RACE 07 is now more than 15 years old - more than half my age. I used to play it a lot ages ago. But what is it like to play now, in 2023? Join us on Discord: / discord
It holds up very well. Just started playing it again a couple of weeks ago and it is a LOT of fun. Awesome sounds, raceable AI and good handling with ffb that communicates well with my Simucube 2 Pro.
I let Race 07 installed to make a series of video reviews of it and for its ffb that I consider to be the best car feel still today. Its amazing, cause you dont have to take hours to test and tweek it. Once you set the strenght you are redy to go and it communicate so well. What modern sim do you compare to it? Ive bein trying a lot of title and even with ac or rf2 I cant feel the same ffb responsiveness.
@@thegrigs try AMS 1. FFB and track surface physics just on next level, it's also has better color gamma and graphics overall and some laser scanned tracks (brands hatch, imola, oulton park, spielberg). But race07 is very good game for it's time.
I always loved the little stuff in Race '07, like in multiplayer when you could roll out of the garage to your buddy's garage and he can see you waiting. Doing burnouts and doughnuts while you're waiting for him to tune his car....lol. Handling in this game was way ahead of its time, probably better than most today really. Old muscle cars were totally predictable and you could really throw 'em around just like the real thing.
I just reinstalled this game (and DLCs) last week. The only two really drawbacks are the FFB (there were a drive.. "Leo's FFB" if not wrong, but couldn't find it) and the menus (that are horrible). For single playing, it still is amazing (better than ACC and AMS2, anyway). Had played a lot of it back in the day, but only online and with the Formula BMW. After some time, found it not so good for MP (bad netcode and a sht aero/suspension exploit that is inherent from this engine and still persist even with rF2), but didn't experienced the singleplayer until now.
Still holds up well today. They removed the multi-player server, so to play against others you'll need to setup a VPN network of some sort. There is nothing wrong with Race07, and they should have kept the multi-player server online..
Don’t suppose you’ve had success in setting up via vpn? I’m having trouble with a friend crashing upon connecting to my server and we can’t find anything anywhere to help :(
@@garagemischief Hello. I've fettled with a VPN tool called Radmin, which seems to work, is very simnple to use and setup. I'm happy to help you test, feel free to lemme know! I'm un the UK so weekday evenings or weekend..
@01:40 Race Pro on the back of the car. 😎 Race Pro being the Xbox 360 version of this game... The handling and racing of the console version is just as superb as it ever was for both control pad and wheel play. The DLC is still available at the time of posting, however the Xbox 360 store closes around June/July 2024.
