I love budget supercars from years ago! These older modern classics are just so much fun and luckily on the affordable side when you're talking about supercar pricing. So today lets check out the two best budget supercars out there! The Lamborghini Gallardo and Mclaren 12C! The Gallardo is the old school supercar here with technology from early 2000's and a single clutch transmission. The Mclaren 12C came out nearly a decade later and has a lot more technology and a twin clutch transmission. Both of these cars can be bought for around $130k to $140k and offer a completely different driving dynamic. I would go with the 12C - it’s a timeless design with carbon tub, F1 chasis and much better tech. Now with McMedics being the best 3rd party option for maintenance it’s an astonishing value and a true exotic. The Gallardo does sound much better but also screams Look At Me Officer! All that said, a video comparing these to your GTR, a C8 and Evora would be great!

Yeah the 12c was fun! Just sold my GTR. Looking to by a Gallardo now. Reliability scares me on the 12C. However maybe a 570S one day would be something I'd buy. But for now I wan the Gallardo and then I'll probably go to a Huracan after that. Can't beat Lambo reliability and the V10

@@BrosFOURRSpeed mp4 reliability problems are way overblown, plus you can still get a bumper to bumper warranty on the car from mclaren. Very well worth it.

@@curveofsound Oh that’s cool. I’d still go 570 tho. Has much more character and I enjoyed it a lot! I’ve heard much better things with reliability of the 570 and same on the warranty which is cool

@@XFXBoard cool option too. I’d probably still go 570 since it’s newer and a bit more simple to maintain. But I bought a 2014 Gallardo. Love it!

Having owned both a 12C (2012) and a Gallardo (2005), the 12C is in almost every way an objectively better car. Obviously it's much more modern, so it has that advantage. It handles better, is much much faster, is less finicky. You have to drive Gallardos in a very specific way to not cause problems over the long term. Don't get me wrong, the Gallardo is a beautiful design all around, but from an ownership perspective, the 12C is a more enjoyable experience in my opinion.

Yeah for sure. McLaren is definitely better. Aside from reliability. I just bought a 2014 LP550-2. Absolutely love it! The character of how it drives sold me. With my GTR, I've already has a super fast car. So the G is just so perfect since it is so unique. Love the old school feeling and how it sounds

@@BrosFOURRSpeed that was exactly why I bought my Gallardo haha. The raw, classic Lamborghini feel is just something you can’t get anywhere else. And the sounds of those engines (I had the 5.0 instead of the 5.2) is just incredible!

The best choice is the one that you want, I personally like the Lamborghini more than the McLaren even though the former is faster. The style of the Lambo never gets old for me, always beautiful!

@@BrosFOURRSpeed The Lambo has it's bad points too, like the clutch on that one in the video needing replacement after approximately every 20K miles in addition to 7 oil drain bolts. If you are okay with all of that then you are ready to own one for sure.

Oil bolts I'm not worried about. Same oil change as my brothers R8. The second gen Gallardo has a much better clutch compared to the first gen. But I plan to get a lower mileage car, and it should last about 40k miles to be honest

I forgot to add if I had the choice between the McLaren 12 C and the Lamborghini Gallardo I would choose the Gallardo due to the fact that Lamborghini has proven it can hold up and especially with the Revise engine which was change from a 5 liter to the 5.2 liter V10 in the 2009 you can’t lose and the car is pretty much bulletproof just make sure you drive in manual so make the clutch life last longer

I overall prefer McLaren to Lamborghini in the newer models (driven both plenty of times, even today). But I am not a fan of the 12C and would gladly pick the lambo in this comparison.

Yeah the McLaren are pretty cool. I do like the blend they offer and how good they are. Just reliability is a bit on the poor side. I like working on my cars myself and Lambos are very easy to work on and don't brake down. So thats my biggest reason to go towards the Lambo

Gated manual option. HUGE power potential by adding supercharger or turbos, and the 5.2 is nearly bullet proof. It will let you know you’re riding a bull, not a sterile experience. Lambo for the win.

Yeah technically. I always forget about the 650. 570 became the new budget McLaren tho as the 650 got more expensive.

The McLaren is a fun and good modern supercar you can but as far as reliability with McLaren on some of their models is kind of questionable but here’s and interesting fact that the motor doesn’t inside the 12 seat it’s also was used in the McLaren P1

I don't fit well in the Spider. It takes away about an inch of headroom and almost 2 inches of room for the seat to slide back. My head touches the ceiling and my legs are way too bent.

It's a fun car! I recently checked out the 570S vs the Gallardo and GT4. Ended up buying a 2014 Gallardo! Really liked the 570S, but the reliability and maintenance just seemed like a big un known

Thanks! I'd love a McLaren at some point. Feel like I need to learn more about them and what it takes to own one. The Lambo is a simple Audi underneath lol. But has all the excitement. Maybe a McLaren will find its way to me. They are a blast!

650s is the replacement for the 12c, 570 is not a replacement for the 12c

Technically. However the 570S came in closer to the price point of what the 12c was. At this point the 650s and 570s cost the same on the used market. 570s is a more modern and reliable car. So I'd go 570 all day for that reason

My 2013 12c coupe msrp was 294k. & there are many with a much higher price. My 650s msrp was 310. My 720s launch edition msrp is 345k. 570 is nowhere near 290k sticker. Again I own the cars & you google them. There is a difference.

@@KingKenKen You do realize I’m talking about the used car market right? A 12c can be bought for about $110k right now. A 570s can be bought in the $130k range. The 650s is also going for the $130k range. I’m not talking about when these were all brand new. Didn’t you realize I was filming pre owned cars? Regardless, currently looking to buy a Gallardo or something similar in price. And both the Gallardo and 570S are going for around $135k on the used market. No need to be so defensive. However original base MSRP on the 12C was $239k. 650s was $269k and 570s was $192k. So pretty even spread Not that any of that is relevant to this video. I’m driving two used cars that cost about $120k with mileage and age.

McLarens are just bad buys. They are notoriously unreliable and I'm not a fan of the interiors. The newer Lambo's feel to Audi-like for me. I like the idea of an Aventador but it's way out of my price range and too flashy. The Gallardo sounds cool and I've loved that car since high school but it feels so slow compared to my modded GTR and the prices have shot up through the roof. It is a timeless car however and will always look great. However now I'm thinking that I'll just get a 458 Spyder instead. Decisions, decisions...

Yeah I do love the 458 a lot! I feel like that would be the perfect car after I tick the box of the Gallardo. Much quicker and more modern but with all the good fun.
