Banjo-Kazooie is one of my favorite games of all time, easily within my top 5, perhaps even top 3! Which is why it's annoying to see, every once in a while, some knob on Twitter or some place insist that Banjo-Kazooie wasn't all that good to begin with and was severely overhyped by Millennials or "gaming boomers" (and sometimes not even Gen Z say nonsense like this); in particularly they LOVE to compare Banjo-Kazooie's success to Croc's back in the day, with the implication that there's a reason why they're both not around anymore and it's the same reason for both of them. It's such nonsense, not only because if you compare the sequels to both of these games, Banjo-Tooie was way more successful than Croc 2; that, coupled with the fact that people are STILL talking about Banjo-Kazooie while Croc is barely a blip on anyone's radar, suggests there was something inherently good about Banjo-Kazooie as a game that Croc lacked. Indeed there are a lot of good things about Banjo-Kazooie's design and presentation, so much so that it continues to be used and replicated in many 3D collectathon platformers to this day, even in games like Super Mario Odyssey! No, I definitely feel confident in saying that Banjo-Kazooie was, in fact, a great game, and it's not just nostalgia talking. (I tend to play Banjo-Kazooie every year to remind myself of how good it is, even)
