Thanks for watching Phil! Have been using these as my daily driver for several days now and enjoying them a lot (wearing them this exact second!), they are incredibly comfortable over long periods. Strongly agree on RODE durability as an owner of many of their products. Having visited the RODE factory personally it's true that they do extensive durability tests, combined with the fact that they manufacture in house it means you get something with very strict quality control and built to last. Not folding down limits their usefulness (maybe even lifespan) for people on the move, e.g. DJs and videographers. Should be right as rain in the studio, though. Also, remember the days when pro headphones had a 6.5 mm plug as standard with a 3.5mm adapter
Definitely a hard case accessory would be a nice option for those who travel a lot, although as mentioned you get a pouch to help protect against dust or scratches, the cable is easily detachable, and they do feel very solid indeed.
@@Gear4musicSynthsTech It’s the size, too. My M50x are ⅔ of full-size when folded. If they’re in a soft case/bag, being folded protects the dangly bits.

They are rubbish. They break VERY EASY at the opposite side of the twist lock. Until they change that stupid design, don’t buy these headphones! I’m not the only one this has happened too either. 😠

So, after watching this video, I thought I'd take a punt and buy a set from you guys (G4M). I don't usually follow up on social media, but these are so bad, I just had to say something! Firstly, they are not comfortable (I didn't think).. The sound quality.. (okay, i compared them to my AKG 660's which I know are a lot more expensive) but here they compare to AKG650's which are also high end phones, and what I heard wasn't comparable in all respects! Audio quality was "Dull" and lacked any type of warmth.. I did the test coming out of my UA Apollo X and audio was direct from Logic... I m sure they would be okay for podcasting, but for music production (in my opinion) these are not for me.. Sorry G4M, these are coming back...!

There is a lot of variance in individual units unfortunately. It's basically a lottery on these things. Sad because when they're good, they seem to be really good.
We haven't been provided official frequency response charts, but reviewer Curtis Judd posted a great review recently where he actually did some frequency response measurements! In them you can see the NTH-100's compared to other popular headphones. To the best of our knowledge he used an Earthworks microphone (which is to say a VERY accurate reference mic), testing pink noise played back through the headphones. @@Gear4musicSynthsTech thanks. That’s a channel I never miss to check before any other. Curtis’s review must be heard in its entirety. He terms the sound from the Rode NTH-100 as “veiled”. I have done extensive listening on my end, and from an individual perspective don’t find it useful for audio/vocal/singing monitoring purposes. The bleed is a tad more than expected from a closed back too. Again, it is very comfortable for longer periods of time. I shall be returning mine today with some disappointment.
