Had my very first Chicago Dog ever from a concession stand at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Had to wait in a long line to get it, but I was determined to try one. As soon as I finished it, I got right back in that same line for a 2nd one. SO GOOD.

Being from Chicago, I love the Chicago hotdog. Not only because it is delicious, but because of it's history. The Chicago hotdog was created during the Great Depression. It included ingredients that was cheap and filling. It was a affordable meal for a nickel at the time and an ample meal. The Chicago hotdog is also apart of our history 😊

I'm from Michigan, so I grew up on Coneys. If you ever come to Detroit, try Lafayette (Or American, or both) That would be an ultimate taste test as they are both next door to each other. I agree with the other comments, not a lot of coneys use cheese. It's chili, mustard and onions and the hot dogs here have a snap. Come to town and try it, trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Smalls Nonya yes but did they actually try a real coney dog? A true coney’s from Michigan are made using Kogel Vienna hot dogs. Plus the majority are made with liquid cheese not shredded. Unlike the other dogs it does not look like they put much effort in creating their coney dog.

Alejandro Pelayo never heard anything more true in my life and now that Portillo’s is moving to other locations like Gurnee all around Illinois it really just shows the unbelievable taste of a Chicago style hot dog and how famous they truly are.

From someone who lives in Seattle, you did it WRONG. Cream cheese, and onions are the core components. The split in half thing is completely wrong, grill cabbage is completely wrong, the jalapenos is optional and the sauces are also optional. EDIT: I prefer cream cheese, grilled onions, and Franks red hot sauce.

Excellent clip, but the Chicago is a Great Depression meal that fills. I dont care for tomato but it works here as a brick in the house. Try putting the celery salt directly on the tomato and try again. Cheers, fellows!

I lived in Chile for a few years where they eat a lot of hot dogs. The most popular/typical is called the Italian (looks like an Italian flag) it is a hot dog usually with a toasted bun, topped with diced tomatoes, a large helping of mashed avacado and a large stripe of mayonnaise. Loved the things, especially with mustard and hot sauce.

I'm pretty sure "Flint Style" is more of a just meat & tomatoey sauce where as "Detroit Style" is more like a classic chilli. They're both delicious though! haha
