Great review guys, but if you know little Mahabharat before you watch this movie you understand in whole different way and you will decode million Easter eggs that director Nag Ashwin put in every frame
Try to read mahabharata it is not about gods there is only krishna/Vasudev who is considered God at that time and he too was grounded for most part of mahabharata
story plot has so many chapters, but that's the curiosity we we have, story plot he takes from mahabharat, so we hope he will bring some from mahabharat
@@trashwire great 👍 also I recommend some great Indian movies Andhadhun best mystery movie Tumbbad best psychological horror 3 idiots and Pk best comedy
Never in my life imagined west would be discussing our cinema the way we had Star Wars , MCU, DC discussions 😊 The jokes in first half - references to Prabhas’s previous movies and his real life personality. So only telugu audience would know that, not even Hindi audience .
This particular story is only for two parts... There is no third part, at least not yet... Director has confirmed it... Which is good because he doesn't have to waste time to stretch the movie pacing
Except Vijay Deverakonda (Arjuna) and Dulquer Salman (Captain who adopted Bhairava), cameos were not supposed to make sense... They were just for fun... This director does that in his movies... Even in Mahanati, which is one of the all time classics, there were a dozen cameos.
Nag Ashwin confirmed that this story will end in Part 2. He doesn't have any plans for more parts but said there is a potential for spin-offs with few characters taken up by some other director.
Movies like Kill, John Wick, etc are not how actual fights go. If you know how to fight, these movies are a comedy, seeing two or more people dance & wait for the blows. These fights do not seem real because we can see the people wait for the blows, breaking the immersion.
Yo guys This aint Mythology. There aint any proof to prove that it is Mythology. Calling it such was started by unscientific Christian administrators of British ruled India, who could not digrst the history of the country because it disnt match with the Bible. So are peddleing the same colonial Christian narrative if you are calling this mythology. It is utterly unscientific and deeply insesnsitive to Hindus. So go at it. But you have been warned.
I definitely think that for those with a little context about the Mahabharata and the Dashavatars the experience is elevated. Karna in the Mahabharat is the hero that never was. He ended up fighting for the Kauravas (antagonists) even though he had all the makings of a hero (kinda like Bhairava). It’s awesome to see characters like Ashwatthama and Karna get a chance to complete their story arcs in the modern day. Unpopular opinion: I quite enjoyed the first half even though it was a bit slow. I think they probably could’ve edited it better and removed some parts (for TikTok short form generation like us) but I’m glad they took the time to show us the world. Plus the jokes for the average English viewer went through 3 levels of translations. Telugu -> Hindi dub -> English subs, that doesn’t even account for cultural differences between those three audiences lol. So it makes sense why the jokes didn’t necessarily work. In Telugu it worked more often than not from my experience. The presentation is obviously not gonna match the level of RRR, atleast not yet. It is Nagi’s 3rd movie after all and he’s not even an action director. But conceptually this movie is brilliant. And if it convinces Rajamoulli to make the Mahabharat on the big screen a reality even more so!
That’s a really good point about it being so early in Nagi’s career. I think this movie shows enormous potential. I really liked Mahanati and after seeing this, I’ll definitely watch anything he makes
sir, you should read more about Karna If there was a hero who had to fight on Kaurava’s side and also got blamed that he isn’t fighting with all his might - he is Bheeshma pithamaha Karna is the reason many time Dhuryodhana proceeded to do what he did . People are attracted to negative characters for sometime now, but let’s not try to give them forced positive angle. Krishna was also abandoned by parents ( for whatever reason ) he was called after all thuch gopal, he was also rightful heir for kingdom, had to continuously fight rakshas - but he didn’t choose the wrong side . We can learn a lot from the characters 👍
@@UjwalRam I encourage you read about karna too, seems like you will also benefit. There is room for more than one grey character in a story, our epics are filled with grey. There is no forced positive angle, karnas story is absolutely tragic in the Mahabharat. Not sure which interpretation you are drawing your conclusions from. Not everything has to be black and white.
@@lolmaker there are well learned pravachanakarthas who guide us with Vyasa Mahabharatham That’s what we read and for skushma dharma sandeh their 54 day almost 100 hour pravachanams help us understand That is the way itihasas should be understood , paarayanam ( reading on your own ) and pravachanam 🙏🏽 . That is when doubts cleared sir. Otherwise I also believed Dana Veera Sura Karna angle. It’s not like Pandavas always had only comforts - they were always in ajnyatha Vasam after LakkaGruha dahanam till Draupathi parinayam Even after that they were sent vanavas and ajnyatha vasam again Since you are well read I think you know very well, they were always struggling and not had comforts like Karna who is a king and has his own huge family. Karna, like many others is skilled but we can never place him as an unfortunate hero as he knows what he is doing like he explained to his saradhi Shalya in his own words. If we have to believe someone it has to be Vyasa Maharshi - he explained clearly each character and who is the actual villain of this epic ( Dhrutharashtra) and hero ( Sri Krishna ) 🙏🏽 If you don’t want to take Veda Vyasa Mahabharatham as the original then we shouldn’t even bother with any discussion as the rest are different perspectives of different people .
As an Indian, the first half was slow but the 2nd half was totally opposite. I like the fact that Indian cinema is doing something different than usual...Some Indian movies also have sci-fi elements but it's totally new compared to those ones Loved SSR's over the top acting there😂 Oh man You should checkout the movie namely Vikram(grounded action) and 3idiots(best comedy) and Om Shanti Om(film history of Bollywood starring SRK and Deepika)
call it Telugu Cinema for the love of god. all these -ollywood nicknames make these amazing industries sound like knock-offs of Hollywood and they originate from colonial mentalities because names like Bollywood were given by western journalists when India was under British rule. Does Korea call their cinema Korollywood? is Russia’s Rollywood? Not to mention Tollywood is already a nickname for Bengali Cinema too. Plus Kill is a Hindi movie, not even Telugu
I believe will improve heck lot in upcoming parts...As for starting, It was .... Idk what should I say, "Good enough to start out?", But I must say, this movie has shown me that it will only improve from now on....
Kalki 2898 AD is the pride of Indian Cinema and Telugu Cinema. One word review: MINDBLOWING. Do not miss it at any cost. I hope Kalki surpasses every Indian movie produced so far including RRR and becomes the most successful Indian film. Absolutely mindblowing except some unnecessary cringe masala and cringe comedy with Bhairava in the first half. Kamal Haasan part is pure horror. The way they have imagined landscapes, environments, weapons, vehicles, powers, Mahabharata scenes is truly exceptional and spectacular. My one suggestion to Nag Ashwin is to explore the Complex society and the outside world more in depth because on the surface it looks like everyone is doing well enough even though they are starving for food, water, clean oxygen and they have just stuck some neon signs randomly on Indian alleyways and streets because that's how cyberpunk movies do it. Anyone who says it is merely a copy of Star Wars, Dune, Mad Max, MCU deserve to drink Kali's tears lol. Excited for Kalki 2 more than I ever was for Brahmastra 2. Prabhas and Deepika Padukone are good but Amitabh Bachchan is the MVP. Wow. Disha Patani's part is simply waste. Roxxie could have still been used to show Bhairava the luxuries and abundance of the Complex without that cringe song. Also, unnecessary writing mistakes like superhuman Ashwatthama suddenly not being able to lift Sumathi up should not happen. I wish they would give Shree Krishna better look. No yellow angavastram or armor or jewels or mukut. Just a white cloth and a head band makes him look like a Greek hero. Personally I would have loved to see Shree Krishna blue instead of fair-skinned or dark-skinned because that's how we all grew up watching him in all images. I wish they worked on young Ashwatthama's face better because it is honestly bad, looking like a video game character whenever he spoke with large Disney cartoon eyes. Red Chillies is right there! Deserves to be watched atleast twice. PS. For non-Indians and Karna (son of Sun God Surya) fans watching this, Karna was not more powerful than Arjuna. Karna is an antagonist and an adharmi in the Mahabharata who was jealous of Arjuna and committed many evil deeds and suffered for his karma and choosing the wrong side against the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Shree Krishna. Period. But he is not a cheeranjeevi (immortal) like Ashwatthama. How has he reborn or reincarnated remains to be seen. Note that according to some, Karna pushing Arjuna's chariot back is a fake story and Ashwatthama surrendered the mani himself.
Great video!! Please watch Malayalam movies too and get into a totally different universe. You can start off with Manjummel Boys, Aavesham and then go on to classics like Manichitrathazhu.
Baaghi? All of Tiger Shroff’s fight scenes except for his opening fight in War are directed by people who don’t know how to utilize his talent and skills. Unnecessary slo-mos and angle switches ruin them.
This film has a lot of pacing flaws. It tries to be too many things its not. But it has limitless potential. I hope Nag Ashwin improves on the flaws. Then it could be truly special.
You cannot mislead Mahabharata especially when you are making it for International audience. The starting scene where it is shown that an arrow about to hit Karna on his back is a misleading scene and overhype of a selfish character like Karna through the mouth of Shri Krishna is another blood boiling mislead scene😡 Nag Ashwin still in the hangover of "Daana veera shura karna" movie I think. This has to be changed. It took many efforts from our religious preachers to portray actual Mahabharata but people like Nag comes and destroy their efforts in a single shot. People just remember films and believe that is true especially kids will have huge impact in their brains. Very disappointing from Nag Ashwin. Sorry guys don't believe in this director's theory please, its not true. Karna is a negative character actually but here he shown him as a Hero.
