Hi Scott, great post. On the thing about having an overdrive with a blend control. Back in my gigging days for a while I used a Stereo chorus pedal with the option of two output jacks for left and right. I used two backline amps (not exactly stereo because one stood on top of the other) my overdrive was after the chorus pedal so only went to one of the amps so you could blend it by having a volume pedal next in the chain there was also a delay pedal in there so I could pile on some long delays but mix it with a relatively dry sound with just a touch of reverb a bit clunky but it did work. Later on I invested in a Roland guitar synth so all that two amp stuff got left behind. It got to the point where there were just too many gadgets to set up.
They should have cut that at 8k....big mistake...it would have had the vintage warmth but more clarity......or make a 8k momo mix...unit....this can work for master bus..if you pre eq for the 2k cut to save clarity.....
I know what you mean John and that’s what we discussed too - I would have preferred a switchable 2k / 4 / 8k etc roll off. It’s still a great unit and for the money, it’s a well built, useable box.
Off topic but the idea of Brits singing with American accents makes me so sad. That’s like being given a brand new Ferrari and wanting to make an even trade for a 25 year old Honda with 250,000 miles on it.
