so as a FFXIV vetran (i started playing in Stormblood), my biggest advice when it comes to new expansions is to not worry too much about prep. U've already chosen what jobs u want to main during the MSQ, which is good. Although if u want to avoid DPS queue times then i'd still suggest sticking to Gunbreaker. Additionally if u plan on streaming dawntrail i'd suggest u wait at least 1 week (possibly 2) post DT launch to stream the MSQ. Many players will be playing the MSQ themselves and will be avoiding spoilers. So what i recommend instead is to spend that 1st week leveling Picto or Viper to 90. Which u can do in Bozja (the ShB Large group content). That way u can get some great EXP, and tackle another popular chucnk of content that a lot of ppl really enjoy. U get to experience something "new" to u, while u pass the time until u feel it's safe to stream MSQ. Lastly, for the first 2 weeks of DT launch, there won't be a whole lot of endgame content outside of Extremes. Which might be perfect for u if u've never done endgame content. Extremes and Savages in early expantions are typically designed to be a "little" bit easier because everyones getting used to the jobs at the new level cap and new skills. 2 weeks after launch is when the "raid" will launch but just the normal modes so i wouldn't stress about that too much. it's not until then u'll have to worry about gear if u plan to do savae. There will be a new crafted battle set (green gear) that comes out at this time that u can buy of the Marketboard. It might be a little expensive at first, but if u can get a full set of that, then u'll meet the min level requirements for Savage easily. 4 weeks after DT's launch is when the savage tier of the raid will unlock. And if u haven't already i'd recommend finding/making a static for it if u plan to take it seriously, otherwise just google some week 1 guides and PF it like u would Extremes usually and u'll be fine. It'll take time, tenacity and perseverance but clearing the whole savage tier in PF is pretty common (although it might take a few months cause PF is unreliable)
Wow thanks for this response, this is a ton of great advice! Definitely will be taking Viper into Bozja. As for MSQ I for sure wouldn't stream it in the first week or so, but I don't know if I can hold off that long myself, might end up just doing it off stream out of sheer excitement for the story!
