Tony Snell might be a name that you probably won't remember as a standout NBA legend, but you will surely remember how despite playing 601 NBA games in a 9-year span, he was unable to qualify for medical insurance under NBA's healthcare policies, and he is now left defense-less to secure proper healthcare for this 2 sons, both of whom, along with himself, have been found to be on the autistic spectrum.
So what's next for Tony Snell and his autistic sons? Well, he was aiming to secure a contract from any NBA franchise that would tie him to that franchise till the end of this season so that he would qualify under NBA's policies for personal and family healthcare. Now that the February 2 deadline has passed, what's next for Tony Snell? Has the NBA failed him? Or would it be wrong on their part to help out a player who may or may not be able to justify the bets and risks taken on him?
Tony Snell didn't receive an NBA contract this season, so what should, or can he do next? Watch our video and have your say in the comments below!

Not only that but he went his whole life without knowing he was autistic. One of my best friends is autistic, and unless the person has a severe case it doesn't really need any special treatment

Been a fan of Tony ever since he was drafted to my Bulls in 2013. I know there are plenty of teams that could use his services. ♥

As a person on the spectrum like Tony and his sons, this is a tricky situation. Now that this was brought up in the media, a team that will sign him will be accused of being a charity organization. This could set a new precedent.

So many ppl go thru this on the daily..... thousands of ppl in this world have this same struggle or worse. One big difference is those ppl didn't earn $50 million in their career and still have the audacity to cry and complain about your struggle. Maybe plan ahead.... maybe get a different job... play overseas.... man up and figure it out. The sad story is the 9-5 blue collar workers who have multiple kids with health issues and they were behind the 8 ball from the jump. Embarrassing

I mean I hope he can get the health insurance cause I feel like he’s played enough to deserve it even though it’s not officially 10 years. However if he can’t get the insurance he definitely has made enough money to support his family. There are family’s everywhere who don’t have anything close to his net worth who have the same problem and don’t get any support. I’d find it hard to believe he doesn’t have any other assets other than his salary, Assets that can support his own health insurance. I wish him the best and hope he gets the insurance from the NBA but if he doesn’t I’m sure he’ll end up fine.

Testing for autism seems like a lose, lose situation after playing in the nba for 9 years.

Get the angle he's going with and to be honest there's no reason a team couldn't sign him for a few days so he could qualify, HOWEVER he's made around 50m in his career. his seeming lack of money management shouldn't fall back onto the league or the teams to make things right for him. look at the lavish home he's in in those clips. how bout a downsize so that they can afford to take care of the other boys?

even if he pays 50% of it in tax, which he doesn't, that's still 25m left over roughly, still generational wealth if you spend it feasibly@@bballcoachallen

Funny enough I just saw a clip of his wifef on a PRIVATE JET with a buncha birkin bags and all kinds of lavish nonsense. she was on basketball wives of orlando and was casted in other shows as well. so Tony is a blasted fool and letting this woman force him to beg for scraps cause he won't put his damn foot down and tell her to quit wasting his money. screw that shit, I wouldn't sign him@@bballcoachallen

I do not get what The Bulls were thinking , They did nothing during trade deadline and they should have just signed him to gain some good karma. I really do think if The Bucks were not such a mess roster wise right now they would have signed him for the year.

Someone else in the comments said that the NBA used to have a promo or a slogan that said NBA cares I want to give credit where it's due first and foremost I remember the commercials they ran and the spots they filled during timeouts this just shows the NBA cares about revenue not it's asset's the commissioner should've stepped up and honored or should I say showed the past present and future players the NBA takes care their own but they literally dropped the proverbial ball on this one but they'll give a kid who hasn't played as long as him yet 350 M's who's probably never played as many games in a single season as him I caring is but at the same time isn't sharing 🤦🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️👎🏾

Autism does not make you incapable. In fact it could make you more capable than others. Tired of people acting like autism is such a bad thing. His boys will be fine regardless. Other than that, dude made millions back in the day. Hilarious
