This was such a great breakdown. I think you make great points about Falcona and Winter Soldier: such odd pacing between the newer, softer discussions and the arguably boring action scenes with a storyline that just BARELY doesn't live up to its potential. Also, A+ Action Man reference. Literally the perfect summation of misogyny in the toys I was given as a child.

That is genuinely a great breakdown. Love how compare FATWS and Wandavision with walking through the tou store between the boy's toys and girls toys aisle. Great analogy.

Love your breakdown! Spot on! Wanda Vision was enjoyable and kept me engaged. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was a little half-baked, but the relationship between our heroes was nice to see play out. Loki was just confusing as hell. I wanted to love the Loki series but didn't at all.

I enjoyed all 3 shows for different reasons and in different ways. 1. WandaVision was wonderfully experimental and the style was fantastic. As you mentioned, though, MCU fans had to figure out the balance between enjoying what they got, and getting their hopes too high due to rampant theorizing in the community. 2. Falcon & Winter Soldier felt most like classic MCU action movie. It touched on some excellent themes that really felt like a natural progression of the characters more than the other 2 shows. 3. Loki was phenomenal the first 2 episodes, with excellent character growth for Loki. But then Loki became a generic protagonist, and lost all his quirky charm. When in a room with other Lokis, he didn't at all attempt to out-Loki them, so I felt a little disappointed. This show, though, really gave us a taste of the multiversal tone we'll be dealing with in Phase 4, and I still enjoyed it very much. Ultimately, though, all 3 actively felt like their real purpose was to get the characters from where we left them in Endgame to where we'll pick them up in Phase 4, and the fact that that was so clearly a driving factor of each show detracted from the experience for me.

These are all great points and I totally agree about the way it started to feel more like they were moving the pieces into position than really concentrating on the shows telling amazing stories themselves. That's why the strongest stuff wasn't necessarily the stuff that moved the greater MCU plot forward. I think that's part of why I liked WV so much. It felt the most like it was telling its own story than setting up the next phase.

I loved WandaVision for the love that went into the idea but thought that it lacked a certain staying power - I don't know how much I'll rewatch it now that I've got its basic plot in me. We'll see! I enjoyed F&tWS just to see what was going to happen in the future of the MCU as far as the 'group' of Avengers was concerned. However, it's weird that the most grounded of the three MCU D+ shows also ended up being one of the most campy-feeling things in the MCU thanks to its clunky villains. But I'm excited for what's next! Loki was enjoyable and probably my favourite, purely for enjoyability and ease of viewing. (WV, we were all looking out for something, F&tWS I was just checking on how they turned Falcon into Cap, but for Loki, I think we were just along for the ride and seeing what this show was about). As easy and fun as it was to watch, though, I feel like the narrative wasn't so..... great. As a backdoor pilot to the upcoming phase and just getting six hours of Loki's characterisation malarkey, I loved it. All three have their plus points and I'm not sure I want to rank them best to worst or worst to best because they're different animals. Loved your breakdown, too! Seems like we're on relatively the same page :D

Thanks so much! The whole "going along for the ride" thing was so true for the later shows, for me. I think everyone spent so much of WV looking for clues that we didn't pay as much attention to all the storytelling happening. For Loki, people seemed more willing to sit back and watch, but the story wasn't as strong.

Loki! Loki was the best! In my opinion, it had everything I wanted. Time travel (a bit), comedy, Hiddleston etc. Great video, I’ve only just found you!

Loki was the second strongest for me, but there were a few times where it just felt like something was missing-like they had an idea, but then they weren't quite able to really solidify it. But Hiddleston was excellent and I loved Owen Wilson too.

@@trashwire Maybe because they knew they were going to get a second season? To be honest I jumped the gun on commenting. I really enjoyed WandaVision. That and Loki are probably tied for me because I prefer the madness to the gritty spy stuff.

The second season thing is totally new for these shows, so I think that was a big part of it for me. I’m guessing they’ll flesh out some of those gaps in later episodes.

I think between Loki and WandaVision, WV pulled off the character-driven story the best while Loki did a much better job of having a mystery worth investigating.

That’s a good way of putting it. I think for me, the deeper character stuff was more satisfying than the unfolding mystery about the next phase of the MCU, but I can see where people would love that mystery in Loki.
