrade to mk4, it's a couple hundred cheaper. My only problem with my mk3 and I'm not sure if they all have this, is if you print a big square that covers the print bed, the printed piece comes out a bit bowed. I just watched your previous video on the mk4, would you highly recommend against upgrading to mk4?
@@marcel151 The hardware isn’t that much of a problem, accel pins on the board are compatible with any of the shelf SPI accelerometers (and if they want first party solution in the future a revised hotend daughter board with accelerometer would be enough). It works right now on MK4, but not the best as it uses code for XL. Josef said on reddit that they’re working on it tho!
I really like using the touch screen. It also shows cool stats like time remaining to filament switch. But when I updated all of my preview pictures stopped showing up. on screen Anyone know how to fix this?
